  1. You SOB...Joe.....you stole my thunder. That is right where I was going. I remember the ol days of "just worry about you own hunting and enjoy the experience".
  2. Enjoy the site. DOn't be afraid to dive right in. I love to see opinions and views from other areas of the country.
  3. That is really why I will not contribute during any of the "check this box to contribute" scams I think they do them during the license sales....I think they might do it other times too....was it during taxes?...anyway they get a big NO from me. If it went to support a conservation effort I would gladly support it.
  4. It used to be you got a preference point and your money back.....guess they got sick of seeing that coin go back out...I mean with all their socail programs they have to fund and all :'(
  5. ----- After their 11th child, a hillbilly couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children. The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. 'A less costly alternative, ' said the doctor, 'is to go home, get a cherry bomb , (fireworks are legal in hillbilly country) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to your ear and count to 10.' The hillbilly said to the doctor, 'I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me.' 'Trust me,' said the doctor. So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count! '1' '2' '3' '4' '5' At which point, he paused, placed the beer can between his legs and continued counting on his other hand. This procedure works in Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia and Texas.
  6. I am not sure how it currently is becasue the areas I apply for I always get.....but I remember back in the old application days if you sent in the fee (I think $5 back then) and did NOT get drawn the check was eaither voided or sent back. If you guys don't get drawn in the Doe Permit lottery now do you get your money back?
  7. I read you don't ML hunt ust curious if you gun hunt or just bow hunt? In some of the areas I hunt the intrusion of just the bow hunters in the woods alters the habits of deer.
  8. You guys keep this up and Virgil will be poppin in to call you all racists
  9. still need the back tag on the SZ---NZ haven't needed it in years. The carcass tags still have to be carried while you are hunting the game the tags are for
  10. not sure what size you want but they had a little 800 watt on sale for $90. about the size of the little Hondas.
  11. so let me get this straight. If you buy a lifetime you get this card. you still have to carry the card along with the carcass tags...right? Take sup more room in the wallet than tha paper tags...costs more to put out...Sounds to me like NY found another soultion for a problem that doesn't exist. I wonder what the replacement charge is for that baby.
  12. I really have 3 main hunting areas Uncles abandoned farm up north-NZ (5H)-250 acres. there are logging roads and the wheeler is just used to retreive deer. only 2 permanent stands. Mostly ground hunting and I still hunt it alot. Usually 2-4 of us hunting At my home access to almost 90 acres that is woods brush and mainly ag fields. 6 stands there with 2 buddies of mine. I mainly bow hunt this but is we get smowed out at camp it is m fall back for SZ and ML season. (8H)I use my wheeler to retreive but not going in. My lease is 110 acres. It is usually Dad and myself and sometimes family and friends come up. It abuts 2500 acres of state land. We have 2 blinds, 2 stand and one large elevated box blind. 2 more box blinds are going in this year. we are pre-fabbing them to cut down on set up time down there. wheelers are only used to retreive here. At least until Dad feels like riding one in.(Area 7R) I have one other farm that I can hunt in 6S but have not been down there in the last 3 years. that one is aout 150 acre....and on the side of a mountain...lol....hence the 3 years
  13. not do derail the topic but 10% unemployment is not surprising. There are one out of 10 people that I know that I wouldn't employ if I owned a business. The hard nut to swallow is if some of these folks had a work ethic they could be employable. I am losing apprentices every week because they can't get the lazy a$$e$ out of bed and show up. They you and I have to pay for them to be that one out of 10. Darwin would be hanging his head in disgust. As far a Horbor Freight. They have a store in Henrietta and it is a good place to grab stuff. Not the quality to contract with but for the normal home owner...just fine. My one buddy was putting up molding and for $2 he bought a finish nailer. He figured if he made it though his basement remodel it beat setting all those nails...still going strong after a complete remodel of his house. I get ratchet straps and clamps there all the time.
  14. That is becasue both are deeply rooted pursuits. We have been engaged in both since we first crawled out of the ooze and stood on two feet.
  15. It is most likely from the deer farms. There are Fallow deer farmed in many locations in NY and a lot of it does head down to the city
  16. You don't have to move Joe. The city zoos are loaded with game.....any idea how many steaks are in one of dem der packiderms
  17. I think if that happened there would be a huge increase in high fence politician hunting....damn...did I say that out loud?
  18. When Kodak was up and running strong, I used to see them inside their security fence all the time. Funny how they started to disappear when the season opened....even though it was a no hunting area. I love you thoughts of posting the pics prior to the season. I don't think I have ever seen brows like that. I am sure some of the guys that score here could give a guess.....on the Culver Creek scoring system it rolled in at an even HOLY $&*@#!!
  19. wow...had no idea you Mom was into deer farming...lol I hope like heck you can hunt there
  20. I hunt in shotgun and rifle areas. I just don't get the opposition.
  21. I hope I get a chance at him. The one thing that looks strange on him to me is how skinny his neck looks
  22. It is....like the first generation with the removable card
  23. What a champ you are Steve...lol. I really appreciate it.
