  1. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/portable-tankless-water-heater.aspx?a=680099 Propane hot water shower----a must. several models have a 12 volt pump that would supply water for the shower and work off the vehicle battery. http://www.gas-lights.com/mr-heater-base-camp.html Propane lights the lights are 2000 BTU per each and one would make it very toasty in there and be plenty of light. I have 3 in our common area of camp and they are great
  2. I love that fix Eddie.....I will be doing it mysef....2 times last year I had to ask guys to leave my stands
  3. One of my favorite ways to grill loin is to cut it in fillets about 1 1/2 inches thick. Marinade it over night in Jim Beam Whiskey. I have a food saver and the canister set for it. I put them in the canister and add marinade and seal it...let stand a half hour...shake up ..release air and reseal....into the fridge over night. I wrap the edge around with Bacon and attach with a couple of tooth picks..(like a bacon wrapped scallop but bigger...lol) grill until the bacon cooks and starts to curl.....medium If you want the bacon crispier and the venison a little less done. microwave it about half cooked.
  4. Hey big-----backstraps ar ethe best int he smoker. I have done a cajun rub with mesquite for smoke ......a brown sugar and montreal steak rub with Maple smoke...both awesome...about 1 1/2 hours at 250...perfect medium rare....and juicey like crazy
  5. My suggestion on that is use it in a bolt, pump or single shot. some of the surplus ammo can still be corrosive and the cleaning in an autoloader is a bear. I have shot chucks and yotes with .223 FMJ and they do go in a heap, but the backstop comments are very valid.
  6. Enjoy....and we expect lots of pics. I just marked our trails at the camp this spring since I was having some buddies up for the first time. Word of advise. mark them so wenever any one comes across a trail all they need to do is put the paint on their right and walk and it brings them back to camp. It already kept a buddy of mine from wandering out onto 2500 acres of state land and a LONG walk back...lol
  7. Congratulations. That is great news.....ummmmmm......I'll give you $50 bucks for your bow....LOL... Seriously....best job in the world is being a Dad
  8. Pretty darn cute. Nice pics on those- What camera is it? I think I have to upgrade mine. The quality just isn't there but the price was right. Hard to believe those cute buggers grow up to be soooooo tastey...LOL
  9. There is an open house with Elite Reps on the 28th. Bows to shoot and such....I will be there. If they shoot as well as I saw the guys in the league using them.....I may have to just put up with sleeping on the couch for a few months...LOL
  10. It does. But there are only 2 models to get me to the 31 inches I need. And I shoot a release and an ultranock
  11. I'd be curious on the grouping too. First thing that pops into my head is ....If I was to carry a single shot why not a muzzleloader? I know you can load faster than that but probably not quickly enough to follow up on a missed shot.
  12. That is the one I am looking at. the Judge is faster but can't get up to my draw length. I love the warranty that is transferable and if ANYTHING happens to your bow......the next day air a completely set up and tuned bow with sights and rest to you so you can continue your hunt. just reaturn at the end of the hunt. How can you beat that?
  13. YWNY---Your buddy in Henrietta reps them too. I stopped in there and that is where I heard about them
  14. I pass on the opener....with 2 days left I pull the trigger on the release....unless I have filled my antlerless only tag...then I wait for muzzleloader
  15. I am looking at new bows...I want to support US and local...sooooooo. Any one have one of these bows? They are Rochester NY based and the warranty is great? Anyone use them?
  16. Thanks guys...I wish it opened this weekend before the beans lose their draw
  17. WOW---just catching up on the reading of the post. I kind of fell behind. After reading all 9 pages of this I think we should add a topic for "Bright Orange For Crossbow hunting During Bow Season"...lol ;D
  18. After the first 3 year lease they will let you build your own. they limit to 400 sf not including a loft. They treat you very fair and it isn't a hassle. The cost for the 110 acres is just shy of $2,000 a year.
  19. Were they left in over years? I have never heard of a one piece step breaking. All that I know of are rated at least 1000 pounds
  20. I agree gutpile but I have cut timber for and run it through for lumber and trees I know were tapped for maple syrup healed pretty fast. Me......I usually use climbing sticks if not a ladder stand. most of the trees I use steps in have no timber value because of their shape anyway. If they are straight I like the sticks better.
  21. John....same ones I use...and they are textured on the surface so they are more anti-slip. The little turned up end helps keep your foot from sliding as well.....Word of caution....I used one as a bow holder and the texture wrecked a cam on my bow. not sure it it was me putting it on it of the wind riocking it bu it burred the cam and put a nick in my string. what is the price you got for 40? I don't think I have seen them packaged in more than 25 before.
  22. Burmjohn---screw in steps are very safe...the one peice ones...NEVER use the folding steps. I have had 2 break at the rivits. one solid peice of steel isn't gonna break. they are a bit tougher to carry but well worth it.. my 2 cents
  23. And no minerals...just beans and this field is still in blossoms...no beans forming yet
