  1. And where's this? http://www.erh.noaa.gov/nerfc/graphics/snowmaps/html/snow_depth.html
  2. As someone who had quite a few wild animals when I was young, trust me, they are always wild animals as we found out when my coon who was about 50 pounds at the time, decided that he didn't care for my Father and bit right through his arm.
  3. Interesting... I can't use them either using Firefox 25.0. Pale Moon (optimized Firefox) 24.2.2 (latest level) works fine. (http:www.palemoon.org) It's weird with FF, the fonts actually appear but then go away when I move the mouse to select one.
  4. ok, stupid question: why don't folks simply fill in their location and hunting location fields in their profile?
  5. I guess I started right off with a stage 4/5 mixture and just stayed there. Although stage 6 is creeping in.
  6. I think the DEC should trap them and release them on eastern Long Island
  7. Just testin Fort Drum Weather Cam : http://weather.weatherbug.com/NY/Fort%20Drum-weather/weather-cams/local-cams.html Enlarge The Eastern U.S. will be slammed with another concoction of snow and rain as another coastal storm jumps up the Atlantic Seaboard. Elsewhere, high pressure will dominate across much of the West and Rockies. Saturday: It will feel like winter across the Northeast and Midwest on Saturday as more snowfall adds another layer to the snow cover. The Northeast and Great Lakes will see the brunt of the storm, with heavy snow making for very slick and slippery roadways. Snow showers will extend into the Northern Plains as well, accompanied by a blast of single-digit temperatures. Temperatures will plummet downwards as well, with single-digits seen across the Upper Midwest and extreme Northeast, while 10s and 20s keep the rest of New England and the Midwest bundled up in a few layers. Further south, snow will taper off to a deluge of rain as temperatures warm up above freezing. The southern Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic will see an icy mix that could cause a few trouble spots while the Tennessee Valley and Southeast are soaked in widespread showers. Highs will range from the 40s and 50s in the Mid-Atlantic to the 60s and 70s in the Southeast. Florida will be the warm-spot of the U.S. with temperatures rising into the 80s. Another ordinary round of mountain snow will blanket the peaks of the Northern Rockies while the Pacific Northwest sees a few afternoon showers. The rest of the U.S. will be dominated by clear skies and refreshing temperatures. The Rockies, Intermountain West and Central Plains will stay fairly chilly with highs in the 30s and 40s while the Southern Plains and Pacific Northwest stay a little warmer in the 50s. The West Coast and Southwest will have perfect outdoor weather, with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s and 70s. Sunday: Sunday's weather will be identical to Saturday's as the low pressure causing ruckus in the Eastern U.S. begins to move offshore. The Northeast and Midwest will continue to see another bout of snow that will keep most residents snowed in and huddled up indoors. Temperatures won't warm up too much with highs in the single-digits, 10s and 20s spreading from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast. Dreary weather in the Southeast won't ease either as rain moves out of the Tennessee Valley and soaks the Southeast from North Carolina to northern Florida. Florida will see another warm day with highs in the 80s, dropping down into the 60s and 70s in the northern corridors of the Southeast. Other than mountain snow in the Northern Rockies and typical autumn showers in the Pacific Northwest, the remainder of the U.S. will see another sun-filled day. Temperatures will be in the 30s across the Northern Rockies, 40s in the Pacific Northwest, Intermountain West and Central Plains and the 50s in the Southern Plains. The West Coast will luck out again with optimal outdoor highs in the 70s.
  8. Deer move when then they're pushed or when they feel like it and that can be anytime. You'll never shoot one from your couch.
  9. And then have guys at the ready to shoot the SOBs when they come running out.
  10. Dunno.... no police report? No pictures? I'd be more apt to believe there are mountain lions there. (J/K)
  11. wow, now that's a deer! Be interesting to know if you find that he made it through. And, I recognize those corn stalks...
  12. worked fine on firefox here all day. You may want to try clearing your cache, rebooting, or both.
  13. I already know *what* I'm getting, I just don't know *where*. When my wife turned 50 I told her that I was kidnapping her and we were going on a trip. She knew when and to pack for warm weather (her old day is toward the end of November). She didn't know until we hit the gate at the airport where we were going. She seemed to be ok with going to St. Lucia. So, my 60th is coming up and I know we're leaving Christmas Eve morning and coming back the 4th, but the only thing I know is to pack for warm. The swim trunks and snorkel gear are already to go. She's a copy cat but I'm not biaching....
  14. Good luck. I'd take it too. Things change. Even in my hometown in NW PA they cancel school at the drop of a hat these days. I honestly only recall twice that schools were cancelled growing up.
  15. Don't use 'em. I do carry them for using while dragging, but I use a muff with chemical heating packs.
  16. I first glanced and thought it was at a fast food counter...
  17. Congratulations. Should be nice and tender on the plate.
  18. What problem were you having? It should be just a simple copy/paste... http://bit.ly/18ziTin
  19. that was part of the my original post. It's only as good as the guy behind the stock... at least I think that's the phrase that I used.
  20. I was born and raised in NW PA, does that mean I can't play? ;-)
  21. Sorry, when discussing hunting I define accuracy as: did I hit where I aimed and did the animal drop? If the answer to both of those is yes then it's accurate. We're not talking shooting matches here we're talking downing an animal. But, I'll still hole it at the range. You wanna bring out micrometers and do trig problems - than I'll restate: you're reading WAY too much into this.
  22. ah - well that I'd certainly agree with. I agree that a "pro" isn't going to want to take the time to do it that way. Nobody touches my deer except me. I'm way to fussy so I just do it myself. It's actually kind of therapeutic. (I know, I'm weird... I just never admit that to the wife. )
  23. I've never made burger. When I'm done butchering I have steaks and stew meat. Now, one could argue that some of the 'steaks' are weird shapes but they work great for swiss steak and that type of use. It does take me a while to do a deer but that's just our preference.
