Let me ask ..this may actually be a new point in this discussion...For those of you that don't want it in "bow season" are you OK with them in small game and turkey season? I'm going to throw out the honesty factor for that question by stating this..... Anyone with a turkey license is allowed in the woods to hunt fall turkey with a cross bow. Now those dates for the southern zone are Oct 21 - Nov 3 I really have to laugh because the LEGAL time to be deer hunting with a cross bow is Nov 4th- Nov 17th this year. Just think about that a moment...how many guys that do both will sling their cross bow over their backs and carry their vertical bow in their hands when going to their blinds as I do? not many only need to walk a few hundred yards from their house, BUT a good many are hunting private lands with close camps and houses..hey even sticking a vertical in the trunk and going back to get it before "retrieving" a deer. I really laugh when I see these regulations Either they are Pollyanna's in their train of thought or they are hoping for some $$$ in fines...I do not know, but it's ridiculous...just have the inclusion and be done with it...LOL

So sorry for the little guy and so glad he still has his eye sight!...We tend to forget just how dangerous the woods can be ...especially when one needs to get their nose in someones "living room " Good guy Mark. We also forget about the handler...when the guy came out for my buck and decided we needed to do a second day( it had gotten picked up by then) We went into the Nastiest swamp areas and wild rose...the dog was fine but a year later we talked and he had told me of a leg puncture he had gotten and not realized it until getting home..it took a very long time to heel. The 100.00 I donated to him surely wasn't nearly enough...I give you guys all the credit in the world..it's not easy...AT ALL

Same here Though at 9:45 I checked the apple tree cam...I had spooked a deer on the way in,not one deer apparently for there was a fawn "blur "across the cam and me in the next frame a second later this morning..lol dang near walked over it..lol Then on the pull there are 3 mature doe and a fawn 15 mins later there I am walking to the cam...So I know they are in the neighbors sanctuary up behind the apple trees..and they are bedding on the ridge where the new stand is... With the exception of the pasture stand...I now know that entire area is a afternoon only sit..except during turkey the flock was in the background of doe in front of my blind..I heard them leaving just before I did 168 pics all deer from yesterday mid morning until a little bit ago, hope the wind is good for tonight...I fear I'm seeing a repeat of last year..with the added PITA of hundreds of acres of standing corn...with no cutting in sight, though I did see the big chopper in the shop when I drove by yesterday...but he has hundreds and hundreds of acres way more mature than the stuff in our area.

In slippery steps stand..wow did my fix ever work..its back to being Gully stand 1..bumped at least one one the way in.dead quiet now. Hunting in base layer. Here's a pic of stand fix.

Perfect out...Well could be cooler! Nearly no wind and W. Rained well into the night wet = quiet. Cloudy so not too right out. Shower and out I go...good luck guys.

Did errands today thinking rain would be gone for afternoon hunt...Noooo rain and fog now...just a bit more than I care for for bow...so I got all kinds of stuff for crock pot meals...put them on and go out hunting.

There were a few hogs in there...eating well this year..

Good Lord...hahahaha it's hunting season ...I'm tired all the time now....takes a day or two to "click"...lol

Hope the clean up of the Cohocton River and the loss of a once great brook trout stream from the Cohocton rivers source thorough Atlanta.very limited access and they aloud the Springwater highway dept. To move the stream shutting out one of it's best spots..The Canseraga creek in Dansville use to have some very good trout spots but access has been lost.

Ok I'm going to be blunt here...65, light breeze perfect direction...I'm stewing in the house because Mr B pitched a small ..hhhhmmm attitude...I haven't said a word yet...but he got the message because he's out putting up the deer pole ladder which is a royal PITA for me.So tonight is a slide... any other will not be...Those apples won't last forever.....I get he'stress,a job to finish (4)in Pittsfield AND another starting in The far southern tier at the same time....driving between both.....I'm about to start the retirement campaign. I'm home...pulled cards on way in not as big a party at the apple tree but I know I could get a deer there tonight if the winds were right it's like they are moving on a timer. Of course the night I sat in the blind they weren't, which has me thinking they are bedding within eye sight,or moving in early and hanging within eye sight. so 3pm not 4 might be a better time to slip in... Then I get.....but it's SUNDAY ya so??? You'll be watching TV...but dinner... The flashlight I saw this morning was coming in from the farm field above me ...so that may have doomed the hunt this morning..if he scared them up into the corn and not down to the woods..South winds have limited me to across the street but that will change and I'll be hitting up the N/E side of land

That's what I thought too but there were a lot of crow around also...he really stood out and the calls were a group of three, a pause and so on. He was on the thermals above the woods...driving me crazy. It was a girguly. Grrrruuunt sound. I took me a minute or two to figure it out...lol

One more hour then I give up....squirrels are coming out and I have a crow that sounds just like buck grunt flying around the woods.. still chilly here but sunny.

All clear here now. Wind dying down sun coming out. Boy oh boy quiet now..but rain and wind all night. , something should move soon. Let's hope. In oaks between 2 gullies and a farm field above and a swamp and plots below.

In the new tower popup...all I've seen was a flash light at 6:30..I showed mine and it went out. Darker now than at 7am. rains started again.dang wore no coat just rain pants and took those and boots off. I have on a very light turtle neck. Storm just hit and Temps dropped, I'm a tad chilly, closing blind up ...a lot

That's was clover field... Though the deer may think lover...lol Yes Rob and I had actually corrected all but full and everything...I hit send and just now noticed it didn't go through.... Ps..I do hope this makes you feel better
