That place was amazing. I want to go back when we have the a good amount of time to spend there. The mounts were extremly cool to see. Not everyday you stand next to a 180-220" monster. And their selection is huge, they carry everything you need

he came out first light! at around 7am

this is from a new stand, well new tree. its 50 yards from where i was last year. right where i saw a lot of the deer moving through so just about 2 weeks ago i decided to get in and move the stand and clear some lanes. wish i was in my stand this day! he stepped into my 25 yard shooting lane that when i set up this little alley walk through in this thick cover i was picturing a big buck stepping into this lane. i have this deer on cam from last year as a 2.5 8 point close to 120"... he had great mass last year and boy did he pack it on this year. this year he would have been an 11 point if not for his broken brow. but hes a beautiful buck, just shows what one year can do. The funny part is, he was the first buck to show up on cam 10-10-2012 and hes the first buck to show up on cam this year 10-4-2013!

id say 2.5 around the 90" mark

I was in PA picking up a cap for his Titan and on the way back we passed cabelas so we decided to stop in since we were never in one. That place is huge! You need hours in that store! We are going to take a trip back when we have more time to spend there but it was a good time. We were only there for not even an hour. Here's some pics to get you pumped up! Lol

Been so warm lol I went out opening day and a morn hunt the day after and didn't see anything. I can't bring myself to hunt in 70 degree + weather so I'm just waiting for things to cool down and pick up.

they said close to 300lbs... that could fall short of 300lbs by 30lbs or so, that could be close in their eyes. 250# deer are NOT rare out here on the island, especially weeks before the rut kicks off and they start to drop weight, i dont see it being a long shot.. JMO im not saying this deer is 300lbs, way to hard to judge by this pic anyway but big body deer exist and you dont have to go to canada or mid west to shoot one...

i have seen pics of some really nice bucks taken on the island inspite of the warm temps and some what slow deer movement.. a few buddies shots some decent deer... there is already a deer thread for LI deer movement in Region 1 section. feel free to check it out

since the season started i have not been so gun ho with this warm weather... i did a full day hunt opening day and a morning hunt day after. havnt been out since. im hoping for some cooler weather! my mentality right now is not to get burnt out so soon when seeing deer is very slow. having said that, you have to be in the woods to kill one!

I'd love to score a spot on shelter island... Some monsters out there. I have some buddies who hunt there and I have seen some of the deer taken over there.

i bought a pair of new boots like 3 weeks ago and it had the rubber smell. i wore them a few times in the field and sprayed them with scent blocker a few times the smell goes away with time. im sure there a few things you could do to get rid of that smell... that strong smell wont last forever

was out this morning didnt see one deer again lol. feels good to be out tho got a text with a pic last night from a buddy, guy he knows shot a nice 130 class 8 point on LI yesterday. nice deer..
