  6. Welcome ! Good luck on your quest for my favorite 3 !!! My favorite is by far deer, size of the game, big bucks, lots of opportunity's. Next is turkey. Nothing like getting out of the truck, hitting the owl call then hearing that thunder chicken roar and getting him to fly down and come in for a lead lunch. Then there's Yotes, oh how I love Yotes.... Nightime. Pitch black. Just you and an apex predator with a jaw full of sharp teeth and a howl that makes your neck hair stand up.... And then u see eyes coming to your calls..... Good times !!! 7. And how do you explain that to your family as they are expecting you to provide so they can eat? You say your all meat, yet you will let deer walk ??? It seems as if your on the "meat wagon" yet your letting an opportunity at meat walk. You have me wondering if you are just desperate for internet attention or you don't actually know what you want when it comes to bucks / AR's. Anyone who will let a buck walk in hopes of a larger one is NOT a meat hunter imo. Well, there's your attention sir. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  8. Haven't seen any scores lately. The harvest thread is lonely. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  9. Yep. Long time and close friends. Def a small world. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

  11. Pines are great LATE season thermal covers, but don't forget the importance on summer/fall thermal cover as well. Obviously you want to hold deer all year but sometimes for hunting summer/fall thermals can hold deer for you DURING season. Big canopy and undergrowth holds deer for the summer. Hickory, oaks and even beech in proper conditions grow fairly fast, produce food and imo are a great summer thermal and "deer" tree. The obvious is oaks, but they grow so dang slow that your kids kids will be the ones that benefit from your planting ( no reason not too, though !!) They canopy nice and keep the deer cool, then once the leaves are gone give food, after that's all over they may move on to better forage but consider the timeframe of when they would hang in those areas ! 16. Where ya at in Alden ? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  17. And to add... If your planting anything in an open area without other tree cover close by, I second the covers or some sort of protective barriers. Bunny's love trees ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  18. Ha ! Well ya see, if you notice my sig pic, I'm better at cutting them than growing them. Lol. But, we planted all trees within 2 days of recieving. Long spade shovel, stick er in, wiggle back and forth, make sure roots are all stretched out not in a clump (as deep as you can get them), mark with ribbon and on to the next. We planted in areas with golden rod that I had brush hogged prior to planting. We DID NOT weed whack or trim around trees. My dad's theory was the tree will work hard at growing over the weeds if it wants to live (and trees want to live). Some of them prob grew 6-10" and the tallest growers were the ones surrounded by the tallest golden rod. Now that was pines. The black walnuts were planted on the old creek bottom where we had just logged about 15 nice mature black walnuts. They didn't grow much but they weren't dead. Some dissapeared as the whole area was under about 6' of water for a few days. Hopefully they survive. If you are planting some specific trees you should research the areas they like - willows like wet, apples like sun etc. Good luck !! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  19. OP. I started out with the same attitude u have.... Just figured I'd kill some time in the late season. I was successful on a few hunts and was hooked. Long story short,I wasted alot of money upgrading. Went from a few mouth calls to a shockwave with about 3 other e calls in between. The remote is key. Having a bit of range can make or break a daytime hunt and being able to see what your going to play at night is a necessity. Volume is important but sticking with distress calls you won't need anything too loud. Yote vocals won't work so well if you can't let em rip. Name brand doesn't much matter. There's only a few making e calls anyways. FoxPro is obviously top dawg for a reason but the primos line isn't awful. My advice, either the fusion or shockwave FoxPro, or go real cheap that way you don't lose your a$$ when you upgrade. You can have some fun even with a cheap call and it beats blowing on the hand helds for hours. But be warned, you knock a dog or two down and u better have the credit card ready !! 20. Jeez. Was out and about all day. East Amherst to cheektowoga was bad. Lancaster/ Alden was fine. People drive like dummys.... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  21. Order will go in soon. Did a couple hundred pines last year and prob have 95% growth. Hopefully this winter doesn't kill em. Had a flood take out some black walnuts but most made it. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  22. I was ok with growie. She poked me a few times but I'm not gonna get all butt hurt. There was Def some serious bashing but put the keyboard down and the post goes stale. I think she will be back.... Always did have some questions about this Mr B character though. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  23. I'm not gonna sweat ars personally, but why is it so hard to swallow for some ? How can you say it's wrong for the Dec to determine what we can and can't shoot... That's how it is now !? Why aren't there long drawn out post about "only" 2 buck tags, or why we can't have a longer season ? Don't sweat it, most of us will prob never see ARs in our hunting career. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  24. If you target the smallest legal bucks possible, than yes. 2.5 will be a "target" buck. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
