  1. Heard on the news at noon. Wegmans has cashier (s) that are Muslim. They refuse to handle any pork products or alcohol. Wegmans is having to post a sign on the line where these cashier (s) are working . Asking to respect their religious views and move to another line if you have any of these items in you cart. Wegmans is really stuck here. one wrong move and the laysuits will start. What are your thoughts? My view, ringing out items that come down the belt is a condition of employemnt for that position. If you don't want or can't do that then apply for a different position. It isn't like they held the position and all of a sudden Wegmans decided to stat to carry pork products and alcohol. If I am allergic to peanut....do I apply to Planters and expect them to make it a peanut free environment? What about the athiest at Halmark...do they refuse to ring out cards that have to do with Christmas or Easter? I am about at a 9.95 out of 10 on the fed up meter
  2. I have a band new, never used set of 308 Win, Lee dies. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/148525/lee-deluxe-3-die-set-308-winchester would love to do a FTF trade for a used set of Lee carbide 38/357 dies. I don't need the extra 308 and it would be nice not to have to change my 357 set up when I want to load 38's for my daughter and Father to shoot. Let me know...I know it is a long shot.
  3. I will have to look at that. I always thought the heavier bullets would develop a higher chamber pressure or at least require less powder to reach the same pressure. If that were true the 22-250 would have heavier recoil that the 260 or the 308...right?...lol
  4. I know. I was waiting to see what I ws going to do on the muzzle brake issue. will probably just put the screw in plugs in now that I won't be getting a brake. A brake would have made it go away
  5. Thanks. After shooting it....I am not even going to loook into a brake any more. It isn't that bad.
  6. Finally got the barrel, permit, all stocked up and ready to go. It is a 308 winchester barrel and I have loaded some reduced recoil rounds to play with it a bit and get used to it. It is shooting great (little dirty burning but not too bad) Shooting 130 gr bullets first picture is at 100 yards the second is at 50 yards. The squares are 1" squares. I tried it out at 200 yards yesterday. i need a little better glass for that. THe drop on the round was 15" low at 200 yards. group was still good just pretty low.
  7. Can we get a Moderator to ban this spam account...my mial box is flooded now...lol
  8. Anyone have a stud attached bipod they are looking to get rid of. Looking for something like a Harris. I am in Rochester. Let me know what you have and how much you have to have. Thanks Bob
  9. Itemize and document and make sure the content value of your Home Owners Insurance is up to par. I have quite a few guns but I don't think enough to cover the cost of a 10 grand safe. I cna't see spending it for me. I went the stack-on route. more to keep unwanted hands off them
  10. A guy I know just had to send a Smith in for the same thing. his was a .357. He was actually shooting reloads and I thought maybe the guy that loaded them had used rifle primers rather than pistol primers. I couldn't tell but the ones that didn't fire in his Smith DID fire in my Taurus.
  11. It was humor VIrgil...we almost never agree..lol
  12. Amen!! Did you hack Virgil's account? I want verification...lol., Great post
  13. Isn't there a big Turkey farm in CNY...is it Plainville?
  14. Well I will be off of Cigs for 6 weeks this coming Tuesday. It was the easiest time I have had quitting (I have done it lots of times before...lol) But this tme is for good....why because I was ready. When I wasn't ready these ads would not have made a difference to me. I could see how they could make the effects more real to family members of a smoker and ramp up pressure that way. I will be curious what all these politicians will do when the campaign to stop smoking really works....They would crap themselves at the loss of tax money. Virgil...I know the costs are very high. It is a slippery slope though. Where do we stop it. How about obese people? Do we tax fast drivers? Do we impose a tax to cover costs for homes that heat with wood because they statistically have a higher rate of fires and cost the public tax money? How abot a tax on booze? that is one with high public costs. Do we tax people with a genetic tendency for a problem? It is easy to vilify a sect of the public....not so easy when we are IN that sect. Another one of those "no easy answer" issues
  15. This is one site that actually cites why he chooses to boycott. I went looking o the web because I have one that is a pet peeve of mine but I wanted to check how current it was...and it still is. I will not buy an item from Levis http://www.mindspring.com/~papercut/boycott.html
  16. Kind of makes me think...I would love to see a pinned topic that we could list companies like this so we could use that info when making future purchases.
  17. Agree...but paper doesn't seem to present problems for expansion or penetration..lol. I don't think in a -06 bullet there would be a problem of not enough penetration or too much expansion on deer sized game. There could be a real issur of not enough though. I very sturdy bullet may blow right through and, while fatal, maigh not expend all it's energy in the animal. I saw it done on caribou..punch right through and the animal stands there...then walks away, .30 cal hole in and out. The couple of us that used coreloks and sierra game kings....put them in a pile when similiar shots were made. I think you can over bulet yourself in a ought six
  18. yup...single wall and if I openn it up enough to keep he temp at 200 all my smoke rolls out...lol
  19. Funny... my propane one works better in the cold. I can't keep it shut to keep the smoke in and keep the temp down in the the summer time.
  20. Hemlock and Canadice are State now.... right? but I don't think they are on the maps yet...Hamlock IS one that you can use those youung mountain goat legs. and a bot wouldn't hurt either...lol. The ravines really cut down on traffic there if you get in deep.
  21. The "Fingerlakes" is a big area. We might be of more help if you narrowed down where you are...how far you are willing to go and your tolerance for walking. THere is a tone of state land south east of Ithaca an a lot of it is almost void of hunters afer the first week. Best friend you will have is Google Earth and do a search on the DEC Site. there is an interactive state land viewer.
