  1. Just think of those points were, Rage’s .....
  2. Most guy just want a whack at the big bucks . It was take a Doe first when I did it . I feel few follow that . Oh and welcome to the forums , stick around many great folks here .
  3. Lake road Webster across from the real Webster Park. Friend took this pic . Sad way to go .
  4. Thanks, oliveript ! My buddy lost some great hunting when the town hunt started there, his land boarders it . The town hunters really messed things up , no thought to wind or where the deer bed and move . The dog was treated at a Vet. according to the FB post , even gave the vets name . If I were a betting man I'd bet, True !
  5. My experience has been they ask when one is buying " pistol " ammo . Its almost a store by store clerk by clerk basis , with much confusion as to what is what .
  6. You would not believe some of the things that happen yet never make the " news". . Although this sort of thing is right up,their alley , they like to stir the pot generally on things like this .
  7. I go in and up most times as it's starting to get light . Most of my stands I get to walking field edges and I prefer not to blow them all out of the fields . If I can glass the fields as I move its easy to change routes or stand locations if deer are in them .
  8. So to be clear oliveript , it was Webster Park ? Is Webster park now in the Town hunt ? Or was it in Town green space that is used in the town hunt , this includes Gosnell Big Field , Whitting rd and Finn Park a park owned by the town but not " Webster Park " a much larger county owned park in Webster . When I was in the town hunt , Webster Park was never in the program . Ps The DEC officer I texted must have a new cell number.... The other cops are " checking " which basically means they're texting other cops ..... Since they don't work for Webster . Thatguy ,you can hunt in Webster just like any other place. 150 from a house bow , 500 for gun , on land you have permission . I've killed many by bow and gun on Hard Rd, Lake RD . Many do very well here . Just got this text, just shows how not all cops / dec know what each is handling .
  9. No, interest in this hot weather , may go Sunday AM mostly to,shoot daughters new 7mm 08. And clear some paths after a sit . I think I may have 9 days off starting the 15th .
  10. Store policy , like me getting proofed at 58 . Clerk may think it's a law , either way their call .
  11. Live in Webster did the town bow hunt years ago ( I got the first kill !) Hunt still goes on in a few locations in Webster on town land. It would be easy to say “Webster park” which is a county park in Webster , when you mean the other town park land. I would doubt a guy in the program would do this , we’re screened and it would be a big risk . Just because the the hunt doesn’t take place in Webster park, doesn’t mean poachers aren’t in there either . Ill text some cops friends . texts out to two cops , one who patrols county parks on horse and a dec cop as well. On closer look that floor looks like our vets floor on 250 in Webster , not sure if they would say anything ....
  12. It was a corner room the two windows made for two differant fields of fire , also shooting out of just one makes it easier for a counter sniper to. key on you . Yes a lot of guns , but the number of and rate of fire of the rounds will heat up a gun really fast so a few would allow for swapping out guns when over heated , as well as having a few at both windows . He did have way more then needed though . i heard a guy explain how a rifle gives off two sounds and at a sustained high rate of fire those sounds get over lapped to,those at distance . I know I'll mess up trying to explain it though . Ok,here goes . The sharp " crack" sound is the sub sonic sound of the bullet coming towards you, its past you by the time you hear it though . The " boom" is the muzzle brake sound of the bullet leaving the barrel . At distance and a sustained rate of fire the sounds will over lap.

    Subaru ?

It’s good camo, few would suspect an armed red neck inside . The element of surprise and all .
  14. The only bump stock equiped gun I've fired myself was an AK 47 , little bit of a learning curve at first . Good for shooting into a large crowd I guess but aimed fire at close range not so much . Btw you can bump fire ANY semi auto , no bump stock needed, although one does make it easier .

    Subaru ?

Thanks for all the input ! Bought this today pick it up Sat . Eye site tech .Adaptive cruise , lane sway., bind spot warning ,adaptive braking ,power lift gate . Went with the zero percent financing . Having a not a hippy bumper sticker made . This is a internet pic . Our is the same though .
  16. I'm always in , although during the season will limit attendance over all . Sure I'll drive, just bought an Outback couple hours ago though .
  17. Here's a nicely possed buck prior to gutting . My nephew was in Texas on business so he went to one of them ranches to pop a buck on some free time .

    Magnus

Yep,for the last 25 years or so . Two blade cut on contact ,. I Feel, they hardly feel the arrow pass through , had a few jump or just lift their head up , then fall over a few yards from poi . I had one enter back ribs come out front rib cage low and go through the leg bone . That's a lot of bone cutting .... Last yew years Stingers with bleeders. Any head through both lungs will kill the deer. These fly great , I feel they feel the hit much less, Mangus will resharpen ( replace ) them for free . That's not to,bad .
  19. Sure but we pick,by seniority , it was only the last few years I could pick opening day of gun .
  20. For the last 27 years I've had to pick my time off in Nov for the following year . Now I only work 15-16 days a month so that helps . But generally I pick as close to Nov 4 - 13 for one trick and often last week or so Oct to .
  21. I draw on just about every deer that comes through, it's good pratice . It's rare to get busted . All I know is every year more guys at work get their first bow and kill deer . Perhaps it's because we have lots of time off , and going to work is like a two month hunting camp in the Fall, so they learn a lot from others ? But I would think and gun hunters especially shotgun hunters ( closer range ) know when to and not to move , it's not like that's exclusive to bow .
  22. I killed a deer with a bow my first year bow hunting in 1,989 and most years since , and frankly the years I didn't I was holding out for a big buck that never showed . It's not that hard . Id say the portable tree stand is by far a greater advantage then a crossbow .
  23. yep,I'm all for it , two bad shoulders and I'd like to stay in the woods hunting . Hard to believe guys think that today's compounds have some large learning curve anymore . Like I said in other threads , one guy I work with got his first compound this year , his buddy went through it and give him a lesson ,Golf ball sized groups at 30 yards first night shooting . Another guy joined a dozen or so others from work in a 3D league , never shot a bow once before , started the league using another guys bow . He WON the league that year . The only time he shot was league night , zero practice . I can't count the number of guys on the job who kill deer their first year with a bow . Id like to keep using a compound , seems easier to carry and shoot out of a stand , but old age is taking its toll . Hasnt our neighbor Ohio had it for over 30 years ? Did the sky fall there ? No . Did gun hunting there start to suck no. Season length change ? No
  24. Yes and no . Not my field but I've been staged a number of times for a gunman hold up in a house , not active shooter . First they set up a perimeter then a secondary one, while swat is called in ( often guys from home ) who, have to go,get the command and armored vehicles the report to scene . That takes time . One would hope with an active shooter some of the first on scene would be headed up to the floor and forcing entry . I've forced entry for the cops tons of times, nobody was shooting , just the threat of weapons . If they're shooting perhaps we should move even faster . i was in one large scale active shooter drill , hundreds of cops , FFs ,ems , roll players ( victims ) . I mean swat , hellocopters everything you can think of . It was long drawn out with changing information causing Confusion and chaos .
  25. Well you gotta use what you like . I'm more and more into ladders , this one is 17 to rail , which I removed the seat folds up the platform large . Yesterday morning I saw 13 deer all within 50 yards , some really close never got busted , a coyote hung out for 2-3 minutes in easy bow range . edit , one buck saw me move as I was watching a doe behind the stand and did not see the buck .
