Its prohibited under 150.6 of the canal regulations. That was based on a quick search. I would still confirm with DEC.
-
I think some of the widewaters areas near Cayuga and Seneca lake are open to hunting but firearms are prohibited on the canal itself. Check with DEC.

Yep urea - that's just what I was thinking. Almost comical. I have no idea what Phade is doing with our food plots, but trust he has it under control. If they work out well, he gets all the credit. If not, it must have been the bad weather or soil. lol

"progress" has made life much more complicated, which in turn makes it harder to focus on much beyond one's immediate concerns. That said, I certainly blame all of the world's problems on dbHunter's and Phade's generation. The x-gen is still trying to wrestle power from the boomers who don't want to let it go. Thus, my generation is a bit busy at the moment.

I absolutely agree with your last sentence, although sometimes I need to remind myself to enjoy the process, not the results. Its easy to focus on results to judge progress, even though they aren't necessarily the only indicator. Competitive personality will push one to do so often. I don't doubt that you would pass on a 140" deer if you say so. I wouldn't but, then again, I haven't had the opportunity. If I had the lengthy history you do with my fair share of such bucks, perhaps my decision would change. I have passed plenty of does and young bucks, but a 140" better walk by your stand, not mine, if he doesn't want an arrow flung at him.

With those giant GSDs you have, I don't think you need another alarm system. A vicious sounding GSD does wonders to keep people away - and you have two.

I don't know much about cowboy hats, but I know this place sells them: David Trailer World and Country Mall Just sw of Rochester.

Beautiful - the mounts not the beard. I really like the Kudu.

I thought this was why under-overs were made ....

Great home prices are one of the benefits of living upstate, among others in my opinion. Then again, I don't like even traveling to NYC for work when I have to.

Thought about it but for the extra .25" its not worth buying new heads. The hypos have worked very well so far. Going traditional for at least part of this next season so it will be a new experience with much less horsepower.

Rage Hypos with an 80lb bow do aide in the dressing process.

and I thought I enjoyed your photos ....

Pull a little harder on the windpipe. It will come out too without sticking your arm way up in the cavity, or so I heard.

LOL - who needs a knife

Great stuff wooly. And I thought you said deer numbers are down in your area? What were they like before? lol

The more I thought about this, if stuck with one stand, I agree with the funnel area. You could burn out bedding if too close and it sounds like you won't have a lot of options to spread your sits around the property. Good luck.
-
Rare shot. Even to try to get it done, it takes a lot of luck timing wise.
-
Assuming you have a one stand only, never move option, I would want to be between food and bedding. As close to bedding as possible, without busting deer out on entry. Of course, you need to consider predominate wind - don't want to blow into bedding from stand or blow into predicted travel route. Cover while in the stand would also be of utmost importance to me. Lastly, you need to be sure to have good access to the stand. Again, not blowing into bedding or otherwise being detected while traveling to stand. Agree with others than you need to consider likely shot options in terms of anticipated deer travel. I would want to be on the down wind side of expected travel route by 15-20yds with a broadside shot. Not sure what prevents you from moving in season, but mobility is a huge plus.

IMO - the subject of sexual relations is best left to be discussed between parent and child. Many parents fail in this regard and perhaps that is why schools felt it necessary to educate children in this area. I don't really object to a basic health class that explains the reproductive process, but pushing beyond that to suggest some things are completely acceptable should be beyond the reach of schools. What might be acceptable to some people is not acceptable to others. This is true in heterosexual relationships also. Do I want a school teacher explaining that certain acts, fetishes, etc are ok because people like them. Nope. Has little to do with heterosexual vs. homosexual. It has everything to do with allowing a parent to parent on appropriate subject matters without interference from schools. I can't tell you how many times I hear my son tell me, "but Dad, my teacher says to do it like this, not your way." They are inclined to listen to these figures of authority. I will accept that on how to solve math problems to some extent (even if I disagree), but this is not a subject where a school agenda should interfere.
-
Simply because its now recognized as legal does not mean it is an appropriate subject to teach in schools. I suppose there should be a children's book that demonstrates the woman's right to abort a baby since its legal too. Ridiculous. No need to discuss marriage at all. Its a parent's job to do so. While I shouldn't have to, this is exactly why I pay to send my kids to a school that shares my beliefs, in addition to my public school taxes.
