  1. Been buying from Beikirchs for well over 20 years. One guy on my crew bought a glock w/ 3 high cap mags and night sites yesterday under glocks first responder program. hats off to glock as well for this program . Beikirchs has the best prices and workers, and if you wear a uniform to work they really work with you on prices. thanks !
  2. A happy ending ! But really what will the cost be a few hundred bucks and what he loses a license that he never buys anyways ? Most likely he has been doing this for years and still will. Untill the fines are enough to discourage these things, it continues for most .Sadly. You did the right thing and it must have felt good .
  3. If I only knew. my little island of hardwoods and thick stuff is now surrounded by plowed up crop fields of mud,the 1 cut corn field that is unplowed is on the edge of thicker then peanut butter cover. Moving from cover to the field can be one step for them, hard to set up on trails or staging areas in heavy brush that takes both hands to push through . Nothing has even stuck its nose out in daylight . gotta be in it to win it I guess.
  4. That sucks ! I also snowblow 2 of my neighbors if we get heavy snow and I'm home during the day. I used to do a 3rd, but one day I got her dog's lead caught in my auger and sheared both pins ,took awhile to get it free and replace the pins, then I went to the store and bought her a new dog lead . I told her what happend and not even a thanks....
  5. wow never hunted so much this late, not seeing much.Read a lot about needing to change late season tactics, after 24 years on same spot wish I knew what to change to... I hunt an island, hardwoods and brush, surounded by 100's of acres of crops. Now crops all gone, most fields turned to deep mud furrows. Nothing out in or crossing those, nothing moving in the "island". I believe they move a bit to where there is food, and near the houses along the roads. Most houses have a couple acres with some brush and or pines that I know a lot of deer hang out in during gun season . Reminds me of Ed a guy on the job years ago, he was avery good hunter, he always said joking I think... "Once gun starts ya gotta hunt behind the houses"
  6. Hum I got a little 14 acre field of cut corn with plenty of corn still on the ground, hidden along my thick brush and hardwoods, 1,000 feet from any road, and not one deer with stick his nose out into it in daylight right now. Good luck with that little piece of plastic.
  7. Crazy ,people doing what they want to do in the woods .This whole freedom thing needs to be rethought.
  8. Best thing I did was build my own range on our land in Canandaigua, hired a local to build a berm, dragged in a picnic table . Blast away ! Try for at least 2x a month .
  9. Awhile back on rt 104 near the windmill ( fast eddie knows) a monster buck running hard my buddy brakes the guy next to him brakes, the buck runs across the easy bound lanes jumps the guard rail, right in to P/U doing expressway speeds. The buck goes up 3 times the height of the P/U somersaulting 3 times or more, lands and its still alive ! rear legs not working, crawles off road p/u truck keeps going parts flying...
  10. I miss driving a rear wheel drive V8,with no seat belts 80 mph,on the expressway with one hand on a can of beer and the other on a hot blonde. I would say I miss my hair, but I dig shaving the head . I miss Jimi Hendrix, Cream and the Allman Brothers. I miss people having a sense of humor. I miss my Dad .
  11. Bump stock is my guess, fully legal, machine gun rate of fire. A guy on my crew has one on his AK 47, each time he shoots it on my range the phone calls start ... Plenty of youtube videos if you want to see one in action. Ya its hard to hit anything, and you burn a lot of ammo, but he uses his side job money for toys, its play money and its fun, i use his ammo !
  12. Whirled peas,oh I'm sorry its world peace.... In fact nothing like most years, like others I buy what i need when I need or want it . Now if only they'd move Christmas to prior to hunting season , then I'd have a list !
  13. Might find it on line, I got it years ago out west, where the book stores have a "Western" section. One of my all time fav movies and book as well . In the handgun world carring 2 guns is known as the "New York reload", guess it could work for ML as well .

  15. The Book the movie is basd upon is, Crow Killer The Saga of Liver eating Johnson. They left the fact that he ate the livers of the Indians out of the movie for some reason. Watch your top knot !

