Good luck hunting and good luck to your sil. When someone with a gun says,"your asking for trouble." That comes real close to menacing or harrassment, me I'd be making a phone call to a friend to at least have him interviewed and get a paper trail started .

They finished the corn around me, less then 100 acres to go in other spots. They pushed out a few small bucks and one wide 8pt,he we could not get a shot at.... getting some rest today and running errons getting things done that need to get done. Still off to next fri. so I'll hit it hard.Going to shoot my ML on my range Mon. Now that all the corn is down may sit with that on the fields. Thought it was going to be 20 degrees all day today, got up its 34 ? Time to wash the hunting clothes wipe down the gun and get ready for round 337it seems

Welcome from Webster neighbor. You're off to a good start.

Kind of like taking the batteries out of your smoke detectors once in a while, the house won't catch fire today...

I have been after this guy since bow saw him the last Thur. of bow for an 1 1/2 hours opening day and setting up on him that Sunday jumped him out of his bed... This is a pic taking while cutting corn as he runs to neighboring land...this past wed. I had him pinned to one small area, now the corn is down where he hid and he's on the run... Good luck guys.

Guys who say they don't shoot a few minutes before or after legal light are like Bigfoot,I read about them on the internet, but I've never seen one in the woods.

He's nice ,tall. Great shot and re-grouping after misfire !

You have reached the "Sportsman Stage" in the 5 stages of a hunter. Enjoy it you've earned it.

Great bucks, nice going !

The average age of a hunter in NY is around 48 , so I guess you'd not find to many young guys caught as there just are not many of them to start with. The average age of the 7 caught was 46.7.....

Good luck WNY.

Sorry kinda let this go by the wayside... Bow was weird, few does a good number of shooter bucks, none I could connect on. Now last Thur, of bow I saw a slob of a buck in a small 14 acre corn field. Opening day afternoon there he was again for over an hour with a doe, never came closer then 150 plus yards. Sunday afternoon I went to set up on him and jumped him from his bed in a hedgerow,15 feet away...he ran out otherside right into corn. Opening day I set my daughter up in that hedgerow too. first light nice buck,he looks hard at her (on ground) she fires he runs or the other way around, clean miss. I saw nothing I wanted to put a tag on. Sat all day today,3 differant stands, got down out of 2nd stand at 3:00 to move to last stand, taking a wizz I hear a snap, a doe is coming she runs int green field stops broadside.Bang. Meat. Gutted her went to last stand saw zippo. Farmer sends me pic of a 20 inche wide slob he just pushed out of corn while cutting itnright behind my spot...He got with in 40 yards of it 2x's in corn. Brought doe to Uncle Charlie for processing. " Larry where the heck you been?" Weird season. Holy crap A LOT of BIG bucks there and a table of big racks. He said he's getting killed with big bodied and racked bucks, never had a year like this . I hope to add to that.

There is Genny 12 Horse on the end table next to me right now....

Me too. I go by Lonehunter on some forums. A handgun is always on you, while gutting, dragging and so forth, its never set down or unloaded . Heck one is in my pocket sitting here with wife and kids watching NCIS .

I'd guess your not alone. Myself 35 years of killing deer I honestly can't remember, getting shakey or nervous shooting at one.I've missed and made no so great shots at times ,been busted, but I've always been calm . Now opening day my oldest daughter did. She's home from grad school in time for O.D. this year a first. I set up a folding chair in a grassy hedgerow had her sit there and I went 150 yards or so further down. Oh IDK a few minutes after 7 BOOM followed by a phone call from her " I shot at a deer" ! OK I'll be down. Watching a low half knocked down corn field she heard something coming,so she flicked off safety and then there it was a nice buck 30 yards broadside... in a dirt area . However her gun was not up on her shoulder but across the chair arms. He turned front quartering to her and stared hard . she knew what was up I guess. Its unclear if he ran and she fired or she fired and it ran. What is clear is she was shaking and super excited and had a hard time remembering too much about it. She did know where he stould (no blood or hair) where he ran through hedgerow (again nothing) and several rows of corn checked for 50 yards each way nothing. Then my 2 hunting buddies started calling me after hearing the shot, " was that you or your daughter"? Kinda funny as by that time most OD's I'm filling out a tag, this year she almost did .

oh ya,I've been on both sides, set up on stand and trucks come out into field guys line up facing you.... um hello I'm sitting in the middle of your drive ! We never drove the first few days of the season ,others sure did though . I hunt a large farm, speard out over miles in a patchwork type fashion, "my" block is only hunted by me and a couple friends, no drives, walking around and so on. Sunday some guys pushed a near by spot, 12 deer ran our way, then later 4 more does .I LIKE that, but it used to happen daily . Oh well on stand all day tomorrow,no others around and I doubt any drives around me, we'll see. JFB I feel your pain heres what I see. I have idk 50 -60 acres of woods and thick cover surounded by 100's and 100's of acres of crop fields. In Bow its just me see plenty of deer. In gun as I said no walking around and so on, slip in slip out like bow. BUT its 4 guys, 4x's as many leaving scent, making noise climbing in and out of stands, maybe some talking,a shot here and there, then any deer that wander off get a lot more pressure . Movement still drops off greatly compaired to bow . Even if nobody drove, there is now guys in every piece of woods/cover, many not as carefull with wind and scent control. Use these guys to your advantage as much as possible I guess .

This bowhunter loved 'em, we killed a lot of deer years back on farm land drives. We knew where they came out and where they ran to. Thats where you set up,sometimes more then half a mile away from where they bust out. I had spots I could put your feet and the deer would run right to you. Now its all managed land and no driving allowed, see fewer deer it seems. Before every piece was pushed every day and twice on Sunday.Deer were running everywhere anytime of the day all season. More then once I'd see guys set up for a drive and think,"but there not posted where they should be", I'd drive around the block back door them, and drop a deer or two off their drive, that was great fun,I miss it. Nothing like the deer running out behind their watchers run a big field cross a hedgerow I'm in, drop one and see them stand in a group stairing over .

passed small bucks, daughter missed a nice one ,first shot at a deer. Watched a monster for an hour in a low corn field with a doe, watched him mount her etc. 2nd time I've seen him there, set up on him yesterday afternoon... busted him out of his bed in a hedgerow on walk in 15 feet away ran out other side into corn, crap. Bedded 200 yards from farmers working on drainage tiles all day . Trouble with my job is TONS of hunters,so lots of phone pics and stories of big bucks, seems like a banner year. One guys camp an 11,9, and 6 8pts ! heard of 2 butchers not taking any more deer for now, stacked high and deep .
-
I've hunted with a ton of guys over the years, and watched plenty more. I have yet to see ONE get down or walk out at the end of legal time . For all practical purposes 99% are already doing 1/2 before and after, the other 1 % are doing 55 in the left lane, its the law darn it !

Good luck, have FUN, stay safe. Hum mine go in a Buick... would that pic be ok ? My daugher just home from grad school is in line at Dicks Webster for her tag, nothing like last minute !

My wife says the whole house is my man cave lol. My real one is in the basement 7 x 10 an old office of sorts by the last owner. Nice desk along one wall and part way up another, built in floor to ceiling shelves about a foot deep 5 foot long. It has worked well, gun safe all my hunting clothes, bottle of Bushmill.... 30 years of Playboys ! I've started to take over the large finished room as both kids are at school most of the year. My Mullie is on the wall down their and a bear rug so far. Hey she's got the kitchen and washroom what more does she need ?
