  1. Only had it one year, but it seems like a great scope and the optics are excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
  2. I did think it was Bello - should have used Beelow. Thats pretty funny pygmy.
  3. I was reading some threads and I became curious as to how some of you arrived at your forum name. I was trying to figure out what sogaard stands for, as an example. Mine was bestowed on me when I played football in college. My freshman year, the starting middle linebacker called me a big moog. It doesn't mean anything, but stuck and my college buddies still call me moog. 5050 was my college number 50. No idea why I didn't leave it at moog50. So if you have an odd name, feel free to post the story behind it. Sogaard, please? BTW - my subname is to make others jealous of my vehicle, especially Phade and WNYBH.
  4. I like everything about it but the weight. Really bright pins too. Good luck with it.
  5. Looks like he was actually on the decline in terms of antler growth. One old buck that probably earned the right to die due to old age, if that's what happened. Even though I am sure you wanted to tag him, its cool to see that some may still slip through many years of being hunted. Bet you had fun chasing him.
  6. Machinist Why not get the Stoeger 3500 if you want a semi - you know they are good guns already from experience and reasonably priced. Might not be as nice as the A5, but less than 1/2 the price. I would have bought one if I didn't find the win sxp for a reasonable price.
  7. Retrieverfishin uses the same quality BCY material as bigger name makers. In fact, you can tell Mike what strings material you want to use and the color choice. All for $45. $100 is a lot to pay just for strings. Check him out on the elite site and his reviews. I have purchased at least 10 sets from him, for elites and others. In fact, his set is currently installed on my gt-500. You can also ship him the bow and he would install and tune. Not sure how much you would save after factoring in shipping.
  8. I would agree with the caveat that the public position may very well be the reason for a well paying private position.
  9. You can get a quality set of strings from retrieverfishin on the elite website for $45 shipped. I think $160 is expensive for string and tune, but if the tune was a quality one (paper and broadhead) vs. just checking timing and putting rest to spec centershot, it may be worth it if its not in your skill set.
  10. They sure do. The 2 that I know make significantly more in their second positions as lawyers. Of course, they are not supposed to use their influence from state positions to help in the private positions. I will leave it at that.
  11. Better the stand than him, which is what I would have preferred given my prior discussions with him. lol
  12. I too am curious what you guys look for. Antlers are an indication, but I think the body tells a more accurate story.
  13. Same thing can happen if I lived there. So be it. We don't own the deer, just the land.
  14. In an open field from a blind, but he was allowed there. Stop throwing salt Phade.
  15. Looking for (1) sway in back; (2) defined neck to chest; (3) hanging stomach; (4) wrinkles in the neck area; and my favorite (5) legs that appear short and stubby in front by comparison. Hard to tell by that photo, but it looks like he has some sway in the back and possibly some neck wrinkling. I bet he will be a target buck for this next season. Good luck.
  16. Post the land and take the bottom section of each stand. Leave your number on a note on the stand and tell them to call you. When they call, tell them that you leased the land with exclusive rights and will return the bottom section to them when the stand is removed. It allows you to know who it was, obtain their contact info and have the needed conversation that they can't hunt there. I would also impress all the hidden cams you have the property to monitor. Worked for me this year with a trespasser. He even called the troopers because "I stole his stand" but guess who is no longer on my property. Even the trooper warned him not to return. Sucks to be the bad guy, but unless you become the miserable jerk who enforces no trespassing rules, you won't control it. Good luck.
  17. That would look mean on the grill of a dodge - Phade or WNYBH?

    What to Buy?

First, I wouldn't put too much faith in scentblocker to trick the deer's nose. You will have to play the wind no matter what, so scentblocker would not be a top priority (but it doesn't hurt). Personally, I really like the open patterns like predator fall gray, but do wear others and sometimes different patterns top and bottom. If I were starting all over again, I would buy: (1) two sets of merino wool base layers - I have minus 33 brand (can be layered if really cold) - better than the UA stuff in my opinion; (2) a decent set of bibs (the gander outfitter line is warm); (3) light pair of pants and windproof jacket (I really like the core4element stuff on camofire.com) (4) a predator fleece (be sure you have room to layer with the windproof jacket as the fleece is not windproof); (5) lastly some decent rain gear I also have a set of asat leafy gear which is pretty reasonable and can be worn over anything early season. Don't forget, warn beanie, gloves for those cold days and good boots (i like muck because they fit me well). Good luck.
  19. We shot a .22 at my course, but the course was held at a range.
  20. Matt is in Bergen NY, just west of Rochester.
  21. I have one and exceed the 300lb limit by a bit. Still figure it will slow down the fall at worst but most products are engineered for greater weight than specified to avoid those useless lawyers. I haven't used mine yet, but would do so if hunting alone. Otherwise, someone can bring me a ldder on the way out. lol
