1. My family went to a campground we went to every summer and I brought one of my friends with me for the week. My friend and I kept seeing these two girls walking around so we would wave and say hi to them. We played a game of volleyball with them and we had to leave for the night in the middle of the game and my wife left the next day. We didn't know where they were from or much of anything about them. A week later I had to start summer school and ran into her on the first day. We hung out for a few weeks and then started dating. That was 13 years ago this month. We had a few break ups because I was young and dumb and didn't realize what I had. I smartened up and we have been married for 6 years and have a 4 year old daughter
2. I have eaten road kill deer before. Never stopped to pick it up myself but I remember as a kid my mothers friend was bringing us home and hit a deer the trooper asked if she wanted it or knew anyone that wanted it. My father went and picked it up knowing it was fresh and it had only been hit in the head so the body wasn't damaged. Also a few years ago my father hit a yearling in the head with his week old jeep and we ended up having an excellent cook out that weekend. The most tender deer I had ever eaten. I wouldn't pick up a road kill deer unless I knew how fresh it was and I knew that there was only damage to head but if I didn't have any venison in the freezer and really had a craving for it I would pick it up if it fell under those circumstances.
3. Sorry to hear about this phade. I had a garage fire in may and lost all my hunting supplies except my guns and bow. It is not a good feeling and the insurance companies don't make it any easier. I hope things get better for you.
4. I have to agree grow. I got into bow season because everyone I talked to said they saw more deer in bow season and it would give me more time in the woods which was a huge part of the decision making because I don't always get a vacation during deer season and only have time to spend one maybe 2 days a week in the woods. I could care less if they opened crossbow to archery season I would continue to use my bow I have become comfortable enough with my accuracy I wouldn't spend the money on a crossbow. That being said the only time I have ran into someone in the woods while hunting it was my uncle heading out as I was heading in and I wasn't surprised at all to see him. I find poachers to be more of a problem in my area than a high density of hunters.
5. I agree but this NYS they are more worried about I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine.
6. The message of necessity is a clause in 3 day aging period. It has been in place since 1936. It was intended to be used only in true emergencies. Cuomo has used it less than some past governors. He just uses it to pass the most controversial bills that he knows that he is going to get the most public input on to force them through. He used it to pass the bill approving gay marriage.( I'm not saying I am for or against gay marriage but how was that an emergency?) He aslo used it to pass the safe act and a few other things. He doesn't always use the message of necessity but when he does you can be sure it is so he can push it through without any controversy or debate before it is passed.
7. This court ruling doesn't say that the safe act is constitutional it. It says the the message of necessity was constitutional. Basically the court doesn't want to step on the toes of the governor so he can continue to use the message of necessity to force whatever he wants on us. It also states that the message of necessity wasn't really justified but it was up to the legislature to make that decision not the court. So basically the message of necessity is constitutional because the legislature let it happen, It shouldn't have been used but deal with it. Typical NYS
8. 1974 mg midget, 2009 ford escape (wife's car), 2010 ford fusion, Just sold my 1998 ford ranger looking for another beater truck something a little bigger.
9. I "work" in a bank!! Lol. We got Bonnie and Clyde first and the names just fit them when they were puppies and about a year later bandit came along and and the name went with the other two. Legal disclaimer: I am not an bank robber, outlaw, or affiliated with any banks other than having accounts with them. Lol. I actually take care of the disabled.
10. I use 2-50gr. T7 pellets with a 230 gr. TC Shockwave and Winchester 209's I have cloverleafs at 100 yards out of my wolf. I am completely happy with that, with my first muzzleloader I tried a lot of different combinations of powder, bullets, and primers and could never keep it on paper. I am completely confident in my wolf with this setup.
11. This is our beagle spaniel mix Bandit And these are our boston terriers Bonnie and Clyde. Clyde is on the left and Bonnie is on the right. They are brother and sister.
