I have a Remington 700 bolt action that I bought at leat 25 years ago. When the gun is loaded and the safety is on I can work the action/ move the bolt. A couple of days ago I was at my brother inlaws house. He has the same gun but not as old. When his gun is loaded and the safety on you can't work the action/bolt. It is locked in place intil you take it off safe. I never thought much of it till I checked out his 700. Is mine defective?? Is it just a later design change?? Mine is a lefty..his right. Both 30-06 Any ideas?

What are you doing to prep for the 2012 Hunting Season?

Had knee surgery back in May but I should be walking, without a crutch, by late August. I plan on doing a ton of scouting, clearing stands, setting new ones and walking around in the woods (good therapy). Hope to be able to get on the treadmill to build the legs and wind back up. I should be able to. Still beats the hell out of work. -

Where I hunt there is no AR. What are the Ar's you guys are talking about in you area? 6 points or better?? 3 on one side?? 2 on one side?? -
Browning BPS 20 ga. deer gun. rifle cantalever barrel, Nikon 2.5-7 scope, flip up scope caps some ammo. Less than 1 year old. Sighted it in and hunted with it Thanksgiving day...Thats it,,,.$700 firm

i WOULD IMAGINE THAT STANDARD SLUGS WOULD SHOOT ok out of a rifled barrel and would'nt hurt the gun, other than some lead fouling. I guess as long as you scrub the barrel out, you would be good. IMHO

Funny... I ran into an old buddy last night at the gas station. I have'nt seen him in about five years. We got on the subject of hunting which led to shot guns. He told me that he switched back to his old smooth bore last year because he was sick of paying for the sabots. He now shoot his dads old deerslayer with the old style aimpoint. Remington plain foster slugs

I hear ya,, but I think you can still get a real good bow (that feels right to you) in the $400 range, if you look around. At this time of year you can find a higher end bow marked way down. This time of the year you can get a brand new one for a real good price. Don't buy one just because of the discounted price. If it doesn't fit you keep looking. The thing is ..at this time of year they are all marked down.

YEAH!!! THAT!!!

I agree... don't think you have to spend a ton of cash to get a real good bow. You can get a very good, accurate ,reliable quiet bow for a good price. Don't think you have to spend a ton. Do your home work. ..... Good luck

fatsteddie.... my smoothbore is a Winchester 120 (plain Jane) with Iron sights. Awsome gun. accurate as hell and smooth to pump. I bought it years ago. Then, in 93, I went to a rilfed barrel, scoped 1300. IMHO Winchester pumps are the best pump guns, of their kind. Last year I got it in my head that I wanted a 20ga. so I bought a browning BPS and scoped it. The Browning is ok.. but IMO cant hold a candle to the Winchesters as far as acuracy and smooth operation. I'm seriously thinking about calling the swap sheet and dumping the Browning. It's a good gun but I just like the Winchesters better.

Got the sarcasm,....Thanks... but I m just saying if the ammo co. keeps raising the price every year, screw em. I'm not Trump, but I can afford big buck ammo. It's just the point.

With my new gun I first went with the Remington buck hammers because I heard that they were accurate and hit hard. Since they were only 7 or 8 bucks a box, it was a no brainer. As luck would have it the buck hammers flew like crap. The gun hated them. I had to resight with the expensive $tuff.

Too bad. we use to get some real nice trout ot of that creek. I havent fished it in about 5 or 6 years though.....The deer hunting is still good, up by the winery.... lots of bucks

Right now I shoot a Diamond, before that a Hoyt. Both real good bows and depending on the model, not crazy money. What ever you decide on buy it now. This is the time to buy a bow. The stores all have last years models and have them marked way down. These last two, that I bought, were both bought right around this time. I saved almost 50%. You still have to buy the stuff to set it up, rest, quiver, release etc. but at this time alot of that stuff is on sale too. Good luck....buy now.. The Diamond is awsome

Problem is people see a cop talking on the cell phone, speeding not wearing a seat belt etc. and assume that he/she is abusing their authority. Not always true. sometimes? Im sure. You know what they say happens when you "ASSUME"
