Ok but not my style . Waiting to go see Dancing with the Stars on tour .
  4. Guys it’s part of the Safe Act, no,internet sales . Only been that way for five years now . Some like above will do,it now though, since the background requirement for ammo checks has proved unworkable .
  5. Battery Junction , for all your battery and lighting needs..... this is from the faq, but the site has a ton more info. https://www.batteryjunction.com/battery-chemistry-guide4.html
  6. Home , we keep fresh water, food , led lanterns, tons of flashlight and batteries , traps , plywood, 2x4s . Gas fireplace works in,power outage . To much to list now really . i have a day pack that goes back and forth to work or when I travel much more then 50 miles from home . Change of clothes , warm hat, tool pouch ( leatherman, back up flashlight and batts. Extra knife, roll of tape and zip ties ) First aid pouch , basic stuff 4x4, steri strips, tourniquet, quik clot , otc meds. Some RX meds. Life Straw. Charging cords and external battery. Two spare mags. $500 cash important papers scanned onto thumb drive . Some recent uses . Hunting with my daughter , she has a head ache, gave her otc pain meds. , when she got “scoped” shooting on our range , cleaned and dressed the wound . Leaving a cruise ship , zipper on luggage broke. Used Leatherman to make holes on each side of zipper, and zip ties to keep bag closed . Some will poke fun, yet they always turn to me for help .....
  7. But it would match my gun , it’s all about accessories!
  8. 8 1/2 years old ? Mrs Nomad would maybe move it to the front of the shelf , so it gets used before the 10 year mark .

  10. As we say on the FD, worry when they’re not breaking your stones.....
  11. Some good info here. Note they won’t know who did not recert till they have processed all of them, and the NYSP will except late ones through 2,018. https://troopers.ny.gov/FAQs/Firearms/Recertification/

The full article can not be obtained online, I do have the print copy here at home somewhere though, pretty interesting . And yes I read Scientific American. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/from-workouts-and-weight-loss-to-the-perils-of-traveling-far-out-in-space/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-exercise-paradox/
  13. NYS process sucks, I renew for two, other states and it’s a breeze for the , most part. NYS state , one has to list the gun as pistol, revolver or single shot. I own a derringer, so none of the above ..... I,put it down as single shot . Some guns I had no idea of the “model “so I just made it up , went through no problem. The county had one of my ser. Numbers wrong , no process for that either , it excepted my incorrect one and co registered on wife’s as correct . its a joke they don’t check anything .

Guy I work with did “Dr Matt’s” loose 40 pounds in 40 Days . He lost 50, and about one year later he’s kept it off . It would take a very long post to explain it but it worked, although you’ll have to make a dietary change pretty much forever to maintain, like most diets I guess . Its quite pricey in the four figures, but it seems like you can negotiate the price .
  16. Daughter killing first deer. Same one driving a drainage ditch and pushing a buck right to me , which I shot as it was on an all out run. First time goose hunting with some hardcore water fowlers, Sept hunt tons of decoys , waving flags, calls and so on . Shot my first ever goose, and it was double banded , which I guess was a big deal .
  17. The short billy clubs were made in foundry , a cast into sand type molds . They were for clubbing “fish “. For the record I turn 59 in March although I can pass for 57 all day long . I told my wife I got the body of a 19 year old, she said give it back you’re getting it all wrinkled .......
  18. 1,970’s in Webster NY we shot bows in gym class and made billy clubs in shop class .
  19. Thanks I’ll read this later seems interesting. Myself i want meat every year, which has occurred each year since the ‘80’s, with two, years I thought that would not occur and it freaked me out way more then not getting a “good” buck .
  20. Part of the problem with recruiting youth hunters is today’s demand on their time . In my high school football days practice was after school games on Sat. Opening day was Monday , you could tell the coach you wouldn’t be there because it was opening day, chances are he wouldn’t be there either ....it was no big deal. Today you’d be benched for missing practice . My daughters hardest part about taking the hunter safety class was finding 3 nights in a row she could attend one . Once kids get their license it doesn’t matter if they hunt right away , an opportunity may arise down the road and then they can go and be hooked for life . I got my lic. In high school hunted a bit then stopped, got a job where it seemed like everyone hunted, I was asked to,go and because I had a lic. Previously I could go , then I was hooked for, life .

Nice find at Wegmans , grabbed one at lunch and 3 more on way home .
  22. I retire from the FD in May, have no issue paying those costs. Hell I’ll carry your bags, can’t really balance them on my head though . Im,pretty observant and follow orders .
  23. 1,988 I canoed the North branch of the Big Salmon river from Quite Lake to the Yukon river , took the Yukon river to some small “town” where we were picked up. Fishing was good . River was boring , flat no rapids, rich in history though and some neat old mining camps . Robin I’ve done the Missinaibi river in Ontario , great trip tons of rapids ,remote , best fishing I’ve ver had . We just canoed it ourselves not with any group . http://frontierbushcraft.com/expeditions/missinaibi-river-canoe/
  24. I can’t imagine target shooting without a back stop or at the minimum a downward trajectory and a clear sight path down range , and that I’m iffy on . I used to think I got over charged by the local I had plow up a berm on our land for my backstop, this puts it in perspective.
