If We Had Cell Phone Cameras Back Then.........
PWGUNNY replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
We'd have gotten pics of the second shooter on the grassy knoll. More partying pics of Elvis than Lindsay Lohan. -
All states are experiencing the same shortages. Folks in PA are searching for ammo just like we are.

I haven't had a chance to shoot the new Ruger American, but I've heard great things about the rifle. I'm thinking of buying one for myself.

Yes, Caleb in Smithtown.

Well I was skunked on Sunday. Not only did I not get a fish, I didn't even see one. I always fish the Pond at Caleb Smith, since my waders are at my PA house. I like the pond, I've had some nice success in the past. There were a few times where I didn't land a fish, but I've always seen more than a few. I talked to 2 guys that fished the stream, they didn't see anything. They say stocking is down due to budget cuts and a change in the supplier. I always catch and release, but zippo this time. Next trout trip will be in PA.

Heading out to Caleb Smith S.P. for some fly fishing later. Any recommendations on flies?

I thought it was pretty good. C'mon it's a hunting show, give it a little support.

Very nice pics. I love the first one.

There is a funny youtube video you should search for. I can't do youtube at work, or I would post the link. The video shows Biden talking about how the only gun you need for home defense is a "double barreled shotgun". He claims this is what he bought for his wife to defend herself in their somewhat secluded neighborhood. He repeatedly uses the term,"double barreled shotgun", which just illustrates to me how out of touch this guy really is. The video has some great footage of women shooting shotguns-very funny stuff.

They gave up their guns!
PWGUNNY replied to mmkay's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Good post. The media is too busy brainwashing the masses to bother with details like truth and history. -
Glad you had a positive outcome. I recently invested a decent amount in the stock of SWHC. I also plan on buying an M&P9 and an M&P 22 in a few weeks when I get my pistol license. S&W will no longer be the distributor for Walther after this year.

Interesting. I just learned about this on Sunday. I was doing a clean-up day at my outdoor archery club with a bunch of other members. My group of five were assigned to put up some fencing. While we worked, we discussed firearms, ammo shortage, pistol licensing and one member told us this story of how his buddy was losing all of his firearms due to something his young boy said at school, and now here it is in print. Years ago I had a discussion with my kids about our guns. They are not to be discussed with others outside of our, "circle of trust". I'll update that discussion again. This country is getting absurd.

Help! Explorer keeps crashing on me! (Not internet explorer)

WHenever I run into a software issue, I simply unwind my comuter to an earlier date. Go to system restore, choose a date that precedes your intitial problem and let the system reboot to those earlier settings. It works 95% of the time. -
I agree. Don't pay the inflated prices. I just look whenever I get the opportunity. I am getting low on .22's, but luckily I mostly shoot skeet and there is plenty of shotgun shells out there.

I was at Gander Mountain in Dickson City, PA on Saturday. No .22, no 9mm, nor any other popular shooting cartridges. There are hunting rifle and shotgun ammo available. THose are not affected. It is the popular shooting calibers that are very hard to find. All pistol ammo and .223, .308 are the ones that are scarce.

At age 6, I had an indoor rifle range to shoot my .22. My weekly allowance were boxes of ammo instead of cash. I begged for a BB gun all year long, but my mother wouldn't allow it. At age 13, I got a Mossberg 12ga. pump for Christmas. I still wasn't allowed a BB gun. I finally got my BB gun at age 14. I shot it everyday, before school, after school, all the time. I still have it, a Daisy 880 pump. I still have my Hy Score pellet pistol from over 35 yrs ago. I now shoot a Gamo .177 cal rifle that is pretty sweet.

Your annual dues are very cheap. I wish I had a club around here that offered all that for such a reasonable due. Your trap and skeet fees are right in line with other clubs, which will range from $4-$6/round.

Practice. I shoot 2 -3 times per week because I enjoy shooting and I live close to a good indoor range. Some improvements I have made which I feel were worthwhile are as follows: 1) My former peep was the type with the surgical tubing, I now use a meta peep and it is much better. 2) My former rest was a whisker biscuit. This is a great hunting rest and a real game changer over the years, still very adequate for hunting. I switched to a QAD drop away rest just to add a bit more precision. 3) I shoot with both eyes open. About 2 years ago I decided to do this. It only took about 20 shots to adopt this as routine. Simple. 4) Not an accuracy improvement, but I love FMJ(full metal jacket) arrows. It is much easier removing these arrows from target buts and 3D's

Nassau County Pistol Permit Feb 7 2012- appeared and submitted application. I received an appointment for fingerprinting and Interview of Oct 15 2012. Oct. 15 2012- appeared for fingerprinting and interview. Received 4 referral cards to mail out. March 20, 2013- Called to find out the status of my permit. I am told there is a newer law/procedure that will require me to obtain all 4 referral signatures on one card. That is being mailed to me. I will update when I have more news.

NIce bow. Good luck with it.

It would be great to catch Cuomo in a violation of the safe act and collect the reward. I'm still waiting for this whole nonesense to be tossed out.

Did you hear about the new Italian assault weapon restrictions?
PWGUNNY replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
My Great Grandmother would whack me with a Whammo Paddle. The paddle that had the rubber ball attached by the long rubber band. The ball and rubber band were gone, but the paddle was always kept out on the counter for when my brothers and I got out of hand. My Grandmother just used the traditional wooden spoon. -
One man's roadkill, is another man's dinner. My wife's truck is an Escalade, and if I'm hunting in PA, that's likely the truck I'll be driving. I bought a hitch-haul for the sole use of transporting a buck from the gamelands to the butcher. (Haven't needed it yet)