    Last day

Ha, I got married on Nov. 4th !! But I did not bow hunt then, picked it up the next year for some reason....
  17. wow been awhile... lots of get togathers and xmas party stuff going on ,been out a bit though. drove parts of the farm awhile back, pushed out plenty of deer on each drive, stacked up some doe, filled some dmaps, I missed a buck... its big buck only on the farm , so that hurt. This was a mile and a half or so from my "spot" so its still quite there,I hope. Got meat but no bucks, passed a young 8pt that came out last Monday night at 4:00 , being under the farms big buck rules and all. They have had the rule for years, I only have been placed under it for 4 years, 2 years i scored and 1 year I popped a young buck on another property, looks slim for this year though . Good news is lots of corn on the ground where they cut it, so I'm hoping for late ML when maybe one nice buck will stick his nose out a little to early wish we'd get some cold temps. This has got to be the cleanest hunting season on record, no mud, cloths clean, car clean, gun room clean. Time to get some more blood on my boots ! we'll see what tue. brings
  18. look here is the way it is. im a fire lt in a high crime rate city, I,ve been to close to 200 shootings many before the cops were on scene , some when the shooter was still there.... where i work cops could give a crap if your are driving 20 over the speed limit or had a couple beers after work. They have more important things to do. Now out in the sticks they'er bored off their a$$ and are looking for things to do. Oh you put a worm on your kids hook. thats their biggest crime of the week lol. Those guys would crap their pants if they'd have to face real bad guys .Its much safer to hassle the working man over bs .
  19. Hum if one does not break the laws, then why would you get stopped for speeding ??? I don't get tickets either and both my kids have been given passes, professional courtesy and all...
  20. You are right Doc. All in all it was still a cheap fun day with the kids. Reminds me of a guy I know who cut down 2 trees blocking his view of the Lake, they were in wet lands or something and he got fined $2,000, $1,000 per tree. He handed the judge $4,000, the judge said its only two... "thats for the other two I've yet to take down! " If ya got the money its no big deal .
  21. A few years back i was stopped like 3 or 4 years in a row, aways good. I got to know one that works my area great guy a lot of help. Met another through a friend he is a nice guys as well. Now FISHING... A bunch of years back at fair Haven State Park, not so much. Me and a friend were on the pier neither of us had rods. Our kids were young and we were putting on worms and taking off Sunny's. Up comes DEC boat a young guy and an old guy,I figure FTO and rookie. the young guy asks for my Lic. I say i don't even have a pole ! Just helping the kids, with cheap kids poles ect. He say you need an Lic. for that I have one good to go. Next he asks my friend he says his wallet is up at camp, and he buys a Sportsman every year but last year he was so busy at work he knew he could not hunt and was unsure if he bought it. Cop runs his name no Lic. = ticket for baiting his kids hooks.... Now heres the pisser, the dec cop walks over to a 3rd Dad who is doing the same thing with his kid, the Dad heard our converstions and raises his hands out and shakes his head NO. The DEC cop says THATS ALL RIGHT and walks away..... WHAT ??? Joes gets a ticket i get checked and he gets nothing ??? We did not raise a stink as Joe already got a ticket so all that would happen is the 3rd Dad would. That was totel BS though.
  22. They just cut the few hundred acres of it around me. We set up on the cutting. The monster i've been hunting was within 40 yards of the combine 2x's and several young bucks and a couple decent ones were pushed out as well, none close enough to shoot... It'll be awile till they step out in the cut fields in day light though... They also plow it under soon after cutting where I hunt, I prefer it up, high up in a hedgerow between two corn fields awesome ! 16 inch deep furrows of muddy fields not so much .
  23. I know a couple of officers,I'm NOT speaking for them but this is the feeling I get . If they feel its an honest mistake, like your just the other side of the area and they believe your story you may get to keep the deer and get a minor ticket/fine. I know an old guy who was mentoring a kid.he shot a doe but did not fill out the tag, the old guy never did till he got to the road, that is ILLEGAL it must be filled out at time of kill . The dec was at the road.... they got to keep the deer because the dec cop believed the old guy was not trying to pull a fast one, but he did get a ticket . Now if your doe tag is for 3 counties away.... I've lost tags from bucks, used my either sex tag by mistake on a doe ( i save em for bucks only) everytime the dec cops helped me out, you just gotta be honest and be willing to take your lumps . Now I've always called them as soon as I figured out what happened. Now in some parts of the state it seems they are not to undertstanding though. Bottom line its up to you to know the law and follow it.
