Some good hunts today it seems ! Ill be out in the AM, then not till Tuesday if needed .

LASIK ( Dr robbins) was one of the best things I had done . You will need readers more and more as years go by , that can be a pain . To read a text on stand , pull out phone, pull out readers , try to get them on with mask in place . Bow pins and gun sights are all in the blurry range as well . Id do it all again , but I have to carry readers everywhere I go , for the most part .

Single arrow practice is the best ! No chance to walk it in , just like hunting . I always shoot a FP before I climb down , pick out a stick, and shoot . Good to,shoot from the actual stand I hunt out of , and estimate the distance correctly ,there’s zero estimating in my yard .

There’s a nice buck along 490 West around Victor , just put your hazards on ,you’ll be fine .

Back home, things shut right down . Lots of dead deer along the roads today too . Plan was for sat morning , neighbor has tomorrow off, I may switch to that idk . My hunting partner,well he hunts his land and i ours, generally start to hunt together around now, but his son is in the hospital pretty serious so there’s that too . Funny how hunting can turn insignificant in an instant.

Getting crazy ! First light a doe ran by me , my neighbor had two young bucks under his stand pic of one below . Then I heard blowing and a young buck chased a doe behind me . Then some crashing sounds in center of woods . I actually stood up !

Weather says 10-12 mph , it’s rocking on rolling outside my window right now at least double that , I’d bag it but I’ll take neighbor as his days to hunt are limited .

Guess not to many shoot through the season ? Ive laid off any workout that hurts my shoulders , done a lot of pt , got rid of my 30 and 40 yard pins since I never shoot much past 20 ,and they all blur with my old eyes . Three at 20, 25,30 yards,no pain steady hold , but sitting in a tree for hours will be the test .

Neighbor who I’m mentoring called , he’s off the next two days ,so I guess I gotta get up at 5 tomorrow. The struggle is real .

That’s a valid point, I guess I should bring a postage scale when we shoot it Sunday . My issue is three sources three different answers .

So I have a relative that built an AR pistol it’s featureless btw , and its listed on their permit , but I got to wondering it’s legality. So today at a gun shop that only sells pistols , ARs, AR pistols ,combat shotguns etc and it’s staff is largely retired Leo’s , I asked about it . They said it’s ok but mag needs to be pinned . Then I called the NYSP gun hotline thing and they said it’s illegal and a felony, they said the county messed up by putting it on the permit , and pinning the mag doesn’t matter as the law says capable to except a detached mag , and before pinning it was capable ! wtf i said I have half a dozen pistols that except detachable mags, they’re all featureless how is his any different ? Pause …we’ll that’s an assault pistol . How ? It just is … Next up the deputy nextdoor , a real gun guy too . He asked any features? Nope . Arm brace ? Yep. Pistol length barrel ? Yep. On his permit ? Yep. Then he’s fine ,this county considers that a pistol . ha ha ha . Way to go NYS !

Man tough choice ! Some go with the team that eliminated yours , which would be the Phillies, I can’t do that( even though the Cards sucked that series ) I’m not a Yankee fan, and neutral on the Astro’s ,then the Yankee fans booed Ted Cruz so the Astro’s it is !

My buddy burned up a bit of his accutips sighting in pre season ,he had a broken scope mount he didn’t realize was the cause of his poor grouping . Again no,problem ,I don’t need much of a reason to visit a gun shop !

Otto, sorry no BrI slugs, they did have Winchester xp copper impact which I passed on . They had slugs and sabots in 12 and 20 ,but the variety is limited ,plus it’s all behind a counter and my old eyes can’t read it at distance, they did though check their “ secrete “stash for,me as well . I did pick,up some 20ga Ted Nugent sabots, just for the hell of it and a few boxes of 9mm jhp .

Something soft, they pulled a molar yesterday. The Dentist was a female , is that even legal ? Tooth broke took her a half and hour of screwing around to get it out . Plus side she bow hunts ,and has a cabin built out of logs felled and hewned from the property.

I’ve been going to go there anyways . They often have a limit ,I’m not sure of the number . My buddy has been looking for accutips for two years , (20ga) . This is a good example for guys , he had “ enough “ till he went to shoot, and the grouping was erratic, so he shot more, still erratic. Then he found a broken scope mount , new mount, more sighting in and now he has some but not enough .

I’m thinking of hitting my spot tomorrow, I’ll check, but looking for specific ammo this close to season ,can be problematic. Last time they had a bunch of slugs/ sabots, but I didn’t give them much of a look . Accu tips haven’t been made in two years, since Federal bought Remingtons ammo Biz . IF they have them how many boxes ? We can meet at my hunting spot , right off 5/20 or up at the thurway and 96 ,if that works . If they have any ….

What’s the water source ? My friend bought land maybe 8 years back, woods, goldenrod ,AG next to it . Someone prior cut a plastic blue barrel length wise, and buried it even with the ground , he’s never cleaned it, added water nothing, it looks like brownish green swamp water . Deer stop at it all the time to drink, last year I watched one young buck put his foot in it and slip lol . As far as only five acres, if the deer cross it, or are there for some other reason, recovery rights would be my main concern.

I’m sure even dealers will all give a different answer to this , mass confusion out there . I’d do it by word of mouth to someone I know ,or once removed and not worry one bit .
