The above is so messed up. where would you store gun ? loaded combat shotgun in closet by front door,loaded handgun on top of kitchen cabnit,loaded handguns in bedroom, one on me.transport it in backpack loaded to and from work. If I had to go through that bs i'd just buy 'em off a street corner.....or out of state. wink.

Got mine sometime in the '80's. No classes to take or other bs,no restrictions ,wife has hers,oldest daughter getting hers,most guys i work with,neighbors etc. full carry.Love Monroe county for that anyway. Also got Fla. and Utah, permits so I'm good in 38 states . pre ban mags,black talons God bless America ! Interview, classes, renew ? WTF.....

Can't spread,once the oil is washed off. Like a burn, get away from the flame no more burns, touch a burn you don;t get burned . Me I get it all the time, no biggie most times. Got the shot from the Dr. once that was great . I keep a gallon of water and soap in the car, come out of the woods I wash off legs and arms,summer time shorts,t shirts. you got a half hour or so to wash the oil off. really cut down on me getting it.

Lights in the dark are tricky ! i've gone through the hardwoods turned and thought there were headlights in the field, when it was just lighter out there in the field, weird. I've been in a stand, in a hedgerow way out in the open when lights hit me, turned it was head lights over 1/2 mile away making a turn . But each year i do have dreams of ufo's landing in the green field, now that would be a great mount.

Funny you should mention fishing. years back we were camping at fairhaven state park. One morning we took the kids to the to pier to fish. My 2 had poles I did not. my friend the same. We were putting on worms taking off sunnies. Dec cop boat pulls up, asks for my fishin Lic. I said i don't even have a pole ! says I need a ic. to help my kids fish. he runs me in the comp. I'm good to go. My buddy who has no pole and is just baiting his kids, is run trhough the comp. no fishing lic. he gets a ticket . ok fine you need a Lic to bait your kids hook. no boggie he owns factory and the fine is nothing to him. But then the econ walks over to a 3rd dad doing the same thing, this dad shrugs his shoulders and the Econ cop says OK and walks away WTF . Now thats a @*&&^ or a rookie .Its a roll of the dice who stops you.

Ya years back i got stopped on the thruway in corfu for speeding, he saw my Id so wrote me for seatbelt instead .Around here it would be have a nice day . When we repound for shootings ect. we kill the lights and sirens as we aproach the sceen accept when we got folks in the way we hit them for a bit.

Sounds like my season. It'll pick up soon though. My youngest daughter played bb,through varsity btw,quit her senior year. Nobody was having much fun and she knew she would not play much, just not worth it. Best move she ever made.

If anyone cares anymore,I just got off the phone with my friend who's friends with a differant Econ Officer then myself. They just spoke and this one said, basically the same as mine ," I could not care any less if your gun is loaded". "we know everyone walks in and out with them loaded,and its not enough to prove hunting,its common practice". He too mentioned coyote hunting... Now listen up, he did say in some areas you might find some guys who feel differant, but " around here we're not interested in breaking the balls of law abiding hunters ." So it looks like we not only got the best hunting, but the best Econ Officers as well .

Last night was a nice sit.first time in hardwoods in 10 days or so. Fresh scapes,lots of leaves now down,zero wind,clear sky. Sat at inside corner stand ,with shots to side corn field as well. One 4pt at 6:00 ,one doe way off a little later,one raccoon and 35,007 squirrels, maybe the 100's of acres of corn around me need to come down . Oh well after Sat. i got 15 days off bring it on !

No I don't as I said earlier the guy who patrols my area called me the other morning and I asked him. He said one can have a loaded gun in the woods at 2AM and untill you shoot at a deer there is nothing he can do, thats good enough for me.All the "i thinks", " my friends cousins brothers neighbor said" hold little water. We're going to meet up tomorrow after I hunt, but I see little need to bring it up again. I'm not a cop I scored higher on the test so i got hired by the FD. Part of my job is doing building inspections, there area plenty of Lt.s and Capt.s who write up violations that are just plain wrong they don't understand the code and they write a violation when they should not , then there are the guys who go take the full codes classes , they come back and go through 2 pens a day, I see no reason why it would be any differant with cops. .

Talk first. Get your thoughts and points in order,write them down if need be. There are leash laws , salt licks are against the law,he can do what he wants on his land, he can not do things to mess up a legal hunt. I would record the conversation,I have a digital recorder myself for such things.Who knows he may very well admit to illegal things ,which could help later if he's a richard head. You could call and talk to a DEC Officer and ask him the right approach.laws ect. If you start off by sending in the cops, its even money he will too each time, you drive a little to fast down the street, build a deck with out a permit,shoot a deer 5 minutes past legal light . Talk first, but have the facts."the dogs can't run free,town code #, the dogs can't chase deer,Econ law whatever. say you'd like to work it out as gentlemen, and keep the law out of it, but you have talked to them and this is what they said. Ok going back out this afternoon.Sunny clear pretty still around 60 right now. texted my youngest at college,she picked the stand for me.Gotta try something ! Just got my new glasses,these things are great, high priced lens worth it. Eye place. What do you look for in your glasses ? Me.Got to be able to see my pins in low light . Hope to have something to report around 8 or so,but then its watching the Cards,beat the Giants!

Guess I can't walk my dog around the neighborhood any more,or tie him outside for that matter he's always barking at them sending them a runnin . Heck the deer are distrubing my dog and my TV watching.

Thanks for defining "Upstate". As I don't know anyone outside of NYC who uses that term, and was foggy on where it is. I live in Western NY btw,sometimes I hunt in the Southern tier, and I camp in the North country. Someday i hope to see "upstate" though. Heres my hunt of a couple years back. 3:30 get off sofa take shower and put on camo. 3;45 load bow and climber in van drive 1/2 mile. 3:46 walk in climb tree. 4:00 shoot doe, gut it drag it 100 yards to my van. 4:30 hang it from tree in front yard . 5;00 drink a beer and fall asleep exhausted. Good luck hunting,many here ,most? would not hunt at all if they had to do what you do !

One of the best hunters I know uses NOTHING,no special soaps,sprays ect. he just hunts the wind. He has a nice wall of heads. I figure I gotta wash myself and my clothes might as well use unscented stuff. As for the mouth, again the deer can pick out each smell you can't "cover it". That said I won't ever leave my Atomic Fireballs at home !! They last 20-30 minutes each, which helps alieve the bordom, they work better then any cough drop that last 3 minutes.I've also killed my best bucks while sucking on one. I think if they put them in camo wrappers and sold them at Dicks they could get $5 a piece from hunters....

I know the feeling. Well when it gets cold and the rut kicks in we'll not be bored lol.

Just got a call, from someone "in the know" he drives a green jeep with emblems on the doors and light bar on top.... He said you can have your gun loaded,arrow knocked in complete darkness there is nothing written in the law against it. You could sit in your stand at 2AM with a loaded gun and untill you FIRE at a deer,you've done nothing wrong. He even mentioned coyotes.... which you could shoot. Now if your creeping along a field edge watching,stopping ect. you could have an issue.One such time he arrested the guy because he asked him "what are you doing? and he said he thought something might pop out..". If the guy did not say that there was not much he could have done. We're going to meet up next time I hunt,if anyone has more questions.

My thoughts after years of covering lots of ground are. Metal signs last longer and fade less. I need posts and plywood to post open farm fields(no trees) . I myself don't find it expensive as you can get 20 or so out of one sheet of plywood. A stack of signs and a screw gun fit in my pack now. Lasting untill the tree fell would be nice, but you still have to go around and cut the new growth that hangs down and blocks the signs each year or so.
