  1. good job with the muskrat, your still showing off your catch and its not portraying trapping in a negataive way, And that alone will ensure you will be able to trap for the rest of your life,
  2. I'm not an anti anything, But i was trying to be nice and point out the obvious with out actually saying illegal, So the person who posted could maybe discover what was wrong and correct it, I once put a trail cam over a pile of corn that fell where the farmer combined the field and posted pics on my face book, D.E.C was at my house 2 days later ready to write tickets, until i showed him the spot, I was going to get arrested, Just saying this might be a website but it does have a real affect on peoples lives, And what you post can cause a person to get arrested, And i wasn't trying to bash you just help, but take it as you please, Mike Rossi is 100% correct by his statement, It doesn't matter what happened its what the pic portrayed, Hunting and trapping is a privilege and these days comes under fire alot, If a comment like i made about your pic angered you how are you gonna feel when its the center piece of a anti trapping revolution, And somebody who does not trap See's it and makes their decision on that pic alone, Oh by the way i also trap But have never posted a pic of an animal in a trap because of the negative affect they can have,
  3. Im just saying that and that coon being illegal. You are not allowed to set a trap that might cause an animal to hang suspended in N.Y , I was just trying to save you all some other issues but if you must ask really, then YES really read your rules, I was trying to be nice, Sorry i had to point out the obvious and then post it clear as day on here for everybody to read, If you question what im saying im sure you will find the statement true by checking on NY.D.E.C its there plain as day, Again i was trying to be nice, I love to hunt but hate to see animals suffering and thats what that pic is displaying, Sorry dont like it dont post,
  4. great job, My only question is why would you post pics of them in the traps, don't you have others that would maybe not put a negative look on the sport, Seeing that anybody can look at these pics, I'm all for trapping , Now pics of your catch after removing them from the traps that would be cool, But hanging from a tree by one foot isn't something that portrays trapping in a positive way, Kinda like the anti hunting pic on face book of the fawn that came from a doe some hunter shot, everybody who hunts knows that deer birth in the spring, but it only takes 1 bad pic to put a lot of negative thoughts into it, especially to uneducated non hunters or anti hunters, But great job and just maybe for future reference when posting pics,

    Late Season

And thats the reason i called the D.E.C officer in my area considering he is the one i will be dealing with, Sorry if people dont read the rules as far as the turning into a doe tag thats not what the debate that my buddies and i were having, But that part is true as well,

    Late Season

page 26 in your book according to Keith lavanway region 8 D.E.C. officer as of a conversation yesterday at 10:30 am stated to me that your regular season buck tag is still good as a buck tag in the late muzzleloader, archery season. he actually settled the debate that me and a bunch of buddies were having. seeing as most of them haven't shot a buck this year, so pretty much from the conversation i had it seems as if you could literally shoot two bucks in the late season if you haven't filled your tags.

