I've had one in my pocket ever since i was a kid & my father gave me his old one out of his tool box from work.I lost it a few years later and was crushed. I've carried the same one, every day now for the past 26 years, and have'nt lost it. It's a small Buck lock back#506. I'm due to lose it. That will stink.

Agree.. the exact same thing happened here (Cicero, outside of Syracuse) they were great. Now some five or so years later, service stinks, prices stink, selection stinks and now they are shafting people (or at least trying to) on trade in value for guns. Greedy BS!!! I would'nt even order from the catalog anymore. Fortunatly Dick's is'nt much farther away.

Yeah ..same with Nice & Easy... 91 oct only
-
Forgot to mention, they offered $285 while rating my gun at 95%

Amen!! when I was 10 my prized possession was an aluminum baseball bat that my father bought used. must of set him back 5 bucks.

Chiefbkt... I .agree. You can get a real good Savage rifle, new, for not a ton of money, although they do have high end guns. I think Savage is a safer bet.

Yeah.. 30% is bad enough. I assume the increase is for all stores. I'm done buying guns with em. The guy I talked to told me that management called him in to to see what was going on with the low sales. When he told them that most people are walking out on sales (because of the rediculously low trade in offers) They just did'nt want to hear it. Corporate AH's I'm sure.

I stopped in the local Gander Mnt. this morning. I brought in my Kahr MK40 all stainless, 1 yr old, spotless with original box, extra mag and paper work. $700 + new, about a year ago. I was thinking of trading towards a little lighter gun but was'nt sure which one or if I even wanted to. Talked to the gun guy behind the gun counter and he told me that the store's new policy on payng for trade ins is (or for buying used guns) to pay only 50% of the guns value, up from 30% not that long ago. He was frustrated and said they are losing trade in sales like crazy, but that it was out of his hands. I guess the new genius management knows best. He offerd $285!! I know you get beat up trading with a dealer but this seemed waaay greedy! Since this store opened I've bought 10 guns from them and I'm done. I would rather go to the small gun shops and give them my money. Bunch of geedy BS... IMHO

Both rounds are great and are about the same in performance until you get past 200yrds. then the 06 has a very slight edge (factory ammo anyway). I checked out a few 770's a while back and the actions on them all seemed a little stiff and gritty. Check one out. If it's smooth and fits you good go for it. I'm sure it will be a good reliable gun. The Savage stuff is real good too.

Ethanol is a joke alright. It raises the cost of corn which raises the price of feed which raises the price of beef, milk, pork the cost to ship it... on and on. Then add in that you get poor performance and poor mpgs. They think we're all idiots... thats the problem.

Government Dependence
ants replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Grizz1219... !00% correct. The frustrating part is they dont see it happening to them or if they do they don't care because of the "where is my check?" factor. Can't lose that free check. Beyond sad. I've watched it first hand, for almost 30 years. -
I feel your pain. Try to talk to her I guess. Hope it works. My situation is hopeless. Father inlaw from hell. Crotchety old man if there ever was one and he is at my house (for some reason ) alot. Constantly busting peoples chops, allways right and intentionally starting arguments, over the stupidest things, with EVERYONE! He's too old to punch out so I pretend he does'nt bother me, but he does. At least he does'nt live with me so again I feel your pain ....good luck.

There are traetments that you can use/ (K-100 and Star Tron) seem to help. But starting this summer I went with non ethanol 91 oct. for most of my small engine stuff and a 72 Olds that I bomb around in. I live near Oneida Lake and the local Nice and Easy's sell the non ethanol stuff for the summer (boaters). I got some last week and it was $4.09 per Gal. Everything does seem to run alot better on it. The Olds loves the stuff.

Do you have any stands that are close to each other?
ants replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
You can never have too many options. I like climbers cuz you can move them, fast and easy. The first year I used a climber I arrowed a big 8 by moving the stand about 25 yards, after watching deer ( the day before) walk just out of bow range. I've done the same thing a few times since. Put em up! -
I shoot the same Cobra I bought about 10 years ago. Buy another one (if they even make em anymore). From what I can see they are damn good.
-
Good job!!! Never got one myself. The best I ever did was to break the knocks or tear up the fletching..

I pass on smaller bucks all the time. But if a guy buys a license and wants to hang it on a spike or a 4... let him. I have some nice racks out in the garage and I have some not so nice ones. I'm proud of all of them. Alot of the not so nice racks provided meat that I donated. I'm just not so convinced on this whole Ar thing. I understand the "lets have giant bucks" thing, but is Ar gonna make that happen?? don't know. Seems the Ar people always overlook the fact that is very important to control the number of deer running around out there and not just the number of big bucks.. I do think AR is going to be state wide with in a few years.

over cast all day and just a few spinkles on and off. Wish it would pour for a good while. It's been dryer than a popcorn fart for way too long. I'm just outside of Syracuse.

I bought this gun in 86 or 87. It's a great rifle. I just been thinking about the bolt thing ever since I checked out my brother inlaws gun. I also have a Ruger bolt action and in the past have owned a couple Winchester 70's. None of those would open up with the safety on. I'll call Remington this week. Thanks for the info.

I assumed the 22LR comment meant that he finished one off with a 22 pistol.
