Be sure to call them and ask when they do it. I don't remember when they start. I might call them my self to find out actually.

Blue Mountain sportsman center. Call them and ask the specific times they are doing it. When I went I had one on one help and in 2 (second one was just to be sure) shots I was dialed in. Ill be going up in like 2 1/2 -4 weeks to get it sighted in and place my ground blind up.

One of the things i love about the killzones is they don't have that problem. It was getting annoying yo have to constantly fix the blades after walking through heavy brush.
-
Never shot the hypodermics, but had great luck with the regular rages, rage titaniums and now the NAP Killzones. They are a mechanical head so there is a chance it will not preform as anything mechanical can fail.

That's awesome! I hear they're very reluctant to gobble.

So who's the first person you call or text when you get a deer or if you finally get the big one you've been chasing? I still hunt side by side (or facing opposite directions in a tree) with my father so he's the first to know, but the first person I always text or call is my mother. Congrats on the bird! Is that an oceola or a eastern turkey? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd say you'd be able to shoot it in short sessions. I'd say try it out and see how it feels. Definitely start out at a 35 pound draw Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Should work well on them. You don't have to dull them up though.
-
Pretty much any broadhead (expendables are better in this case) and aim for the body. There are good YouTube videos of where to aim.
-
Usually the success rate for bowhunting turkey is low as they have very good eye sight. Broadheads are the same as the ones you use for deer and you want to aim for the body of the turkey. Some people Will actually use an older and more dull broadhead because penetration is not an issue. In fact a bigger mechanical broadhead would be very beneficial to use on turkey.

When do you plan on buying it? I can bring you to my Archery club in Suffolk county and ask if you can shoot some of their bows before one of our shoots. That way you can have an idea of what you can and cant shoot. Many of them also have spare bows that they wouldnt mind selling for a good price.

I'll be sure to read up on it more. I haven't really spoken about it since first semester in college and for the last 3 years I've been taking mostly science classes. Both you and philoshop have brought up interesting points Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Now I pretty much only hunt in AR zones and I love them. I think phade brought up a good point. We are generally making the choice to pass and wait for bigger bucks with and with out AR's. I also don't like telling people what they can and can't shoot. -
You answered your own question. Yes its legal

Looking forward to hearing the stories.

Sounds like a really exciting season! Will you be hunting in the ADK's witha long bow or is that where the flintlock will be used?
-
For 100 bucks at dicks you can get some good proline neoprene waders. They'll keep you nice and warm and have boots already.

Whats your budget?

Where do you get your trees?
ATbuckhunter replied to bkln's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Bury it at least 4'. When me and my father planted our fig tree's we covered 75 percent of each branch. The reason is you expose more surface area to sprouting roots. The better the root's the better the tree. Although we didn't have 8' branches to plant. Id bury those two branches if possible. You don't have too, but it can help. -

What you'll want to do is plant it at least a few feet into the ground and prune off some of the lower branches that will not be covered with soil. You shouldn't have to worry much about the ones that are being buried as its more surface area for roots to develop. I never kept it more than a few days in water, but a week should be alright. -
Just getting into fly fishing myself. I have a 10wt setup for salmon, steelhead and stripers, and I used it for the first time on the Salmon River. Just got a 5wt and im excited to get out there for trout and smallies. What outfit did you get?

I wouldnt risk planting them now as it can be very stressful this time of year. Unless you want to start them off inside your house or heated area. It might be fine to do it now, but I personally wouldn't take the risk. But since its free, I guess go ahead and try it. Shoot me a reminder in about 2 or 3 weeks so I don't forget to record it. -

No problem. I'll be pruning them somewhere from mid march to early april based on the weather.
