OK..It's killing me!

Goes to show you the power of acorns! Find the white oak acorns and you'll find the deer. -
I love AR's and I would agree that there should be an AR in the first 10 days of gun season. Although im only in favor for it, if its accepted by majority of NYS hunters.

Ok that's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Those grains would be more than sufficient. That doesn't mean the same weight won't shoot as good if not better than the bullets you once used. Pygmy would know more about this than me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One advantage of copper is you don't need 180gr to get the same performance out of copper. 150gr is what's suggested if you used 180gr lead. I use 180gr out of my 06 and have never had a deer run more then 30 yards, with most dropping on the spot. I don't doubt that performance on earlier cooper bullets left a lot to be desired, but now a days it's a little different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You need a county pass to hunt Otis? I thought all you needed was a parking pass Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hunting without a truck how do you transport your deer
ATbuckhunter replied to Chef's topic in Deer Hunting
I've never had a truck so I always put the deer in my trunk. I have a cross over so I just have enough room for a deer in the trunk, but I usually put the back seat down and have more than I need. One thing I always do is skin the deer first so I don't have any ticks in my car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Try joining this site as well http://www.hudsonvalleysportsman.com/index.php?action=forum. They can really help you to find some good spots close to home. I actually hunt a property very close to you in Marlboro and there are plenty of deer. If you can find some land out there you'd be in good shape.

I think its a number of factors together. 2 bad winters in a row, bad weather last season as well as a bumper crops of acorns that severely limited movement. I wouldn't be surprised to see deer take back to where it usually is this year.

Good luck out there! Loving the scenery as well.

Ya im sure it did help a lot. Good thing is that clover will improve the soil in the time that its planted.
-
Clover is a small seed so with a little moister it can germinate and sprout with in a couple days. Glad to see they are growing and the deer are using the area. These doe should bring the bucks in come the rut.
-
Im sure a piece of cardboard would work well when attached to the deer by using ratchet straps.
-
Good luck out there and keep hydrated! I couldn't imagine hunting in that kind of heat.

Happy belated bday!

I probably hunt around the 15 foot mark, But I wouldn't mind going to 20ft. I am scared of heights so I can get a little uncomfortable sometimes while climbing up or down...especially when its dark.

Good luck slick!

Always be careful trimming shoting lanes

Ouch that had to hurts! -
20 bucks i believe...may be 25 now that I think though. Worth every penny in my eyes.
-
The free harness is all I use. It can be annoying sometimes but, it works.

NFA-ADK has done Adirondack hunts like that. 5 days seems like a good enough time to do it as well.

Sounds like a great time. There are a few members on here including one at Suffolk Archers that has experience with that.
