I never have, but back in the old country my family used to chase them in the mountains. Not many of those guys here in NY.

Definitely on the list of things I would love to do. I have done hours of research on this to see if I would be able to do it, and i was amazed how affordable it can be. I surely wouldn't mind going with a few guys from here. I suggest you look up randy newman on youtube...he offers a ton of useful info on DIY public land elk hunts.

Good luck this season! Itll be great to hear how different the deer hunting is down there.

So how do you guys store your bow? I keep it stored year round in a plano bow case, but i was wondering if there are better options out there.

If you zoom in on the first pic you can see its antlers. I think he'll be a good buck, but it depends on what you consider a good buck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Encouraging private land being opened to general hunting
ATbuckhunter replied to Doc's topic in General Hunting
When I get a property of my own, nothing will get me to open up my land for everyone to use. Why should I pay all that money and have everyone use it and abuse it? Now I will let a lot of people hunt, but majority of those will be people I know and trust. -
Will do! Thanks

I started to realize that when i was practicing as well.

Ill be sure to check out sage and temple fork rods. My issue is im on a college budget, so spending 400 bucks on just the rod is a little expensive for me right now. Funny you mention a river runs through it...its one of the reasons I became so interested in fly fishing.

This may frustrate some hunters a little..
ATbuckhunter replied to LET EM GROW's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
If I had land is let some trappers come and trap coons and coyote after deer season. As of right now I don't have time to trap then or target them specifically, but if be taking the hide of I ever was able to get one my self. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Saw one back in may, but I haven't been upstate since the last day of turkey.

Be honest and forthright with everything, wear good clothes and be sure to mention that you'd like to bow hunt with your young daughter. Maybe describe yourself and your daughter a little and what your hoping to get out of hunting there. You'll hear some no's for various reasons that are completely out of your hands so don't get discouraged. And Larry was one hundred percent right about land owners who you'd never even know own land. I got permission for the property I hunt because my father often took the bus with the landowners wife. Be sure to leave your number in case they change their mind and decide to allow you to hunt.

I already busted the top section of my fly rod testing it out...good thing I went with the one that had a great warranty Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was given the analogy of pretending I was using a hammer and locking my wrist in a 10-2 motion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So far I was doing that with my 10 wt and I think I've gotten okay with casting just using running line. It took about half an hour for me to figure out how to lay down the line smoothly. More then likely I'll be using a wf line and I'll take your advise and use 6wt line. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've heard the fight is much better. I got a fly set up for salmon and steelhead that I plan on using in October.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
