  1. Have a new ruger American .308. I use federal 150 grain ballistic tip in my browning 30-06. Does any body have experience with this gun? Not sure what ammo I should try
  2. Hunted my first 2-3 years with my uncles marlin .35 but Been using my browning a bolt II 30-06 for about 13 years. I just won a Ruger American .308, looks like a nice gun so I may give it a shot this year. I'm a little nervous though because I'm so used to and comfortable with the trigger on my browning. I haven't gotten a chance at a big buck yet, feel like I'd want what I'm most comfortable with if he ever does pass by me during gun season. We'll see...
  3. I guess there's nothing you can really do but call the police. People will go out of their way to annoy hunters, then run home and eat a burger or turkey sandwich as if an animal didn't die for it
  4. Has anyone experienced anti hunters (while hunting)? I know everyone has spoken to them in general but I came across a video of a woman who was on private property, and wouldn't leave. I think I would flip my lid if someone came onto my property and interfered.
  5. Has anyone tried this to create bedding areas? I have watched a few videos and I'm curious because they emphasize leaving enough on the tree to keep it alive for a longer time. Is that important for the bedding area? Or are they just talking about preserving trees here.
  6. http://www.wideopenspaces.com/top-10-worst-deer-hunting-states/ [emoji26] all states in driving distance suck lol
  7. Sorry everyone. I didn't mean to start a religious debate. Just wanted to know if I needed to add a Kevlar vest to my camo..
  8. Anybody ever use these? http://m.hornady.com/store/308-Win-125-gr-SST-Custom-Lite/ Supposed to be 43% less recoil. Would they still do the job on a whitetail?
  9. I am always worried about a trail cam missing or a stand being stolen when I go up to the property. Now I have to worry about the Taliban knocking on my door.
  10. http://beforeitsnews.com/opinion-conservative/2013/04/islamberg-usa-the-muslim-only-town-where-residents-learn-guerilla-warfare-tactics-2624514.html My property is about 20 minutes passed Hancock. Am I going to have to start carrying grenades with me?
  11. ..308 win. I looked at the list and there is a 300 win mag right under it. My mistake.
  12. Hey everyone. I won a Ruger American .308 win mag in a raffle the other night. 1. Does anyone know anything about ruger and this gun. Looks pretty nice. Reviews say that it's shoots great and is good with recoil. 2. Anyone that shoots .308, what's the lowest grain I can use that will still have good knockdown power for whitetail. I'm trying to reduce recoil as much as possible for my father. I shoot 30.06 so I don't know anything about the caliber. Thanks in advance for any advice
  13. I live in a beautiful little hell hole named NYC. There is no local farm lol. As soon as I move I plan on growing some
  14. Dont know if anyone has seen this http://livingtraditionally.com/fda-finally-admits-chicken-meat-contains-cancer-causing-arsenic/ Eat more Venison!!
  15. Lol you want a wall mounter every year? I just want 1!!!
  16. I was actually referring to someone else that seemed to get offended by your opinion. Lol
  17. Pan fry with chopped onion. Add chop tomatoes, wine and if you like a hot pepper or two. Salt pepper. Let it simmer in there for a while. Love squirrel!
  18. Why the hell do people get offended by other people's opinions?
  19. Definitely Shoot. I don't look at my phone that early because the glow might be seen, so I wouldn't know what time it is anyway [emoji1]
  20. That stinks. What's the reason you chose bow?
  21. a few things 1- love the feeling of being outdoors. There's something about watching the woods wake up that I can't explain to a non-hunter 2-the meat. I love venison and small game as well. If I could not buy anymore beef or pork id be happy. Believe me I like those meats as well but I don't trust what farmers are pumping into these animals. If I could bet what the main reason for the cancer epidemic in this country is attributed to, I'd say it's what we eat. I haven't seen any Whitetails on steroids yet. 3- the adrenaline rush I get when I hear that twig snap, see a deer coming through before I could see if it's a buck or doe, or when you just see a deer appear out of nowhere is something I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I'm guessing that it's something you have to love from a young age. Hopefully I can pass it down to my kid(s) 4- Challenge. I usually fill the freezer but even if you give me a bazooka, the deers survival senses are so good that I'm always the underdog.
  22. If legal time is 4:30 and a trophy (whatever that may be to you, could be a doe for meat) walks by at 4:31 while your about to get up. I don't believe anyone would not take the shot. And I mean take the shot in real life. Obviously behind the keyboards nobody would ever say they'd dare touch the trigger.
