All settled into the blind. I have a bird about 200 yards away ripping out a gobble every 10-20 seconds. Never heard one gobble so much. Going to give a few soft yelps so he knows where I am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That's exactly what we pay. I would be shocked if someone told me they're not paying in the 300's.

227 sounds a bit low. I payed 3 something when my father got it

What's on the agenda to improve your hunting this coming season ?
ATbuckhunter replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Shoot shoot and shoot some more. I don't feel as confident as when I was shooting more days then not, and Id like to get back to that. Might even be able to put a down payment on a place of my own so ill possibly be hunting on my own land. -
What is the point of youth turkey season?
ATbuckhunter replied to beachpeaz's topic in General Hunting
Sometimes its hard for me to believe people would want to take an opportunity away from a kid to go on a youth hunt. How bad could it hurt you? -
Didn't know he was in for surgery, but hoping for a speedy recovery!

I know someone that did it a long time ago (20+ years) when money was tight and a turkey walked through his back yard and he needed food. It worked for him then, but there are better options than a .22 mag.

Maybe they'll do an limited entry season on LI for them. From what i hear, there are quite a few of them here.

Now Im 100% No-till!!!
ATbuckhunter replied to tuckersdaddy's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Either way it's is much more beneficial to use a no till. Big for your time and gas, as well as for the flora in the dirt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Rocky point is one place i believe. That's the only place of public land where I know of that people have success on them.

Awesome! You will see an increase in your yields year after year. -
Thankfully I don't look like that when I go out. I usually only take my bow (7 years old), and a small camo back pack with some small things like a rangefinder, grunt tube, doe bleat, knife, tags and some toilet paper. You can never bring too much TP.

Many Amish believe that posing for a picture is a graven image, which is why most community's do not take pictures. They do make a distinction between posing for a picture (like for a gun or drivers licence) and having one taken of them while working. I've also heard some believe pictures steal souls or something along those lines.

I like going more low profile and using just 2 hens. I have a jake, but never set him out fearing they gobblers might not like it.

Yes, I believe its during Columbus day weekend right? It wasn't around while I was considered a "youth" -

I see no reason why we shouldn't have a youth season for both deer and turkey. They are the future of our sport, and its pure jealousy for most of the people who don't want a youth hunt. I wish I would have had a youth deer season when I was getting started. -
Thats funny! I also heard that if you call too much on the roost they wont come down till they see a hen.
-
So when do you start calling when the birds are on the roost? Had birds gobbling on the roost all around me last year, but I didnt make any calls fearing it would be too early for them.
-
Sounds good to me!
