  1. Sounds about right. I lost a nice 5 pt as a kid with a satelite. The shot was high but I have a feelings the razor blades didn't make it through the hide
  2. I agree every situation is different but if you made a bad shot and you couldn't find the deer I would definitely recommend checking nearby water sources and as a deer weakens it will likely take the easier route if theres no thick cover nearby. Like I said though, I don't think is always the case and there always exceptions but I wouldn't call it a old wives tale
  3. Geno C, you love being on your hands and knees? Stop reading Fifty Shades of grey in your tree stand!!!! Sorry to joke at your expense but I couldn't help myself
  4. PA the day after my 21st birthday I walked in with the filled out application and 30 mins later walked out with my concealed carry permit. It ridiculous the closer you live to the city where the likelyhood of needing a gun for self defense the harder it is to get. Criminals with illegal guns have less hastle then and honest person.
  5. I enjoyed tracking my doe from my stand until I watched her tip over 50 yards and about 4 seconds later
  6. 2nd PREDATE widow makers. It pays to know whats above your stand, blind, etc.. esp when its windy
  7. The best way to check clothing is with a black light. If it glows under a black light, It glows to a deer. A lot of camo manufactors make camo that appeals to our senses by adding brighteners that are actually terrible for hunting. one other thing to watch for is overwashing your cloths so much that they get fuzzy. That fuzz creates a color that stands out and looks unnatural to a deer
  8. Primos "the long can" Doe in estrus bleat This a post I wrote after success with using this call last year! Definitely recommend this product!!! http://www.biggamehunt.net/forum/primos-long-can-doe-estrus-bleat-1
  9. I woke up it was so windy this morning I pulled the plug and went back to sleep. I hunt in the woods and I'm afraid of widow makers when theres that many wet leaves still on the trees
  10. I started off with 100 grain thunder heads but I would practice with the satelite 100 grains because they hit the same. The satelites weren't terrible but deffinitely didn't hold up like a thunderhead
  11. My bow shoots the same between10-25 yards and only drops a little at 30. beyond that I would use a range finder but I have never taken a shot past 30 yards.
  12. I can pull up towards me because my biceps are fine other then a mild tear I had in the left that was repaired. I couldn't hold anything out at arms length due to shoulders being injured. Even with a crossbow I would have required a bipod. Sighting in the crossbow I had a friend cock it for me though because I found I was only able to get back a couple of times.
  13. Wounded anything will get dehydrated. I gut shot a doe 2 years ago found her dead next to a stream with her head in the water downhill from where I shot her. My first buck I got as a kid was a gut shot and he died in a swamp next to a moving stream. My dads Buck last year was a high lung hit that started up hill made a u turn and went down by a stream an died. Pushing swamps rabbit hunting I have found numerous dead deer that had been struck by cars and have had prolonged deaths. I don't believe thats a old wives tail
  14. Hell its amazing I could hit a 25 cent piece at 30 yards but when a deer is 10 yards away my pin looks the size of a a softball and the deer turns into the size of a squirrel.
  15. When I first moved to NY I asked them if I needed to have my shotgun plugged to limit how many shells I could carry and after 45 mins on the phone and 3 different people no one knew how many shells I could carry in a pump shotgun without a detachable mag. The next time I called them was after I got injured and I was trying to hunt with a crossbow. After speaking to several people and finally a supervisor and explaining that the modified archery doesn't help someone like me that had both shoulders repaired and can not hold anything up and his reply was "Theres no legislation for that situation, Archery ain't for everyone maybe better luck next year!" FAIL!
  16. Deer always are more spooky when its windy but it doesn't keep me out of the woods. I just pick my spots differently if the wind is really blowing in circles.
  17. A few agos a walmart in PA was selling off the ammo inventory so my uncle bought like 24 cases of 12 gauge rounds, I don't remember how many but everything thing they had left of federal bulk packs of 22's and I few thousand rounds of 9mm. He had to call and have a guy from his shop bring over one of the trucks from work just to bring it all home. He had a guy from the sporting goods section pushing a dolly with the shotguns shells and pushed the cart with the rest to the register. When he got there the cashier called for a manager and they started questioning why he was buying so much and took his info. ultimately they sold it to him. Upon hearing about the sale we went back to stock up and they had a 4 box per customer limit
  18. There is alawys the possiblity that the guy hit a huge deer and was so excited he had a heart attack and died. That wouldn't be the first time its happened and it can happen on the ground or up a tree. I wonder if anyone checked his quiver to see if there were any missing arrows?
  19. I tell you have pins in both of shoulders and I can definitely tell when its going to rain
