5wt it is then! Thank you so much for the advice guys. Ive always wanted to fly fish and going after smallies gives me a little more flexibility because I can get them between semesters
-
Thanks for the advise guys! Im leaning towards a 5 weight because its a little more delicate for trout and easier to learn with. Thanks for the advice on fly's as well.
-
What rod wt would you suggest for river smallies? Id also like to use the same setup for trout if that makes a difference. As you can probably tell Im just getting into fly fishing.

Happy Birthday!
-
This is exactly what I was planning
-
That sounds really good. Ill be sure to try that

Thought the same, until i said what the hey and tried it. Im glad I did cause it was pretty good. I defiantly prefer regular meat as of now, but I don't think ill be turning the heart sway from now on.

Any of you guys eat deer heart? Ive never done it before, but after eating the heart of the turkey I got last spring I decided to keep the heart if Im lucky enough to get a deer this season.

Glad the kids has fun! Wonder why she changed her thoughts on shooting and fishing....maybe the husband had something to do about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Happy birthday to her and hopefully many more to come!

I agree, for 20 bucks you can't go wrong. I'm actually giving rages one last season and see how they preform. If they don't preform the way I like for a second time, ill probably be going to a fixed blade BH.
-
Ive heard some bad things about them, but i'm interested to see how you guys like them. The one thing that gets me is that rage already has some what of a reputation for not deploying, I wouldn't want to risk using a knock off that can be made with lesser quality steel when its the moment of truth.
-
If i see a line of them then they can tell you which way they usually travel that path and you can use that to find if he passes through in the morning or afternoon

Enjoy your much deserved time in the woods!

Crows and vultures can handle higher lead levels with no or little adverse effect on them. Eagles and hawks tend to have the lowest lead level tolerance.

Now thats a nice buck!

I rarely still hunt, but when I do I wear a small backpack to carry basic items like rangefinders, couple snacks, TP, Knife...etc.

Well a lot of minnewaska was burned in a fire last year, so that's both good and bad. If i were you, id find some spots to scout for both and see which one you like more. Sterling is also easier to get to for you to get to so there's always that as well as sterling being bigger I believe. I hunt like 10 min away from minnewaska and can see its white face mountain from my stand. Deer pop was way down this year and the last few years its definitely been falling, but after this winter id think were in for a boost of population.

Happy Birthday phade! Hope you had a great one!

My parents never bothered with being creative...their hands were creative enough.

That's a great rifle! The sentiment alone will make it a pleasure to hunt with!
