I like short barrels because they are easier to move through the woods and most of my shots are closer range. But I always thought I was sacrificing accuracy. Maybe not: https://www.google.com/amp/www.wideopenspaces.com/the-truth-about-barrel-length-muzzle-velocity-and-accuracy/amp/

Yowzers.
-
Those are daggers. Crazy cool buck.
-
Wow I had no idea some used that joint. I have always used distal same for a gun. Distal (or just slightly lower) for string on the recurve too.
-
Lol. Not sure knuckle counts as a finger joint but if it does, I wasn't counting it. Do you really use the middle joint over the trigger?
-
I bet it was second from hand, i.e. Joint closest to tip. The barrel would be too short for me to place my finger behind the trigger when drawing if I had the trigger at the joint closest to hand.

Pretty sure you are good on tuning when bareshafts are good at 50! No doubt form affects bare shafts more. I know that when I go to a deeper hook on the string and change nothing else, the arrow will show weaker. Probably because I am actually getting a cleaner release.
-
Not sure. I know that if bares and fletched hit together out to 30 with either my recurve or compound, the broadheads will be dead on. 20 doesn't always tell the story. I don't shoot the compound much anymore but 30 is where I used to bareshaft. I figure by that point, if an arrow is going to veer off it will show. So you may very well be right that beyond that it's a form issue. I never had problems shooting BHs at 40 and 50 with the compound when I bareshafted to 30. I remember one dealer telling me I was chasing a ghost when I was buying shims because my bareshafts were slightly nock right at 30yds with my 80lb compound. He was probably just suggesting I was a bit too anal and was probably correct. Lol
-
Admittedly I am lazy and I also cut and fletch my own. I keep plenty of bareshafts ready to go. But yes I Robin Hood more than I would if I shot 3. Keep in mind Biz, I often shoot more than 100 arrows in a session so it would be a long session if I stopped every 3 to retrieve arrows.
-
Not true. 90yds is hard with an Olympic compound. That's impressive shooting buckmaster. Happy with the tune though. Got out to 30 and my 2 bare are grouping within margin of error of the 10 fletched.
-
3 bare 2 fletched. 22yds. I think I need to cut 1/2" off the FMJs. Only arrow with the left nock. Going to shoot some 30yd groups later to confirm. Then out to 90yds like Buckmaster - yeah righttttttt!
-
Finders keepers. Lol
-
How many were accurate with that recurve? Just curious if hunters spent much more time practicing when that was the primary option.
-
90yds. Holy smokes.
-
No bow shooting when I took the course but doesn't hurt to have it.

Quick update. Down 13lbs at end of week 3. One belt hole down too. One of the group is way way down. But I am happy with the start. 2lbs more a week for 6 months will push me 20lbs below my college playing weight. Saturday is my cheat day. Yay. Honestly it hasn't been bad. Just need to stay with it. Edit: Actually I think it's end of week 4 or thereabouts. Lol

2 bucks. Both very nice. Good luck

Never mind score, that guy is a tank and no doubt mature!

As you point out, without any credible definition, use whatever term you like. They are all correct for Rochester. We are in the western side of the state, we are upstate by comparison to more than 1/2 the state and we are located close to the finger lakes.
-
I have used the term WNY, upstate NY and finger lakes area to describe Rochester. I have no idea what is correct.

Had a Bar (safari i think)in 30-06 and sold it 6 years ago. Regretted it. It was a shooter. -

The temptation was too much. Thanks for a great deal Bill! Hope to return the favor at some point. -
Grampy I admit I have a block foot but can wear standard size 13 in the mucks and wear 13EEE in shoes. When I tried a pair of lacrosse in size 15 at one of the hunting shows, I needed help to get them off. It was both embarrassing and comical. Phade did me a solid by pulling the boot off after I wallowed around without success.
-
If you buy them, fold down the uppers for easy on and off. I only push up the uppers when I am wearing them, otherwise, they stay folded down to take on or off and air them out when not being worn.
-
I only wear mucks. Woody elites. I usually buy them either late or post season as they can be found for less much then (around $120 vs 199). They are plenty warm for any weather with a pair of good sock liners and socks, but my feet don't sweat too much even early season. They are waterproof for sure. And for me very comfortable/easy to remove. Great if you have a wide (EEE) foot like me. The neoprene uppers can occasionally puncture when trekking through thorns, but its easily repaired with that neoprene glue. My first pair from 5 years ago are still being used. I have 3 other pairs that I have begun to break in. Bought em because they were cheap post season. Should be good for the next 20 years or so.
