  1. I am impressed you guys can do all day sits this time of year. Its hard enough in bow when I actually see deer. By this time of the season its nearly impossible for me to do so.
  2. Italian venison sausage patties tonight. Used a bit more pork butt this year and it is even better. Delicious!
  3. Best part Grampy is that as the years have passed, my reasons for a location tend to become more and more specific and numerous. Its no longer just good access, right wind, near food or bedding. It was a very solid tip from Phade that just keeps evolving and I am fortunate that we can bounce ideas off one another now. To be clear, I am not claiming to be a great hunter, but I will continue to try to get there in a methodical fashion. lol Out of likes, but I agree with many of the other comments above.
  4. Luck, fortune, whatever you want to call it certainly plays some role. But hunters that get it done year after year, aren't just lucky. They put themselves in position with the highest odds and then capitalize when the opportunity comes. Sure anyone can get lucky at a given moment, but the test of time weeds out a few lucky events from the well prepared, IMO. I am still new the game, but if I truly believed it was only luck that makes the difference, I would not spend the time I do preparing, studying, scouting, analyzing, learning and shooting. It would all be a waste. Phade really started me on this process my first season when he asked me to list three to five reasons why I hunted a particular stand when I did. If I couldn't do that, he suggested I should reconsider whether I am hunting the right spot. He was right, and loves the analytics/strategy of hunting.
  5. 1. Quality property makes a big difference. 2. A willingness and ability to learn. 3. Analytical abilities, which requires knowledge of the game, making observations and putting together a game plan when observations are made. 4. Flat out determination. 5. Experience. 6. Capitalizing on opportunities - preparing for that moment. Simple fact, not everyone is created equal at the moment of truth. I am sure there are other factors, but these are some of the biggies. Frankly, 2-6 apply to almost anything we do and impact our level of success.
  6. Best wishes for a quick recovery and good outlook for sure.
  7. I still liked my $16 burger too TF and don't feel robbed after eating it.
  8. $95 would be very cheap for 32oz of Japanese Wagyu from the prices I saw.
  9. Not certified Kobe Biz. Could be real Japanese Wagyu, but I would bet against it. http://uproxx.com/life/kobe-wagyu-beef-food-restaurants-lie/3/
  10. Quick research suggested that Wagyu cattle are also raised in the US and the beef is sold as such, but without indicating that its not of the same quality and original Japanese Waygu. Kobe is just one area of Japan where this type of cattle is raised.
  11. It was called Wagyu and I am sure it was American based Wagyu cattle. I looked it up after Biz asked and there are only 8 restaurants in the US that sell certified Japanese Kobe Waygu at a much greater price than I would ever pay. It was a good burger but only $16.
  12. Just regular fries. I didn't even know about white cheddar. Have to ask next time. I usually substitute the orzo mac and cheese for fries there. Love that mac and cheese. No idea Biz. I assume its American. Its not a $300 burger. lol
  13. Kobe burger for lunch at Black and Blue was darn good.
  14. Having strong faith in God (which I do) does not relieve a hunter from the responsibility to take ethical and safe shots. I won't try to interpret wolc's intentions or beliefs. In the end, he killed the buck he shot at, so congrats on that. Not a shot I would want to take.
  15. I think around 90yds with my scoped ML.
  16. Next to a drive. Can't beat that for convenience. 10ft drag. Lol. Congrats. Nice buck
  17. I prefer a higher recurve grip but I hear good things about Omega longbows. The owner is a member of tradtalk and on the site regularly. Seems like a good egg. Not critical of other bowyers nor tooting his own horn too much. Hope you find the exact bow you want.
  18. Good luck Buckmaster. If you can shoot well at a target with the longbow, there is no reason you won't do the same on a deer. You looking at Omega?
