    Heyyyy

    Welcome another NYC member.
  2. That's great for you; but for the rest of us that have been wronged and time wasted in the system, we push on.
  3. What I find disturbing is that there are people that are so closed minded that they can't see this happening in parts of the state outside their home towns. Even within NYC, there are areas that you can literally get away with murder, and others where you'll be charged for it for being in the wrong place. Not acknowledging this fact is only foolish. And speaking of respect, when I'm in the wrong, I know it. And when speaking to LEOs while driving, fishing, or hunting, I've always treated them respect. This is even after having a few NYC highway patrol and detectives yell at me as if I killed their mothers. There definitely are pieces of junk out there that don't deserve any of our respect, but that's not to say I'll treat every LEO I run into as if they are asses. I usually give them the benefit of the doubt.
  4. That's great for you, come back when you've been through the system unjustly and I'll take your experiences with some consideration. Let's hope you never have to.
  5. Some were from meter maids and some were from police. As much as I'm concerned, they are one agency and all belong to NYPD, do they not? As for fixing tickets for people, someone else ends up suffering because of the loss in revenue from the legit violations. I don't see your justifications in their actions. So which lies were you referring to?
  6. You sound like someone that has not gone through the system.
  7. Parking at a hydrant, when there is no hydrant. Double parking when I wasn't parked. Parking at no standing when not parked or standing. Disobeying marked pavement, when the markings are worn out. In all these cases, I've had to fight these tickets and was a big time waister. These things come in waves. It's like all of a sudden, they come out in full force giving out massive tickets, then we won't see them for another year or two and same thing happens again. So its not a matter of doing everything right, it's a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Let's not even start about the cops fixing tickets, huge scandals with that being exposed not too long ago in NYC.
  8. Unfortunately, not all people that show up for court deserves to be there. I can't speak for others but I've received my share of tickets that were legit, and those that the cop knew he was in the wrong, but issued it anyway. Just like any other human, cops also don't like to admit being wrong. As civilians, we don't like to be inconvenienced by the incompetence of those that are supposed to be professional and serve the community.
  9. I live in NYC, one of the highest crime rates in the US probably, and it's exactly the opposite here. We get ticketed for bogus parking tickets, and pulled over for crossing solid lines.
  10. Welcome. Only tip I have for rabbit hunting is with a quiet gun at 1 hr or so before dusk. They cone out to play around then.
  11. It's a firearm in DEC law, but not NYS firearms law. Pretty grey area here. But the point is that they do not require a FFL for shipment.
  12. Grey, you're more than welcome to give me a call at any time. No problems.
  13. Airguns can be mailed directly to your home without a FFL for Long Island. Order from pyramydair. I have a good relationship with all of them there.
  14. Most hunter capable break barrels are 30 lb cocking effort, so your son will have no problem there. Between .177 and .22 in most break barrels, you are pushing the same power plant, just a matter of a larger wound channel or a flatter trajectory. I have .177 and .25 cal airguns, and they are both accurate to dime size groups at 25 yards and the .25 is dime sized out to 50. I have 3" groupings at 100 yards currently with the .25. At 76 yards, I've punctured the skull of a big game animal with the .25. It's a very capable weapon.
  15. Why not use one of those mountain climber things?
  16. Or I can hunt Westchester county for the price of gas.
  17. Damn, I wish my dad took me hinting. Heck, I wish I got to field test DL for that matter!
  18. I'm just looking to do some legal hunting on the cheap. Not everyone needs extravagant hunts and meat to be happy. But thanks for the advice. I've had bison steaks before, as well as buffalo.
  19. If there are new scrapes and rubs, what does that mean as far as deer movement and where to set up?
  20. Whoopps. Thought everyone knew I killed Santa Last hunting season by mistake?
  21. Tommy, if I was having horns for dinner, I probably would visit one of those, but I'm not. Good thing about this sport is that it can accommodator a wife variety of different people, hunting for different reasons. Btw, the spelling of my name is the same as my screen name.
