I thought about it, but it looks like ill be swamped with school work at that time.

I've been invited to go on a Montana hunt
ATbuckhunter replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Im with rob on this one! Go on the trip...you'll regret not going. You can always get the guns another time. -
I put it in the licence holder you can get from dicks. I keep that in my hunting bag so it never gets lost, although ive been known to forget it in the car from time to time.
-
I hear they are good guns. Never heard of a 17hmr that was impressively accurate.
-
If your going to get a bow, id suggest you get it sooner than later so you get the hang of shooting it. 17 hmr and a 20 ga are good for your intended uses. In fact you could also use the 20 as a slug gun for deer.

Thats good! When the time comes, if you want i can get you clippings from my own peach trees and can get you for other fruits as well.
-
Have you thought about planting some fruit trees? Like peaches, apples or persimmon?

Finally a pic of the mythical grow! Nice bird btw.

That second buck is a really nice one!

I am also watching the olympics! In fact that's all ive watched while studying for a physics exam. Looked up just as the cyclists from the Netherlands took that nasty fall. It was amazing to watch Kosovo their debut in the olympics and win a gold on their very first appearance.

I want to say that min is between 407-420. I don't think arrow weight is a huge factor, but it can help. Stay in the 420-450 range and you'll be alright.
-
Haha ya you defiantly don't want to do that! If I was close to you, id offer to do it for you, but unfortunately Im a couple hours away from you.
-
That usually makes it harder. I've found that butchering takes maybe an hour max to get the big groups separated so the rest could be done in the house. I would do it really fast to lessen the chance of them seeing it, but I understand you not wanting to. Personally me, Id never go to a butcher because I can do it myself. I defiantly do get a few looks down here in NYC when i butcher a deer in the driveway, but that's their problem. Maybe you can quarter the deer up and put them in bags on the land you hunt, so you can do the rest inside the house.

Is there any way you could build a stand and place it in your yard? All you really need is two ladders and to put a 4x4 between them to hang the deer.

Happy Bday DP! Hope you have a great one.

If i was in the area id go just to see alshiemer speak!

I bought my lifetime on sept 30 2009 at 9 pm because the lady i was buying my licence from told me it would be cheaper if i bought it then. All dmp's are free for me and I think it'll pay for its self in another 5 or 6 years for me. 09 was my first licenced hunting year so hopefully ill have quite a few years of hunting left.

Lots of respect to Grampy! Its not often you find someone like him from what I can tell. Glad we are lucky enough to have him on the site!

Almost ( might still get ) Got In Trouble
ATbuckhunter replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
Glad you took it rob! You'll defiantly see the pleasure in getting out when the weather is a little more forgiving. It shows that Jeremy is a great guy as well! He gained a lot of respect from quite a few members today. -
Thanks for the write up wooly! Ill defiantly have to try this, this fall. Id love to see any video's you take as well.
-
Did you try this in the woods or on the edge of a field? If mainly on the edge of a field, maybe the deer would go into the field so they can see whats going on or can see if anything is tailing them. Just a thought tough.

Congrats to your son! That's awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A friend of mine is looking to lease some of his open fields for livestock in the Hudson Valley, but is unsure of how much is an appropriate amount to charge per acre. The land has easy access to the road, already partitioned using rock solid fencing, water on the property and 2 barns if any of that makes a difference. Thanks for the help.
