  1. So are you telling us that you don't wear Scentlok garments like T-Bone on the other thread?? Too expensive for me. BTW never said I was against shooting does, just pointed out a scenario where you might want to think twice. That probably went right over your head. ;D
  2. So go hunt the coyotes and bears, dont just sit around and piss and moan they are there. If you dont understand what your area's carrying apacity is, and you dont shoot does, you are hurting your herd. BTW, by "your area's carrying capacity", I dont mean your property, I mean the whole area that the herd covers. Exactly what I meant. The whole area. You can look at some threads here about yotes and people really complain about the destruction on the deer herd. One way to solve it is not to shoot too many does. Not true for the whole state just your area. I don't piss and moan about the yotes, my area has a lot of them but we also have a lot of deer. Steve and Doe better not be down wind of me after a night of beans and franks, that will kill'em without even shooting. ;D
  3. We all piss and moan about the number of yotes everyone is seeing these days and don't forget the bears. Best way to keep the herd strong when there is a lot of predation is more fawns. Shoot less does. I also don't like shooting does at bow season, never know who might be following her to your stand.
  4. Yea nothing like tenderloin steaks, they are the best. We are getting down to the last third of three deer from last year. BTW what the hell is that round thing above the steaks? lol
  5. Saw a hen with little ones crossing rt 17 just below Deposit, hope they made it!
  6. John, I think bears are unpredictable. Every year we have a sow and cubs in the area. One year the sow let me within 30 yards of her cub, she was content on eating corn. Be prepared, I have pepper spray and a nice big knife. I have a lot of pines on my property and while walking on trails you can't see around the bend. My fear is I surprise the bears and get a bad reaction. They do make some odd noises, makes your hair stand up on the back of your neck, especially when it's dark. Word of caution for those of you that will shoot a bear. If you have one coming in give it some time. Sometimes you think your shooting at a single male bear but actually it's a sow with cubs. My bears cubs were 5 minutes behind their mother. Bears are cool but can get to be a pain especially if you have fruit trees around the property, they will break branches off the tree and leave the trunk bear! lol
  7. That first deer must have some pointer in it! What a riot, thanks for sharing.
  8. Not a member of the NRA, I do enjoy the debates about the organization and maybe some day I'll join.
  9. Well I haven't watched too many shows in the last year or so. So I tune into realtree roadtips, usually pretty good. It's a Texas hunt out of a ground blind. The big one comes in, Wadell is saying it's behind a doe, behind a doe. It hits the clearing and bang, down goes the nose and it stops to eat whatever they placed there. He shots the deer 30 yards broadside, simple shot and goes on praising the bow he was shooting. I'm sure there are a lot of you out there watching this but to me I'd rather watch paint dry. Same goes for Bassmasters, used to love the show.
  10. I just showed my brother the picts and he said the same thing, I do have bad eye sight!
  11. Just got back. 10 days at camp, had a great time. The park was cool, we set up at Trout pond and fished for a while, kids caught a mess of fish. The falls were great and there were plenty of areas to get great pictures. We will be going back in August. We stayed off the train bridge! Hawk was flying around in the canyon!
  12. While growing up my brother and I were big ice hockey players, if we weren't on the ice we were shooting pucks (orang balls) at the garage door. My Dad went from glass windows to plastic and then eventually to new doors with no windows. Looks nice John, that is my project for next year I have two that are in bad shape.
  13. If that's their facial expression after the fact.........well it wasn't that much fun! lol
  14. Thanks you too, I'll be visiting the Letchworth St forest, thanks for the info.

  23. On vacation the next two weeks, thinking about bringing the kids over to the state park and exploring. Any tips out there what to do and not to do? Anything else in the area while I'm over there that would be cool for the kids? Thanks
