What a great hunt and great shot! Glad you guys were able to get it done and make a memory for a life time. She'll be talking about it at school for weeks!

Don't you hunt in the Adirondacks? Where its mostly public land? I don't think some people here understand the beauty of having all this land available for us hunters. My cousins that live in countries like Germany and France can not hunt because they don't have the public lands like we do. All you need to do here is get a license and you can go out and hunt...can it be any better than that? An attack on public lands is an attack on hunters. We constantly complain about loosing access and loss of habitat, so why should we be okay with loosing public land?

Good luck to all the kids out tomorrow! Weather looks great, so lets hope the birds are cooperating for them.

I don't usually wear head masks since I hunt from a blind most of the time, but when I do run and gun Ill either use a camo under armor sleeve and pull it over my face or use a facemask i got a long time ago. I never found them comfortable to be honest with you.

I was also wondering this elmo. Go to the website stripersonline. They have some good info on this on that site.

Best of luck to you guys!

Okay quick update here. I was too impatient to go out and get a wooden dowel so I just used my cleaning rod to pop the shell out. I never use it to clean my guns, but I did put a piece of paper towel at the tip to soften the blow. It came out on the second tap and both taps were very light. Cleaned the receiver and extractor and it was actually very clean. I cycled a bunch of shells to make sure it was working properly and it cycled flawlessly every time. The shell looked like it was in good condition too. Hoping ti was just a fluke.

Oddly enough my gun is a mossberg 535. Stubby- It is a heavy shot shell.m

Oh trust me I was ready for a nap, but after spending that kind of money on guns I'm going to do everything I can to make sure they last lifetimes. Appreciate the kind words! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have Turkey? Want Quality Trail Cameras?
ATbuckhunter replied to phade's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
My properties that I hunt are waay to far from you guys to make it reasonable to come here. Either way I wish you the best of luck in finding a place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It is 100 percent a spent round. I only load one round in the chamber while practicing. I shot and realized it didn't eject when I cycled the action. Philoshop- I definitely didn't take it in a bad way, it is completely possible that I missed cleaning the chamber. I was cleaning 3 guns after my late physics 2 class so I was pretty tired. I'll be sure to clean it very well once I get it out. It is also a brass shell. I'll test it out with some dummy rounds to make sure there is no issue come my hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where do you get your trees?

Hey guys I completely forgot to post the video I took a few weeks ago. Anyone know how to upload videos through tapatalk? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
So when I was placing my ground blind for turkey season this past Monday, I took the opportunity to pattern my shotgun. On my 5th (thankfully that was the last one I needed) shot, I saw that the shell was stuck in the receiver. I closed the action again to see if that would pull it out, but no luck. I didn't have time to take it out then and still haven't had the chance to take it out. I'm thinking that I should take my cleaning rod and try to lightly tap it out that way. How would you guys do it? Also maybe you could give me some insight on why this happened. Planning on trying to get it out tonight after I get home from jiu jitsu. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I skin and cook the whole bird in an oven. I'll eat the legs like that but I'll cut the breast up and add some mayo, onions and other spices and eat the breast like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't think the birds care when you put up the blind. I put mine up yesterday, but that was only because I didn't want to bother with it when I'm out. Saw a lot of sign and tracks 60 yards from my blind which is great news to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's awesome! Had a doe that was almost completely white last season come right up next to my stand last day of archery. Landowner asked me not to shoot it, but It ended up being hit by a car a month later which really bummed me out. Seems like every couple years we have one by where I hunt.

Good caliber for bear

Well judging by the size of your arms, I think the elephants would rather take on the bullet than you lol. -
Good caliber for bear

Like others have said, that .308 will take em down every time. If I were you Id either get something heavy like a .35 or a 45-70, or Just do what philoshop said and get a gun for something else. -
Probably wont do as good as you did, but i'm all for the fun of it.

Appreciate it. Hopefully it's as challenging as that turkey shoot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
