  1. Well, I know guys that go out for the first time and shoot a big buck and never come back. Then there are the guys who never see a deer but love going to that spot year after year just to enjoy the outdoors. "Let it be known, the creatures feed, clothe, shelter and medicate us." I don't hunt for any of these reasons. This may of been true when Ted was a young lad back in the 1800's but not now.
  2. From top to bottom, lately scam is written all over it. Who do you trust? We only import 2% oil from Libya and it has such a great effect. You want me to pay more taxes, then let me know how my kid is getting a better education with all the proposed cuts? Let me know what is being put forth to get us off of oil, or at least a plan. Obama said it a few years ago, the country that leads in alternative energy in the 20th century will lead the world." Well Mr. President you haven't done much, have you..........
  3. I agree with Doe, Kind of out of our control where prices are headed. Take a look at your life-style and how you get to and from work and figure out a plan "B" and "C" and "D" My next truck will be a Hybrid and I will keep the distance I have to drive to work at a minimal. If gas prices do get really high this summer It will be 3-4 day long breaks at the camp instead of more frequent 2 day weekends. It's 325 miles to camp, this is where I do my most driving.
  4. But your fuel mileage goes down the tubes, and you cant tow anything using the E85. It doesnt actually work out. And your car doesnt know you put E85 in the tank, it calculates your range by looking at how much fuel you are consuming per mile and how much fuel you have in the tank. Yes I get less milage but Not down the tubes. I don't tow anything? Where did that come from? FACT: I have filled the tank with E85 and regular gas. Without moving the truck the computer knows what gas mileage you will get by the fuel in the tank. The only "FACT" is the fuel tank sending unit registers the level in the tank (whether it be reg, E85, water or anything else that increases it) the onboard computer then calculates the "estimated" amount, distant that can be traveled, etc. based on the last MPG rating the computer registered before the fill up...................it then recalibrates as you drive. There is absolutely nothing that tells the vehicle what is being put for fuel........................automatically. Even if it did, the computer would still recalibrate as you drive. Hell, I could pour a bucket of marbles in the tank and change the reading on the gauge and fool the computer, it works on volume. FDXX75 The fuel sensor picks up the texture of the fuel, it knows the difference between reg gas and E85. Three different Chevy dealers all the same answer. I move on now. Good day.
  5. Geno, I have seen some of you posts on other threads and it seems that you really know your stuff when it comes to cars. Loved the videos also.
  6. Like I said the computer will tell you how far you can go on a tank of gas, flex or regular. Original post "how about them gas prices" Yes they are high, I love my flex fuel truck it gives me options. For expert advice on flex fuel best go to a car forum. We do have some car experts here like Geno. If you looking for hunting information would you post on a car forum? My Tahoe does all the things that I stated and I love the "FLEXibility" of the truck.

  8. My brother-in-law hunted with them his first year going to Ohio. Seems like he wasn't too impressed with the guides and the stands he was put in. Nice place but he now hunts with Ludwig outfitters in Ohio. Real down to earth place.
  9. March storms are the worst for deer kill. Reserves running low.
  10. wow really! I will have to look into it for the wife and her Suburban. Does it worsen the milage by alot? I worked it out. If the flex fuel is .25 cents cheaper it's a wash between less milage and price. Anything over .25 cents it's worth it. I do see less miles per gallon in the Tahoe. At .80 cents cheaper it's a no-brainer. I am gonna have to disagree with the math here..............................It is a known fact that it takes @ 40% more flex fuel to generate the same results as regular fuel. So let say a gal. of reg. fuel is $3.80 per gal, Flex fuel is $3.00 per gal...........................flex fuel 1.4 gals = 1 gal. reg fuel......................1.4 x $3.00 = $4.20 to accomplish the same result. You would need to be able to buy flex fuel for $2.28 per gal. just to break even with reg. fuel prices. I have yet to find a single car, truck, or any vehicle for that matter that has shown a positive gain by running flex fuel. It just isn't in the cards.................... FDXX75 I get about 3 miles less per gallon with the flex fuel. Do all the math you want but for it's a win for me. If I fuel up my truck and leave for camp it's 325 miles. If I do the speed limit I end up with a little under a quarter tank. Flex fuel I end up under an 8th. It's nice that the fueling system knows that your putting in E85 and adjusts your distance you can drive.

  12. I have a flex fuel Taho. This is the first year where it make sense to use the flex fuel. I'm getting it at .80 cents cheaper than regular. Still it's,over 3 bucks a gallon!
  13. Nice place to have, mounts are super!
  14. Heard they are going to introduce a bill that would have two weeks of crossbow only Oct 1st -14th. This would kick off the deer season. Oh yea and a 1 buck rule goes into place, 1 buck no matter what season but you can take a doe during archery (crossbow and bow season combined) and one during gun. So crossbow opponents, when that monster 160 class is cruising your property at early season you just going to let you neighbor get him with the crossbow or are you going to join the ranks??????? Hmm... I made this up, really what would you do?
  15. Couple of towns on the North shore fought the law and won. I live in Huntington and I believe don't need a license to fish.
  16. Just about to buy a 2011 in Camo. Anyone out there have one of these or could give me a review on this model?
  17. Joe, I real good point. You agreed with Steve the other day in the thread about accessing land on L.I. We as a group need to be doing more of this. We are our worst enemy. I wonder what the DEC thinks? Maybe it's up to us the (semi-senior members-ouch) of our group to spread the word. Lay down your arms come together and get something done. We all love to hunt and we should make it a great experience for all (crossbows included!)
  18. I subscribe, good paper and Steve does a wonderful job editing it.
  19. Honestly, i think the video sucked. Shooting deer isn't a problem, let's teach'em how to do it. I really don't care about you kills.
