  1. Hey Luke- I used to hunt waterfowl every sunday on the south shore. Did that for about 6 years and now I've switched over to pheasants with my Pointer on the weekend. I just finished up deer hunting, so after Thanksgiving it will be Upland till mid March. My buddy and I used to launch our duck boat from Bay Park and then head west to Hewlett harbor. We did a lot of shooting over there, mostly brant, but also geese, mallards, blacks, buffle heads.
  2. Nice buck Retired. I'd be very happy with that one.
  3. Wow, what a trophy! I can't believe how high his rack is.
  4. Sat in a tree this morning. I saw one doe hanging around behind me, but nothing else came along. That could be it for my bowhunting for the year. I rifle hunt upstate next weekend and then it's on to pheasant hunting with the dog.
  5. Well I finally got gas today. Full tank. I haven't been able to get gas for 2 weeks. Now I can go hunting on Saturday. I see some game lands are still closed out east, and waiting on DEC to reopen on Friday if it is possible.
  6. Tough to comment on the shot, unless you were there to see it.
  7. I know north of Westchester has fuel and CT also. My buddy went to CT yesterday to get gas for his work trucks. I am still trying to wait it out. Almost near empty, been running errands on my motorcycle instead of the truck.
  8. I have friends that lost their home on Adelaide Ave. in SI.
  9. DEC site says some Long Island areas closed but there are no specifics that I can find. I am hoping to hunt this weekend but unless I can get gas, I won't be able to make the drive out there.
  10. I'm ok in my section of Oyster Bay. We were lucky. Actually got power back last night. The areas around me were not so lucky. Major damage in all surrounding areas. Everywhere you look trees are down, wires are down. I have not heard of any looting stories on LI, but I see long lines at any service station where gas becomes available. There may be trouble if gas continues to be scarce. I am typing this from the internet in my office. I'm at work being completely useless since I can't reach most of my clients by phone. Good luck and be safe everyone.
  11. I hunted Saturday afternoon from 1:30 pm till dark. I didn't see anything but another hunter.
  12. I saw that on the HuntingPA website this year and I also saw on the same website last year. A shame for the buck to die that way.
  13. Nassau County $200 App fee $ 96 Fingerprint fee Applied Nov. 2011, had interview and fingerprinting on Oct.15 2012. Now I am waiting for approval, my guess Feb. 2013. About a 15 month process. The question I was asked at interview was where do I intend to keep my pistol. (Gun safe in my bedroom).
  14. I didn't know red labels weren't being produced anymore. I love my ruger 20ga. It is a great gun and I love it just as much as my beretta
  15. I'll be out east on Saturday afternoon. This will be my first afternoon hunt, only hunted mornings so far.
  16. Welcome! Good luck with the baby.
  17. Very cool. I hope I get the opportunity to shoot a coyote some day. I had one come up behind me one day while bowhunting in Cobleskill. He took off as soon as I spotted him.
  18. I was hunting pheasant there 2 years ago and thought the area is heading for an accident. There are bikers, hikers, and birders mixed in with hunters. The non hunters are in there without blaze orange on. Not safe at all, and you can bet those folks don't want the hunters in there
  19. Saw the titled of this thread and I was pleased to see it wasn't about deer. I guy showed me how to improve the mouse/rat trap( the snapper style) by putting a couple of brads through the end of the trap, sharp side up. This way when the wire bar snaps down on the rodents neck, it impales him on the brads, and he isn't going anywhere.
  20. If Obama has nothing to hide, why not respond to the offer. It would cause Trump to part with $5 Million of his dough and Obama could direct it to a charity of his choice. Sounds like a win-win.... UNLESS there is something damaging there.
