  1. Ok, let’s get a group together to buy it. I will contribute by doing closing for free.
  2. The best part is that it’s like he never saw a moose before. If they are sparing in your yard, you would think they are not that uncommon.
  3. https://vm.tiktok.com/xwXXTq/
  4. Lol. I like the bushcrafter too. I like a knife with some heft. But generally my knives are in Jeep, pack or ATV. I don’t carry them all the time.
  5. Tough to beat benchmade. I have few benchmades I really like and a couple of esees. I prefer a 3.5-4” blade for field dressing. Probably in the minority on that size. I like the benchmark crooked river and grizzly creek for folders. But for cleaning reasons, I actually prefer fixed blades. Esee 4 and the more narrow saddle mountain skinner.
  6. Balistol on rifles. Brush, patches and dry swab on ML with a breech plug cleaner.
  7. Very nice Dave! Congrats again!
  8. Ahhhh .... Dobie was not threatening either so that may work too. Figured you were thinking outside the box.
  9. If he goes that far, he would be in better shape than you may think. I bet he is within 1/4 mile of the bone fragments especially with the heavy cover.
  10. Bedded doe. 20g took 1/2 of head off. Felt like I had to hide it from family when butchering. Dead is dead but it felt wrong.
  11. Live from breakout room. No deer seen but lots of screaming 11 year olds.
  12. DRT if a good shot but gruesome. I made that mistake once. Never again.
  13. Yeah, I don’t have a smaller caliber. Plus I want to use thermal and it’s set on 223
  14. Sorry. Back to your program. I hunt mostly shotgun areas until the last two years. Killed deer with 270 and 30-30. Both did the job. Out to 300, I am sure the 270 is a better option. Creedmoor is next up.
  15. But that’s the point. You wait for the deer to turn for a reason. It’s a higher percentage shot. I understand your point that you like to track and your style may require that shot. Still not a shot most of us would teach our kids to take. If that makes me too proud, so be it.
  16. Now that my feet are wet, I am looking forward to diving in.
  17. Was hoping to sneak out tonight for an hour or two to hunt Fox/yotes but since one property is shotgun only for deer and ML season is still open, can’t use the rifle with the thermal. I guess patience is a virtue.
  18. Not directed to me but I don’t like those shots either but it is a little different. You can aim at vitals from front vs traveling 1/2 the deer before hitting vitals. Either way, I much prefer broadside or close to broadside. A deer directly facing you also leaves little room for error. Would you take that shot at say 200yds? Would you take take a broadside shot at 200yds? I suspect many would answer no to the first and yes to the second. Why - less room for error.
  19. People don’t like when one tells them what to do or what they did was unethical.. I get that but I will simply say it’s not a shot I would recommend to anyone learning to hunt. Nor will I take that shot. A few inches off, deer angled slightly etc and you have a problem. Not worth it to me.
  20. Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of men? The Shadow knows.
  21. I think we can all agree that some shots provide a greater margin of error on a less than perfect shot. The Texas heart shot is not one of them. Wolc can call me proud but I am not teaching my daughter to shoot deer in the rear.
