    Saw 10 doe tonite, no bucks. but........ my g/f's step uncle shot a 9 point about 25 yards from one of my other stands..... uggghhhhhh, but on a positive note, he saw 4 other bucks.

    how about mounting? are the guys at dicks wise enough?? i know in my neck of the woods the guys that work in dicks dont know much of anything.

    i use a remington gamemaster 30.06, pump action. i love the gun, it was bought new in 1974. have a redfield scope on it, same year. i want to upgrade, and been leaning towards leupold..... i want s good rugged scope, but to be honest, i dont know much about them. never had to buy one.

    i had a pair of the alpha burly's, 1000g. wore them ice fishing, and trudging thru snow and ice putting up iron in fort drum. they worked great, and my feet were warm. i needs to get another pair, the rubber cracked from all the bending and twisting at work.

    ive had 4 on me this year so far.... i think they are in my stand, cause i dont walk thru alot of bush getting to my spot.

    i dont wear much of anything for base layers.... old school long johns for me. camo pants and hoodie, im good. my hands are my problem. never can keep them warm. ice armor works a lil bit for gloves.

    Sounds stupid....... i put my clothes in a bag of corn. when i hang my drippers, i wipe them with apples, cause i always hang them in apple trees. does it work??? i have no idea.

    Reminds me of my grampa too. all he has is story after story after story. he has really bad heart issues now, and still tries to hunt. scares me because he is so stubborn. he asked me to put a tree stand up for him, but im kinda iffy on that.

    i always thought about parking a red truck in a cornfield.... every red truck ive owned ive hit deer with.

    in 2009 i lost a 6 point, found it in the spring, musta walked by it a thousand times, and in 2010 lost a big doe opening day muzzleloader, found her remains on a deer trail halfway thru rifle, 50 yards from where i stopped tracking. it sucks losing deer. that six point was a beauty.
