  1. Did I mention how much I hate gun season on public land !!!! Had a group a four guys come in at light n set up all around me... They busted two doe's one of which died 60 yds from me ... They all came a runnin over cleaned her up n went back to it ... So I decided to move with all the commotion ... Every where I turned there's an orange vest ! Gave up around 10 n switched lands where I've had a nice 10 point on cam, back in the stand nice n quiet , crossing fingers , could have waxed a couple doe's this morning but I was out of my dmp's zone ... Tonight all bets are off! Good luck guys!
  2. Already had some dbag come n sit 100 yds from me, apparently he's blind cause I flashed him , ugh off to another spot
  3. All my deer this year are from Alabama swamps .. Got a much better hold on the property this year compared the first time I hunted it last year...
  4. Like geno said .. Wind wind wind ... Went out this past week not having time to wash my outers n had the wind blowin in my face over the creek behind me ... Had a small buck tight on a doe at 30 yards for 20 min or so... Was finally able to get a good shot on the doe .... But I feel your pain ... I've switched to scent free detergent in my washer year round n then use sport wash during season ..
  5. I'm a sucker for pepper teryaki beef jerky n cashews ...
  6. Haha no no.. Should have clarified the dates n times are waayyyyy off .... Cams are unprogramable , just glad they take pics at this point ... I note the " date" n "time" I was last in there when I set em n adjust off of that... Stealth cams are JUNK !!!
  7. got this guy showing up in daylight now, and had to pass this guy last night, first time I've seen him n got down n pulled the card n there he was ... hopefully he comes by again on saturday!!!
  8. was hopin to be out this weekend n get another doe before bow ends, but looks like I won't be able to swing it n the 16th its on!
  9. gander mountain sells a 10 $ lumbar support that will help your back tremendously! It weighs absolutely nothing and you can just strap it to your pack for the walk in... i picked one up this year and clip it to the climber for the walk in... cheap easy fix..
  10. unfortunately since I've been in NY I have not had the opportunity to do an all day're.... just me and my dog up here, n I can't let him sit allll day at the house without letting him out at some point... i either hunt the first half of the day or the last half... though opening day of gun Im gonna try n sit as long as i can ....
  11. depends on the spot for me.. some of my stands serve no benefit to having a gun because of close quarters so i use the bow then.. but most of the time i'll take the gun out, especially on public land where the deer are super spooked after the first couple days... this year im takin the 30-06 out opening day because i've already gotten a couple doe's and a nice buck with the bow this year, so I'm looking for a nice buck to come strollin by or get bumped towards me and make it a two buck year... been a little while since i've shot one with the gun... so much of my effort for the year is to get on em early in bow....
  12. Certainly wasnt happening this morning in 8g ! Beautiful cold morning n not even a doe.. Did set a cam this morning on the biggest of three scrapes that popped up since I was out last week .. See what time their mosyin around !?
  13. not a bit!! every year the week before season i shoot a few feild points, n then designate on head to practice after that n they fly the same year after year even when they switched from the 1.75' black heads, to the 2" green heads ...
  14. i'll be out for sure... nice cold crip clear morning.. steady N at 10.. doesn't get any better than that..... doe patrol in the am.. good luck
  15. ya those elmers are no joke!!! basically same head as the shwackers but with the set screw so you can practice with the actual head without deployment... and as you know they are offset sharpened for twisting motion as they go through!!! right now that is probly the only head i would consider switching to n give em a try from my shwachers...
  16. been using the shwackers for 4 years now n i havnt had another mechanical bust through deer like butter like that... 95 % of deer shot go down within 50 60 yds... pass through on double shoulder hit is not a problem is why i'll never switch personally ..
  17. glad the little man got his first deer and with a bow non the less but dad's not teaching his son some good ethics from the get go! one he should have waited till they broke up a little and two anyone else notice the Cmere deer powder sprinkled all over the ground? may be legal in some southern states but I personally do not condone baiting deer to a specific location like that.. food plots are one thing, but a specific pin point location with something that isn't growing out of the ground , naaaa .... thats not hunting ..... now baiting for hogs is another thing being from FL originally cause they are a nuisance and overpopulated but deer naaaa..
  18. Nice one geno !!! Guess he got the trick n u got the treat ! Happy holloween
