Nice shot.

Believe the worst has passed NYC. Now it moves up towards Canada.

High tide is receding, but lower manhattan is a few feet under water. MTA is predicted to be down for a week. That should cost the city a few billion $. NYU has reported failed power generators and will need to evacuate.
-
I intend to carry 2 broad heads for deer and 2 for small game.

Eye is still down in NJ ATM. We're in the peak of it now in NYC. Lots of power outages. 2 million estimated in the dark.

I used to fish CI, but shore access from there isn't that great. I usually head down to Brooklyn and Queens to hit the shorelines, but as my success rate shows, they're not that productive, or my technique isn't quite there yet. I've always wanted to fish the beaches, but lack of a pair of waders has prevented me from venturing that route. I've got my eyes peeled for a sale at LL Bean though, so hopefully soon.

Love it when persistence pays off. Elmo always says to me, why do you spend so much time on the one that ran up a tree? I told him I got a personal vendetta against him trying to out smart me, lol. I end up with a sore neck the next day.

As long as you are 500' from a dwelling etc, you should be able to hunt the area. WMA are designed with wildlife in mind, but you can also hunt state forest, DEP property with proper permit, and private land if allowed access. The 500' rule only applies to areas you do not have permission. Permission will remove the 500' rule if you are on permitted land.

Any issues with hunting bow during gun season? That's what I plan to do if I can improve on these groups a little more.
-
Don't know about light line bringing more fish in, but where I fish, line is not the issue. It's the lack of a bite. Haven't striped fished this year much. I personally use 50 braid with 40 leader for my chinking setup and 30 braid on the plugging rod.

Just purchase over 100 something foible days ago. Would be interested in some coupons as well.

Not sure if it's realistic to expect a bow hunter to ID button bucks, but I would certainly hope that rifle hunters using high power scopes should have no excuse to take a button buck by accident.
-
First, apologize if I jumped the gun there. As for stories, none that I care to share on the forums. Let's just say NY has a long way to go as far as understanding the benefits of air gun hunting for big game.
-
Thanks rong! Looking forward in going to the range already. Nice people to chat with there.

Not sure if there is much of a difference as long as you encounter a decent game that you're willing to pursue. Weather I have a "bb" gun or a bow, doesn't matter. I've spotted and stalked plenty of opportunities for deer in open and in wooded areas. PS, next time you try to belittle a NYS approved firearm legal for hunting, educate yourself the difference between a bb gun and an air gun.

That's more like a treehouse. Nice spot.

I wasn't too happy with the colors of the knock and blaze fletchings I got, but they were a good price!
-
Thanks for the input Renegade. Wasn't planning on hunting this season with bow, but that may change if I feel confident enough with my shots.
-
Just curious what some of you think about this last grouping, and total grouping as a whole. This was shot indoors, at 20 yards in a span of 1 hour. Second time shooting a compound bow. How far off am I to be hunting ready?
-
Just bought a dozen of these myself. Dicks has a sale on them, but I got them for less than that in the 250 size. I'll let you know once I cut them. I noticed a few imperfections on the fletchings, so I don't expect them to perform like their higher end line, like the maxima hunter or anything. How far was the shot?

Sorry, not hunting related but the sickest &$#* I've read
shawnhu replied to Elmo's topic in General Chit Chat
Because it is expected of them to serve and protect. That's like saying I'm a plumber, but I don't deal with water. I'm sorry if this is going to sound harsh for some of the babies out there, but there are way too many bad apples in the NYPD to ignore these cases. On the flip side, I met an NYPD detective today that was surprisingly nice, educated, and very professional. Ironic part of it all, he was off duty. Never met me a polite cop on duty, but this will have to do. -
Long island? Heard they are evacuating fire island.