    Late Season

Might go out with the muzzle loader this weekend coming up, I still have my regular season buck tag to fill,
  8. Ticks scare me, I'm not afraid to admit it, In years past they have been bad this year i didn't find one on me and my buck didn't have any that i noticed, That totally surprised me i'm used to finding at least 20 of them a year, But with all the problems they can cause i'm happy and wont complain.
  9. The distance you drive, is depending upon the cover and terrain, Set your standers so the wind is at their backs and blowing into the area to be driven sounds silly but deer around here tend to run into the wind, Now it never hurts to put a guy back where the drivers started your gonna have deer get through and kick back behind you and its a good spot to ambush them, Whoever is setting up your drives has to have knowledge of the area and the standers need to wait for the deer to get past them before shooting, We generally do not allow drivers to shoot in our drives, No deer is worth killing your friend or family and in the thick stuff you just cant know where everybody is, Besides most of the stuff we push you cant carry your wallet in and expect it to be with you when you come out, We call these places no mans land, Because after you do it no man wants to do it again, Good luck be safe,
  10. On my back pack during bow, During gun on its on my orange hunting vest,
  11. the last 2 weekends every time we pushed out a buck there has been at least two no giants but they are hanging together,
  12. And im insane for believing that hanging my stand in my street clothes is a good idea , Iagree 100% when they get used to your scent they can care less if your there, Been doing it for years with good success, Im pretty sure your actions is what will get you not your scent,
  13. I know that in 8j last year if you brought your deer to the butcher and then didnt report it, At the end of the season you got a wonderful ticket for 250, I had to go to court for a traffic ticket and there was alot of guys in there that had those failure to report tickets, The town and state made alot of money that day,
  14. whats it matter if your not baiting, Ive always thought that if D.E.C thought you were hunting over bait they would just catch you in the act seeing as they dont need a warant to go look,
  15. lol i know the feeling, started getting sleepy one night in my stand got down went to the car set the bow on the ground while i got changed back into my regular clothes shut the trunk backed up. You guessed it ran over my bow, Busted the sight bent my quiver acceptable loss, considering what could have happened, A couple weeks later shot my biggest buck to date, Consider yourself lucky because i do,
  16. I dont know where you hunt but i have seen D,E,C give tickets for shooting 1min past leagal shooting light, Thats no bull hockey either and if your coming out of the woods after leagal light by law your bow or gun is supposed to be disabled with a lock of some type, Unless your carrying 4 shot or larger for coyotes and then you better not have slugs on you, Just saying the last 2 days its been hard to climb out of my tree at sunset and walk out to sit in my car and see the deer start moving, I understand why the law is there i agree with it for gun hunting, but bow hunting its just silly, The D.E.C is driving around how hard is it for them to pick a road listen for the shot and wait for you at your car until you come out of the woods, and telling them your watch is off is not acceptable at least around here, What does a person such as my self say when i dont carry a watch i use the clock in my cell phone its linked to the atomic clock so its always right, Im not risking the fines and the name in the paper over shooting a deer, To me its not worth it, This is a pic of my woods 15 mins, before leagal light yesterday, Im the only one in it the tree in the middle of the picture is 23 yds away the deer trail is this side of the tree my stand is 16 feet up and if deer walked down it i would have had to wait, im sorry if i find that silly
  17. 6:15 am i heard the first shots, then they never stopped until around 10 then i started seeing deer, but 4:42 is way to early to be out of the woods on a day like yesterday, they should have at least let us be out till 5 just saying,
  18. A name Does matter. why wouldn't the name of the guy matter?, How many other people need to get upset or angry because of somthing like this, If it was my mount everybody would know, Half ass work is not acceptable no way no how. Even if he does fix it the memories with your dad are always gonna be overshadowed because of the mess this guy made, So every time you look at the mount the first thing you will remember is the shitty job the guy did, not the hunt itself, You cant replace memories with loved ones and friends but taxidermists well they are replaceable. JMHO
  19. ya send them my way, I wouldnt think about using them I have really good luck in the early season with calls, I do alot of blind calling and get real good reactions from deer, Then there is a small period just before the chase phase that i cant get a deer to respond to anything, They will acknowledge my call but then walk straight away, The night i shot my buck this year i tipped the can 3 times and my buck came to me on a string, I think i will always use one.
  20. I'm more concerned about the way my street clothes smell, But if they are color blind how do they manage to pick us out, wait its by ultra violet light? And if we buy special sprays and laundry detergents we can hide this, Its a wonder why people even where camo if it doesn't matter and the deer can see us? Now i would like to think that with all the colors that are in the woods, Why would mother nature make deer color blind? Ive seen a fawn one time running through a field playing with the squirrels and every time that little fawn would come to a yellow flower he would stop and smell it, Now if your color blind you cant see yellow, red or green. I'm not sure? I'm lucky and can see in color, If they are color blind why can you sit in your stand and watch deer eat the red maple leaves off the ground as they wonder through the woods is it possible they recognize the shape? Or is it by the way they smell? I don't know, , I have read the research and compared to humans they are lacking rods or some shit in their eyes so there for they cant see in color, But what if you believe in evolution and in that case why are deer brown and white? If they are color blind it wouldn't matter because they couldn't tell anyway and wouldn't have been able to breed out undesirable colors! So i'm going to continue believing that they can see a lot more colors than most people believe and until i can look through their eyes and see for myself i wont believe any of it, Now the one thing you can watch out for is the nose now that is a very powerful defensive weapon for them, But some smells they are so used to that they just don't care if they smell it now again. And that's the questions i have about deer being color blind, And my opinion of that topic, Good luck hunting
  21. Dude i said street clothes so that makes me a thug or a ghetto rat, I don't live in a hood, But if you choose to hunt in your jeans and a t-shirts thats your choice but i have hunting clothes and street clothes, just like i have hunting boots and work boots, the work boots aren't in the corner collecting dust while i smoke blunts on the curb either, I live breathe and sleep whitetails, Every Day i go to work for one reason and that's to be able to hunt, Now i'm sorry that for some reason your better than i am, and that i don't believe, but its apparent that you do, I was just trying to give another person a piece of advice that works for me and the area i hunt, All 120 acres of leased farm land in the heart of the Finger Lakes, And by the way i didn't pay the lease with food stamps either, But you can believe that deer cant tell the difference between a person just walking through or a person who is hunting them, I choose not to be that ignorant in my beliefs, GO for a walk and just watch deer, then go for a walk and try to get as close as you can without them noticing, I guarantee you the reaction is different between the 2 encounters, And the deer will act differently when approaching that area again, As far as wearing camo daily if that's your thing then whatever, Me i don't wear camo in public, I change in the field no matter what the weather is, Bur i gots to go there aRE 40'S to be drank and blunts to be rolled i might even get real crazy and sell some crack in a little while, but hey life is rough on the street, but ill be good as long as i don't get my tim's dirty right, shizzle my nizzle nizzle
  22. Well that's the year i decided that its time to stop hunting with just anybody and get a little more serious about the sport, I also decided to become a hunter safety instructor hoping to maybe make a difference on the youth before they get corrupted, Its a scary thing seeing your buddy lying there blood pouring out of his face from the 12 gauge slug that just decided to make the inside of his head home, My friend survived and you can barely tell he got shot but it should have never happened and is completely avoidable, I still hunt with his family to this day and i feel good that they trust me enough to do that, But to start a story that way is not a bad thing, Its just coming from sombody who has been through it,
  23. Really its not that hard fellas do your pre-season scouting hang your stands early, But when the rut hits you just have to do some in season scouting and bring a stand when you do, If you jump a buck and there is a doe with him, set up a stand near where he stops to check his back trail, do it during the day and bring a buddy with you and make lots of noise while wearing street clothes, watch were he goes don't get down and try to be sneaky, And guess what that deer thinks you are a another stupid human that means him no harm, sit that stand that night and get ready for some action, I guarantee you will get a shot if he doesn't smell you, as far as trying to pick a stand i just do enie-meenie minie-mo any other time, But really wear street clothes jump a buck watch were he goes and hang a stand, Ive done it for 3 years in a row and each year have got the buck i wanted to shoot,
  24. I'm going with full sneak with a left look, The wall i'm putting it on is visible from every where in the house and the left look will allow you to see the whole rack from everywhere, And when i get him back ill be sure to post pics, Its hard to imagine that it might take till june, Thats a long time!
