  1. Its going to be a great day! Ill be out there helping out if anyone here comes, be sure to say hello.
  2. Keep at it! Took quite a few years for me to finally connect with a spring gobbler. I usually called in one bird every year, but I always seemed to mess it up. Called in a few real nice ones. The two things that helped me the most was practicing calling, as well as getting in the woods at least 30 min before sunrise.
  3. I believe elk are a member of the deer family though
  4. Awesome bird and quite the hunt as well! If any one on this forum deserved to get a nice bird, it was you. Hopefully your daughter has a hunt just like it.
  5. It happens! Good thing you missed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I was thinking the same. Got lucky he missed the second shot. I almost did that on Sunday with the second gobbler, but I thankfully remembered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Great bird! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I was thinking the same. He's put the most time into this season of anyone on this forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Congrats! What an awesome bird. Can't wait to hear the story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Well I went to check out the beard length and the beard measured out to 10.5 inches while the right spur measured out to 1.31" and the left measured to 1.19". Not sure whats considered a big bird, but hes pretty damn big to me and definitely my best bird yet.
  11. Im not very experienced, but if im in a blind ill stay put till 12 if the bugs are bad out. If they're not ill move around 8 and just make circles around the property stopping for 20-30 min in each spot. Moving has payed off for me, but I prefer to find a good location and sit in the blind. The bird i got yesterday came in about 45 min after fly down after It was gobbling for 40 min straight. Give a few yelps right before fly down to let the gobbler know where you are.
  12. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember hearing its a neurotoxin when inhaled as well as being deadly to fish and cats.
  13. Ticks are probably the only thing i fear in the woods. I hear permitherin is pretty bad for the environment so I doubt they'll be spreading it on deer anytime soon.
  14. Okay got a questions for you guys with infinitely more turkey experience than me. Now that I have a a nice tom down, Id like to have a bit more fun with my tactics I have a Jake decoy that i never add in fear that a tom wont like it so much, but what have your experiences been with adding male decoys with your hen decoys. Id love to have a tom come strutting in and beat the crap out of the decoy. You guys think I should add it in?
  15. I needed them to re print my lifetime license because of an error made a while ago during printing and they wouldn't even print out hunting tags. If they can sell a fishing licence, why not a hunting one?
  16. I can see where you guys would that that lol! Don't be afraid to say it next time, I would have had a nice chuckle in the blind.
  17. This area has a lot of clay so it tends to green up faster than even a few miles south. Thanks though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Shot half the beard off unfortunately, but it's the best turkey I ever got. He came in running after a hen that walked by maybe 30 seconds. He strutted once he stopped and once he got out of strut it was a perfect shot. No more than a 20 yard shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Gobbler down guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Good news is I have a gobbler responding now. Playing hard to get Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I think they may be henned up now. Last gobble I heard was at 5:51. I tried calling her in, but nothing now. She and the other two hens were not happy at all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
