  1. Local Police can also enforce Misd. and Felonies that they observe out of jursidcition as well but that would be pretty stupid unless it was to defend/protect someone.
  2. You didn't get bunrt but I would have offered $250 as a fair price since it was used.
  3. State Troopers can enforce any violations, misd, or fel within the state of NY.
  4. My dad hit a big 8 last night. It jumped the bow string and he hit high in the shoulder and the arrow didn't pass all the way through. He searched for 7 hours today until his knees gave out and he's home laid up now. I can't get out until thurday. Sucks the meats wasted but maybe I can find the horns for him.
  5. Regulation of medicade so there money left over for medicare. If you ask a majority of people in Brooklyn, Bronx, uptown Manhattan between the age of 18-45 and their caring NYS Benefit cards. Start restricting that and you will have plenty of money for the elderly.
  6. Bow, gun, heck I would use an RPG if I could
  7. I got my first Rooster yesterday, I would like to thank the guys with dogs for pushing them out of the fields and down into to the woods for me unfornately I missed the Hen or I would have had and amazing double!
  8. The neck wound was was a three blade that punch just through the bottom of the hide on the left and knicked a little bit of the neck meat. Was already scabbed and healing and that most certainly is a pitbull( North american staffordshire terrier) I'm pretty sure I haven't take a picture of a deer in the last 9 years that he wasn't peeking in from the back.
  9. A little success today and a lot of excitement. Great day hunting!! I got a nice pheasant this morning and a nice big doe tonight. Lots of activity in the woods. I saw bunch of squirels, a fox, and 2 flocks of turkey . Look at the neck picture. There is a recently scabbed broad head wound. Pretty neat someones elses bad luck became my good luck!
  10. I think that eventually we will all be in that situation but I still have a few years of pretending I'm tarzan aaaaghhhhhh AAGGGGGHHHH!!!
  11. I guess you missed noodles reply that said if can't kill something from the ground you aren't much of a hunter, maybe I'm wrong but that sounds pretentious to me
  12. When I use a ground blind I kneel or shoot sitting but I'm a little taller than then average bear. I don't think its much different shooting sitting just as long as you keep your upper body the same as you would standing. It helps to keep your chair at angle as well instead of parallel to the window if applicable. I recommend a few though to make sure you are comfortable with it.
  13. You do realize Penn State university has a mounted Mt lion in East Halls Lib. that was killed in Central PA . They use to be indigenous to the region to the region not like Waterweasle's fabled horned mouse
  14. I knew my last comment would get people going. Its amazing how people that only hunt from the ground and don't utilize any other means think they are better than eveyone else. They also assume that other hunters have never been successful from the ground. They are such amazing hunters that they even feel its necessary to brag about how good they are in a thread that is about ground blind vs treestands and has nothing to do with ground hunting
  15. I'm assuming you guys that are hunting from the ground and not using blinds or stands are also not using a bow!
  16. I did the same thing with my mine when I was new to climbers and uncomfortable. Climbing tree stands use your mass as the the weight and the strap as the fulcrum and the teeth are the load. The further out you stand the increase pressure on the load/teeth. When you got to close to the tree you decreased the pressure need to sustain your weight. Regardless of what climber you use it will be increasing unstable the closer you get to the tree. I wouldn't give up on them yet, its just the learning curve. Unfortunately for you it was a painful one at that. I'm glad your ok
  17. State game land you want a climber so you can take it in and out with you. That being said a good light climber is going to cost you some $$$$$ I would love to get one of those nice light lone wolf stands but I just can't afford it so I got a cheap solid one from sportsmans guide and lug it in. Usually end up being a sweaty mess!
  18. Agreed but I was looking for less obvious pointers
  19. Now a kid gets caughting doing something wrong and the parents stick up for the kid asking why are you wasting their time over a $2.00 lure and whats wrong with you? Parents rather argue with cops then smack the heck out of their kid for doing wrong!! Save the rod, spoil the child!
  20. I like the threads that help hunters instead of starting debates that go no where i.e. Antler restrictions, food plots etc... So I thought maybe I'll start one with saftey tips that we can share with each other. 1.) Always let someone know where you are and when you are expected to return 2.) Have some basic first aid equipment 3.) Carry a knife 4.) Radio and or cell phone on your person not in your pack 5.) Unscrew or remove tree steps after the season because tree growth can weaken the metal and cause them to stamp 6.) Have an extra flashlight Go ahead lets hear some....
  21. Safety tip, Do not leave screw in steps in the tree year round because as the tree expands it weakens the metal. Its common to have them just snap if they have been left to long. My father had the experience but lucky he was holding on with both hands at the time
