Anyone shooting any indoor archery over the winter
moog5050 replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
I really like shooting the nfaa blue face with a recurve in my basement all winter. It’s an objective means of determining how well one is shooting. A league would be fun. Or just having a couple of guys to shoot with weekly like those Buffalo ruffians do. -

Have a great day Jay! And enjoy your 34th year! -
Guess I have perfect genetics to live 10,000 years ago. Grampy told me his diet secret that worked great for him. Eat less food and you lose weight. But that doesn’t sell books. It also requires some self control.

I have heard it call intermittent fasting I believe. If it limits total caloric intake it will help.

Tacit admission! I knew it.

I think I saw a very tall lanky but strong 40 something wearing duck waders in that brawl footage from Wed. Tacks do you have something you want to tell us?
-
Yep. He certainly didn’t resemble you. Lol
-
Very true. Although I was sued once in my career as a bouncer - I mean doorman.
-
Not sure, were you being choked out for a while? lol

I enjoyed a fist fight as much as anyone when I was young and didn't know better. Biggest difference was that back then guns were really not a likely part of the equation. Nowadays, even kids need to be careful about that stupidity.

I actually think Eastview is a nicer mall, but for me that is like rating levels of torture.
-
Careful, you just may see a bigger one as the season rolls on and you will have to just watch him walk. lol Makes for a bit of a boring archery season. But the coats are nice that early. And post a pic. That was a big bodied buck as I recall.

So I happened to head out to Buffalo to spend a Cabelas gift card on Weds afternoon and then we went to the mall so my family could do some shopping. The place was packed with teenagers. As we walk by the food court, I explain to Ana that the last time I was there 25-30 years ago, I was in a big fight (different time for me) where we knocked down tables etc. in the food court. Some smart a$$ kids said something stupid to my then girlfriend and I was always looking for a reason back then. As I start getting bored, I tell Ana that Natalie and I were going to the truck to watch a movie and her and Joel could keep shopping. Sure enough, they come out and describe a major fight in the food court an hour later. What are the chances? Saw it on the news this morning too. Thankfully, I was not a participant this time, but things sure don't change much. And I quickly remembered why I never go to malls anymore - nothing to do with fights, just really boring and crowded. I did pick up a nice shooting bench at Cabelas to sight in this year.

Zuba - our GSD Kiki is short haired and still a handful or truckfull when shedding. But a great and smart dog. And naturally very protective of the home. Enjoy the new addition.

Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
moog5050 replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
Ours is pretty much a family hauler. My ford does whatever I need a pick up to do but I am not a farmer so you may be right. -

Never thought of an SUV as a work truck but maybe we do. -
Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
moog5050 replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
To each his own. I had the escalade with 0 significant problems at 150k plus and my current ford has 82k with zero issues. My buddy owns an independent garage and when I asked him, he said he had just as many Toyotas with major problems in the past 10 years as any other brand. I tend to trust his judgment as he has no reason to lie to me and works on different vehicle makes daily. By the way, he just bought a new Tahoe for whatever that is worth. And I am not a brand loyal guy. I have owned GMC, chevy, BMW, ford, mazda, Toyota and others (no dodges though). But you should buy what you trust. -

Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
moog5050 replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
Perhaps justifiably based on experience, but I suspect many that recommend against the American brands relate the issues of decades ago to todays vehicles. I really don't think Toyota is any more reliable today than a chevy or ford. 10-20 years ago, yep I would say Toyota had a bettor record. but my experience with late model American vehicles has been great. That includes GM and Ford. -
Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
moog5050 replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
I will chime in for the Tahoe/Yukon. My wife's 2008 escalade never had a major issue and we traded it in at well over 150k. We bought a new 2018 Tahoe. Love it. They really did a nice job upgrading the interior from a 2007 Tahoe I owned. I suspect the Tahoe will have the most roomy interior. That said, when I asked my buddy who is a mechanic, he said all the brands have good and bad - Toyota and Honda included. To some extent its luck of the draw on the specific vehicle, so buy what you like, fits you best and is the best deal. -
Ruger American /Savage Axis/Savage Axis 2 ?
moog5050 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I personally like the accutrigger, but I know not everyone does. That alone would push me to the axis 2. But are there any other differences. I have savage 10 predator that came with the accustock. Its definitely an upgrade from the standard stock. No flex at all.
