  1. This one is already broken in. Lol.
  2. Someday killing one with a selfbow would be awesome. I don't quite have the energy to make my own bow yet, but it would be cool!
  3. Longbows are usually longer and more D shaped when strung meaning the string does not sit against the limb at rest. For that reason, longbows are quieter generally. Longbows are usually not cut past center on the shelf so they need a weaker arrow (more difficult to tune well) and usually are a bit slower too. Its mostly preference but most people seem to gravitate towards recurves under the idea that they are shorter, quicker, easier to tune to an array of arrows and more forgiving for hunting. Recurves are also usually heavier and have little handshock whereas longbows often have some handshock on release. I seemed to find what may be the perfect longbow for me as it has a locator grip more like a recurve but longbow limbs. Cut close enough to center to be easy to tune and short enough to shoot in my basement range. Yet it feels and shoots great and is whisper quiet. I am really surprised that I like it this much.
  4. My recurves are going to be mad but I decided this year I will be hunting with a longbow. Picked up my first this week and am already having a blast shooting it. Quiet as all get out. Kind of wondering why I never tried one before. I know there are some other single string hunters. Any longbow shooters here?
  5. Yep - cut the mop and bulked up a bit. That's me. Also stopped smoking the whacky tobacky!
  6. Hold firm Biz. I have turned down some huge offers and they just keep going up. Quality art always increase in value over time. I may even paint one more and sell them both to pay for the kids college tuitions.
  7. Wait till Christmas. My bucks have more balls than they did alive. Natalie prefers decorating them to the tree
  8. Nothing wrong with that Jala and entering him if you choose. Hope you didn't take (at least my) comments otherwise. I did the same thing. Congrats on a bruiser.
  9. In fairness to Tommy, he just asked how to delete profile and for no negative comments. I guess the answer is that it can't be deleted.
  10. It ain't all that hard to get close if you want. Punch the numbers in to the BC website. They have a calculator and tell you where to measure. But yes, many over estimate.
  11. I can honestly say that one of my most proud personal moments hunting was a doe harvest. Vivid memories of that one. And it had a score of 0!
  12. And that's the point. The score or weight or number of points should not change how one feels about their successful hunt.
  13. Kicking it off with Natalie the Deer slayer
  14. plaque is a nice touch. haven't done that with a mount yet, but might look around. Buy that separate or did it come from taxi that way?
  15. Yep- when scored as a typical any lack of symmetry between two sides is deducted from grosss. Just means you could have two bucks with identical gross scores and only one be eligible for PY. The buck I had scored was like 135 and change gross and 129 and change net.
  16. 125 net Rob. No idea if I would enter a booner. Thought I would enter the PY and then just didn't see the need. Hope I have that dilemma at some point.
  17. well lets start the bidding! I want a wooly original!
  18. serious question. Do you sell these or just have an enormous number of really cool carvings around the wooly abode?
  19. I just scored exclusive permission to hunt yotes on a ridiculous amount of farmland. Won the yote lottery today! About 1hr from home which is doable, especially for the sheer acreage.
  20. Congrats. So cool. I wanted to a PY and NYSBBC buck too but once it happened, I never entered in either. Knowing that he met the standard was good enough for me. Great buck!
  21. 7% is ripped. Like not dieting for competition bodybuilder ripped . Great job.
  22. Not sure how they are passed on but good point Rob!
