I hope when they find those SOB's they resist arrest. A bullet would be too good for them! > -
Here is one that will generate some debate.

John---regionally I think earn a buck could work, but there is still the issue of the areas of our state that currently have no doe tags and the herd population won't support them. It is a tough call here in NY, the habitat and terrain is so varied across the state. Just throwing this out there because I dont know how this effects an earn a buck plan. I know guys that live in Maryland. The amount of deer they can take is crazy. I think if you hunt all seasons in all regions it can be like 28 deer. They have an earn a buck system. the guys that I know hunt big bucks so the first day of the season their tags get filled either by lead or by ink. even if they don't get 2 they fill the tags out so they can get the buck tag in their pocket. Since at this point in time we can support that kind of 28 deer harvest and you only get 2 tags....how would the non take of the does affect the population control efforts. Not sure how they can estimate that kind of action in their estimates. -
I read those post below it too...what a bunch of fruitcakes. I don't know about you guys but I think the fawn would have survived on it's own by that age. I am alos betting at that time of the year, if Momma was dead it was probably NOT a hunter but a car that did her in. I think we need to rewrite Bambi so Momma has a run in with a semi so we quit getting the bum wrap...... Like my signature says.....Vegetarian ------Indian for "lousy hunter"

I agree Cummings...I said it tongue in cheek yesterday but I really think the take the yotes provide is one factor why the DEC won't cut us loose on them 365 days a year. -
I am really biting my tongue and trying to keep the "great rack" comments to myself :-[

I shoot thunderheads and although they are fixed blade, they also use a rubber O ring on the threads. they NEVER got totally tight. They arent' suppose to. it allows you to tighten but gives you that 1.3 of a turn adjustment to either align or offset the blades to the fletchings depending on how they fly best for you. Yours may be the same way. you left the orings on,,,,,,right?

Congrats.....when are you buying him his first gun?...lol next week?
-
Great story and wonderful deer. was wondering----is that a double beam on his left side? lokks it from the pics.

Steve...that is exactly the reason I shared my experiences. It really speaks to just how big Wildcat's actions were. Especially since these guys were no where to be seen. Only he would have ever known.
-
OK Wildcat---enough of the back patting----get your butt out there and shot it's Father...lol
-
OK...silly question time...did you have a jacket on that you aren't use to wearing. Could it have been the "zip" sound of the string on your sleeve?
-
Nice heavy rack...congrats...did you weigh him?

I would buy the starting earlier...maybe a true primative season from sept 1 to Oct 16th...for all you stick hunters out there.....but the season after January 1 would be tough...bucks could hae dropped their horns and you do not want to shoot a doe in March or April. I saw a deer struck one time and the fetus was still moving although momma was near death. Made my skin crawl.

Like amny other topics...I am betting it has a lot to do with your attitude...whether you are involved in any incidents and a trouble maker and the general mood of the officer . In your scenario if I hunted out of my house on state land I would have to remove my stand each night?
-
check your fletching...betting the leading edge of one of them is unattached. will not only whistle but will really effect arrow flight.

I don't understand his position. anything left around a tree...even a retchet strap could kill a tree if the tension is not released. on our leased timber property we have rules much like DEC. no nails or screw in steps...nothing that punctures the trees or could leave any metal in the tree. Our ladder stands stay up....end of the season...last man out releases the ratchets and the stand stays in place. tree can grow and no damage done. The next year...up the stand that is still semi-secure and retighten. I have had 4 stands stolen on me over the years...pitty the poor sole if I catch them in the act.

Is this going too far, to control land and deer population?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to mossy725's topic in Deer Hunting
even during deer season...keep an eye on your gut piles...if the yotes are around they will be on them within 24 hours. I personally wish they would open the season 365 days a year. If they want the population down they should do it. My gut is telling me the DEC is much like some farmers I know. they want the Yotes there. I believe the DEC wants them for the deer population control aspect. Some Farmers I know will allow you to hunt the land but will kick your butt off if you kill the yotes. Me----I view them as rats and they need to be taken out. -
It is about RESULTS ----flash and showmanship doesn't count....enjoy Results.wmv

God bless you both and never give up hope -
chaining a treestand to a tree does not meet their definition of and illegal treestand though....if that were true, lok-on stands wouldn't be allowed
-
so all that practice DID pay off

Congrats Steve......is that strap around him the one you used to tie him up to the post while you were fattening him up?...lol ;)
