We pulled up at 8:15 and there were a lot of guys there. But this late in the season there was nobody going out on reserved time. So there were so many spots open. 8:30 walk in get to pick spots.

Didn't see another hunter. We took two big spots so that's probably why.

Got together with my brother and a friend to hunt out east on Long Island. It was a great day we walked 7.5 miles and saw 15 deer. We had a couple of shots but nothing connected. I jumped some real nice deer. I believe one was a real nice shed buck, he was big and had the body of a buck but no head gear. It was a great day out there and so many deer. We were in spot 41 and 42 on rt 51.

For years we hunted a woodlot owned by Cotton Hanlon. When they started leasing we didn't know about it and the property got locked up for a number of years. I talked to Bob and made sure my name was on the list to lease this property. It actually is adjacent to my brother in laws property. Well to my surprise it came available yesterday so we are back in business. It's 75 acres of Larch, Pines and Hard woods. Shot some of my biggest deer years ago right there. Just about 50 minutes from my camp! Happy hunting!

Watched a dog take down a deer today

Dumping grounds for pets is true. My friend has come across a number of pets that were left to fend for themselves after the owners leave at the end of summer. One time he came across a dog that had porcupine quills in its face and eyes. Dog had to be put down after he spent some money trying to save it. -

Doc in your situation it is true. But if that dog was abandoned it will hunt to survive, it's the middle of the winter and the dog needs to eat. -

It's natural. Domestic dog blame the owner. My wheaten kills squirrels all the time but nobody really cares. Left in the wild they will hunt to survive and you can't blame them for that. -
You're a professional guy that eats real well! No iron shirts are great!

Probably Rocky Point. We have a spot in there that really produces late season. Good luck!

Do you have you have your shirts dry cleaned or laundered?

Headed out Thursday to fill some tags. Bucks still holding head gear for now!

Taken at the Coast Guard Station Fire Island. My Nephew is still a member as he trains to be a NYS Trooper.

Probably hunting with my Father in law who in his prime hunted and fished everywhere. He had a stroke at 50 so he needed help all around but still managed to hunt and fish with me up until the age of 75. Another one was watching a kid I mentoered get his firts deer the first day with bow in the woods. That was amazing and what an amazing kid he grew up to be.

Enjoy the day!
