    hi

Not really, Just get out there and have fun.
  3. Great bulls ! I was there around 25 years ago when you could take 2 bulls per hunter. Saw hundreds of animals a day. We caught the migration just right. Too bad the hunting is closed there now. It was a money maker for the locals.
  4. Nice job, great way to recycle lumber also
  5. Text book hunt this morning. Soft tree yelps in the early morning darkness. 3 gobbles from the treetops 100 yards away. 3 hens glide down and hit the ground. Hens slowly saunter and feed nearing my low pitched purrs with Tom following behind. Bang!
  6. After many days over 2 seasons the turkey gods smiled down upon us. This has been the longest time I needed to get a bird for a newbie turkey hunter. My buddy took a jake on the first day of the season then a nice tom the following Sunday. Now he's hooked! Now I hunt for myself. Last Saturday had 5" of snow and high winds. This weekend looks better.
  7. SKRE is a great product. I lived in that gear for 10 days. It served me extremely well on the hunt. I would recommend to everyone.
  8. Outfitters in Canada are allotted a specific number of tags for a period of time based on population surveys. In the Yukon, a hunter only needs to hire an outfitter that has tags available for the species that he wants to hunt. No draw, or lottery. A non-resident can not hunt in Canada without hiring an outfitter. There are opportunities to enter a raffle for a sheep hunt. A friend of mine did this 4 years ago and won a $40,000.00 Stone Sheep hunt in the Yukon with a $200.00 entry ticket. That hunt still cost him $20,000.00 after the unexpected add on expenses. Commercial plane flights, charter flights, hotels before and after the hunt, taxidermy, and guide tips. He also shot a beautiful Alaska Yukon moose on a trophy fee basis for an additional $8,000.00. Unfortunately these hunts are out of reach for most hunter these days. I bit the bullet and said the hell with it and went anyway and did it before i am not physically able to anymore. I was told that once you go sheep hunting, it obsesses you and that's all you think about. They were right. I have been applying for Desert Bighorn and Rocky Mountain Bighorn for many years in different states. Unfortunately the odds are extremely low to draw a tag. I would be divorced if my wife knew the cost of some of these hunts
  9. You would be closer if you doubled that number
  10. Reading Trail153's awesome adventure in Newfoundland inspired me to post pics from my Yukon sheep hunt from last year. I hunted the end of September into early October. The weather was surprisingly pleasant. The temps only fell into low teens overnight and warmed into the 40s during the day. I was lucky to shoot a fannin "stone" ram on the second day of the hunt. I'm told that he is one of the largest & oldest rams ever shot in the Yukon. 14 + years. Spent the rest of the 10 day hunt looking for a grizzly. We saw bears but nothing large enough to shoot. Pictured are myself and my guide Grant. Grant is a great guy to spend time with on a once in a lifetime hunt. Also are pics from my new friends from Wisconsin with their Alaska Yukon moose. Everyone of them were over 60". One of the other hunters shot a nice grizz and another took a beautiful Mountain Caribou. I'm saving all my loose change so I can go back again.
  11. Ivan, Hector & Dwane are commercial fishermen off season. Jason has a home on one of the best Atlantic Salmon rivers in the world. They asked us to stay at their homes to go lobstering, salmon & halibut fishing too. It doesn't get any better than that!
  12. I knew John and his son bought the outfit. Awesome territory, lots of animals. The guides and relationships make it an awesome hunt. I have pics of the same areas. Do you know if this past wicked winter affected the moose population? 12' of snow at one point. My friends are concerned about next season.
  13. That was an awesome hunt. 2 friends and myself hunted moose with Dean from Moose Valley in 2018. Hector guided me also. We hunted the last week in September, peak rut. Saw lots of bulls. We all tagged out in 3 days. My buddies are booked for 2021. Dean runs a great camp. Unfortunately he sold it. Hope his guides stay, great hunt with. One of the best hunts I've been on. Congrats on the Caribou! I hope to go back for one too.
  14. I'm not talking about paying back taxes. When you sell the timber, the county or town receives a percentage of the harvest payment that the timber buyer gives you. This might not be required now since you are not in the program this year. Ask your Forester.
  15. Maybe look at the bright side. If you are technically not in the program this year, you might not have to make the percentage payment of this year's harvest to the county or town. You should look into this.
  16. My company provides building maintenance services for corporate office buildings. I'm being asked by our clients to hold off our services and not send our teams in until this pandemic dies down. This is going to be devastating for many small businesses.
  17. I've had my land in the program for 15 years. Have you talked with a certified Forester ?
  18. Lots of very talented hunters on this thread. All awesome bucks for sure. Congratulations to all
  19. It was 300 lbs live weight. They grow them big up north of the border. The crazy other part of the story was a larger racked buck showed up 2 minutes after I shot this one. I wanted to cry but my eyes would have froze shut. ☺
  20. I agree, we must have brain damage. The following year it was 30 below all week. Shot another nice buck though.
