I just emailed a Econ officer i know these questions. I have not heard the disable your bow part since my bow class in the '80's, thought it went away,we'll see. I put my release over the strings ,this keeps it with the bow but also disables it I guess .

Phade I not only get your "drift" i enjoy your posts a lot, which is why i did not "quote" you in my explanation. Just wanted to point out its all trauma and how animals die, which there seemed to be some confusion on . Like I said earlier I had to :"track" 2 or 3 out of my last 15 or so bow kills. I have no idea what DRT is, after googling it ,I think it may mean dead right there. If so yes most of my bow killed deer go less then 30 yards, some never took a step, 2 went back to feeding. That might not be the norm, but a brief run of a few steps then stopping has been once I stopped using pencil points and chisle points. The ones that run have been when I hit heavy bone and they feel the hit. I gotta drift on over to the gym now.....

BTW an arrow and bullet both cause a traumatic injury and an animal or human for that matter die when one thing happens oxygenated blood no longer reaches the brain. No matter if its Grandpa's heart attack where the pump stops sending it or steve puts an RPG through a deers heart and it stops pumping. An arrow or bullet hits an artery and that oxygenated blood does not reach the brain along with a volume loss causing a drop in BP as well. All trauma. A arrow or bullet through both lungs will cause massive bleeding which leads to a drop in BP and the blood not reaching the brain, along with the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen to cease mean no more oxygen entering the blood stream. See why a double lunger is the goal ? That deer is dead with in about 15 seconds, The problem is when he runs off like a horse out of the gate. Now a bullet can destroy parts of the skelectory system,or cns causing the deer to "drop" and or parts of it to destroy lungs ect like sharpnel does, but it still takes blood loss to cause blood flow to brain to stop. Happy tracking.

The buck has a split right brow too. The camera looks to be the Micra Red Enhanced $99, which is why I picked it up, I ilke it way better them my Moultrie . The flying buck shot was into the sun. Here's another shot from that camera in the same spot !

Put a pole through that buck and he could be on a merry-go-round !

.Since I switched to cut on contacts many years back my blood trailing days pretty much ended during bow season. Most went less then 30 yards, some went back to feeding, all but two dropped in sight (out of 15 or so). Most that ran did a couple steps, stopped looked around made a final crashing run. They just don't feel the hit like a pencil or chisle point,it seems to me .

Ya I got a ton of those sleeping pics. 2 bucks 2 differant nights, each time one moved another pic. those guys toss and turn more then the Mrs....... Ok today was 40 and no wind nice morning hunt. Had one bedded under my stand, jumped up ran a couple steps, sounded like a horse ,at least did not run crashing throught the woods snorting. Other then that only saw 2 doe and one raccoon . Go in on nights tomorrow, then doing the "leaf" thing Sunday with the Mrs. going to the Jump Off and Naples. Will go out sometime next week if its not to warm.

As for the "can" if you turn it over and blow in the hole,Ya I said it, you can make the sound longer and louder if you wish .
-
I don't know off hand the model.I'll check, here's 2 sleeping ones, the second is behind and to the left of the leaves, one can kind of see his rack, but its hard in this one. Having trouble finding right pic...

Ok hitting my best stand tonight for the first time,if nothing else I'm pulling a camera thats been there untouched for over a month. If the deer movement in my yard today is any indication of deer movement over all it should be good hunting, they'er all over my track for the last 2 hours . Going to practice in the yard a little later, who knows may not have to drive to my hunting spot after all...

A friend just came back a few things he said. 50 deer per square mile, hunters stay half price in some Bed and Breakfests, free ferry rides back and forth to the mainland. Hum I've hunted out of tents in deep snow, but a B and B and dining on lobster at night has a certin appeal as I age .

If I had to guess I'd say The Truth2 is from Monroe County

Nice job! One of my goals is to take one from the ground .

How does one mark a pic. like that ? Thanks

I have 7 that I can use right now. I do whats correct for the wind, which I'm seeing stuff out of or have not been in lately.Failing that I ask my wife to pick," the slope stand ,or inside corner?". If she says inside corner,I say " slope stand it is".

Love seeing the pics. I hope to pull a card tue. after a month.

Good point Doc. I have a friend who fell while trimming from his stand. He broke his femur, he called 911. I'm amazed that they found the entrance to his camp as I often have trouble, let alone him out in the woods. Gullick rd. You might have heard of it.

Thats a good idea ! I hope I can contribute this year....Almost always I get pass throughs. but when I don't like 2 years ago, large buck rear 1/4ing,is I take the broken arrow and place it next to a whole arrow. This helps me see how much arrow is in him and/or how far and what it may have hit.

Oh and each year I try to buy the most obnoxious swim trunks. Next year Speedos !!

Thing is my plug was in. This is at a beach in front of the cottage we rent not a ramp. The transom is very low and the well has 3 holes for linkage ect. My guess is that I pullled it up to far on the beach that night putting the transom even lower waves came into well got in holes boat tipped and filled more. Anyway quite a shock to find ,no marina on this lake we were on our own. 1/4 inch more lower and we could not bail as we would have had to bail the whole lake. Funny part was there was a Smallmouth swimming in the boat. To make it even more fun the only bucket I found had a big crack in it . I trailer my boat and the plug and keys are put on the seat when I get home, I put the plug in and turn the motor over before I even hook up. Not saying I could not mess up though .