12. I live in 5A. I Have a camp in Brasher also hunt in Westville both are in 6A and also hunt in Brandon in 6F.
13. If you are using tapatalk there was an issue if you used a Facebook account to register on the forum originally. I don't know if it is still an issue. But I had to have burmjohn fix it fore a while back. I had to create a second account and have all my old account info transferred to my new account including my original username. I'm sure it was a pain for burmjohn to fix it all but he was great and had it done very quickly. Thank you again burmjohn!! With that said I have since found out it is frowned upon to create a second account and would suggest you contact an admin for help it might make their job easier to help you without creating a second account.
14. I have read a few articles on them. The beards only came out during hunting season at first and once the tv shows started they kept them. Everyone on the show has a college education except Si. There is also an older brother that was a pastor for years and just came back to the company in the last few years but discovery didn't want to put him on the show because he is clean shaven and doesn't really " fit in".
15. I have a cheap traditions buckhunter that I attempted to start muzzleloading with. I could never get it to group well (I'm talk couldn't keep it on a paper plate) so never felt comfortable enough using for hunting I would just go sit in the woods with it and watch the wildlife.
A couple years ago I was on my way to the range to attempt to sight it in again and I stopped at Walmart for more targets and somehow left with a CVA WOLF. It was under $200 and worth every penny. It is accurate, easy to clean, and goes bang every time.
16. The possibilities of the hearing on Friday are they decide to place an injunction halting the safe act until the final decision is made at the end of the case or the decide not to place an injunction letting this law stand until the final decision is made at the end of the case. This case is not claiming that the safe act violates out second amendment rights it claims that the safe act violates our Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment protections against government seizure of private property without “due process and just compensation.”
17. I am from cwhite's area right outside the adirondacks and the biggest crops the Mexican come up here to harvest is spinach and potatoes. Most of the grow operations around here are just local hillbillies. Our biggest contributors smuggle it among other things down from Canada. I would much rather see them just smuggling pot instead of all the other crap they are bringing in and not just from Canada.
18. So the court date has been rescheduled for Friday may 3rd. The state has not answered to the constitutionality of the law so the injunction is still possible.
19. No injunction. hearing date moved to a future date. Don't know if this means no injunction at all or if they are waiting for a further date to decide. Waiting to hear more.
20. Today is the day the state has to show the constitutionality of the safe act in court in the Tresmond case. If the state fails to do so there will be in an injunction placed. No way to tell how this is going to turn out for us with the way things have been going but I am hopeful.
21. I have never tried the leaves, I always just cut them off while cleaning the bulbs. I will have to try some this year. There are acres of leaks around my parents house we get some bulbs that are that are decent sized. After a couple of hours of digging them up they add up:). My wife hates when I bring leaks home. I am no longer allowed to bring them in the house until they are cleaned and ready for the freezer.
22. I have been watching the island I get my leaks from and some look 6"-8" tall but I'm not even to waste my time crossing the high watered river for another couple of weeks. Right now there are small patches of leaks in a couple weeks the entire island will be covered in them. You can eat them raw, grilled, sautéed petty much anyway you want to use them. I love them sautéed with burgers or venison. And yes you can freeze them I still have a little bit left from last year. I just clean them up really good and put them in quart freezer bags. Some people also pickle them and say they are out of this world that way but I am not real big on things that are pickled.
Also chives are good they aren't as strong but we used to eat them all the time as kids they grew everywhere and we would pick them and eat them as we played.
23. I have an account. I tend to lurk more than anything.
24. I can find ammo for any gun I own except .22lr which I have had about 4 bricks of. I have been wanting to get into reloading for a year or two now. I finally took the first step in march and built myself a reloading bench and got a couple manuals. I went to order a press kit and components and was disappointed that everything I was looking at was on back order. I chose a bad time to find a new hobby but I am ready when things become available.
25. What make and model is the shotgun you have. You can try eBay. I bought a slug barrel and a home defense barrel for my mossberg 500 on eBay a couple years ago for around $75 a piece. It looks like now a 28" bird barrel for the mossbergs are around $150 buy it now. If you keep your eyes open on an auction you might be able to get one for under or around $100.
