I hear ya… My mother passed away a few years ago and the clean out of her house was an ordeal to say the least. The house wasn't cluttered, She kept things neat as a pin, but 50 years of stuff adds up. I cleaned out my own basement, after living here only 15 years. I filled a big dumpster to the top..That was about 4 years ago and I bet i could easily fill another one right now.. Once you start tossing things, its amazing how you realize how much stuff you rally don't want/need. -

The biggest thing is, know your range. 5 yards can make a huge difference in a shotguns pattern. I have gotten pretty good judging distance, but sometimes I carry a small range finder, and zap a couple distances when I set up,

I have an 07 700 Sportsman that I bought new. Still runs beautiful . I plow with it, haul wood, deer and gear all the time..great machine. Had to replace the battery once and a cv boot, that I tore. I think it need a new belt, but thats to be expected… I guess its like Ford Vs. Chevy Vs. Dodge Vs. Nissan Vs. Toyota…….

I headed out at about 730 today..Got set up by around 830. Lots of birds in the fields but no gobbling. Had a tom (6-7" beard) walk right by me following hens out into the one field at around 930' Took me by complete surprise. They just showed up , 20 or so yds. off to my right. No time to even move>>

I bought my kid the polaris 570 last spring…The only issue I had was the cheap ass battery Polaris put in it. I replaced it with a better one….65- 70 bucks… other than that ..no issues. Lots of Power and a smooth ride…I think I paid around 6K for it. Nothing wrong with the Yamaha's tho'''

The front sight on my gun was one of those long (1 1/2" maybe) fiber optic rods, in kind of a metal frame, that snaps over the rib. They kept breaking. This year I pulled it off and went with a front and mid bead. Old school always works.

I went from a whisker biscuit to a QAD drop away last year. The biscuit was getting warn and a friend talked me into the drop away. I like it enough, but given the distances I shoot, 10- 25 yards, I don't see an advantage over the biscuit. Im still not use to the QAD..A couple times this past year I was sitting in my stand, looked at my bow, in the holder and noticed that I never set the rest…..

Maybe just a few soft yelps when I first her one on the roost, then thats it. No matter how much he sounds off. As soon as he hits the ground, rip it up. Once he answers, play hard to get.

Only made it out for the first couple hours this morning. No gobbles, but a tom and a hen flew down at around 6. He wanted nothing to do with my calls. He just followed her around and would occasionally strut. they moved off.Heard two other birds come down, behind me at around 630.Never saw or heard them after that. They're around.

I have a retooled plan every morning. I get closer (sometimes) but to shots yet. Hitting the woods in the morning with plan number 5…or 6?? good news is the birds are thick this year.
