Saw two deer...only one i might have had a shot on was a small buck...and i have no tag lol. The doe on the other hand..she was a big girl. Biggest doe ive seen in years. She was pushing close to the size of my buck i shot. Wish she wouldve come in. Did find some nice rubs and fresh scrapes though.

Few years back i got out of work from a nasty factory job. Threw my coveralls on over my work clothes, left my work boots on. Didnt have spray and figured what the heck. Ten minutes after sitting down...huge buck comes from directly downwind right too me...i only had doe tags left. He ended up getting 10 yards before he finally figured out something wasnt right. I think on certain levels scent control is over rated, but that doesnt mean i dont practice it. Gun season i smoke while sitting...still kill deer.

I may sit all day monday. Weather seems perfect and ive got some doe tags to fill! Seen alot of does running around today...but no bucks that i could see.

Im actually looking for different ideas than normal mounting. Im going back and forth if i want to mount this new buck the old fashioned way...or something different. Give me some ideas!

This is true. When not done correctly...thats when the crap hits the fan. Wounded animals, broken jaws etc....

You can slice it anyway you want...advising headshots is not good advice. But as i said to each his own.

Just a simple question was all. I know my ability and could make that a cake shot everyday. Just wouldnt advise to head shots. Can you do it...sure. should you do it? No. But to each his own

How many have you shot in the head with a 223? Just wondering... sub moa and all that range talk is great when your shooting targets that dont breathe or move....

As far as a rifle choice....id say the 308. Yes you can take deer with a 223, but if your shots are under 100 i personally shoot the 20ga over the 223. A 308 is probably a better all around weapon IMO
