No update isn't a good sign!!! When you get a chance please let us know how this went.

Welcome to the site. No, definitely not a rub. Maybe an old cut or fungus. Buck rubs are pretty easy to spot.

Great find... but hopefully you'll have even more luck finding your Buddy's. He thinks the shot was a little forward. I'm not sure, difficult to get a pass through with mature buck at 30 yrds when you are in front of shoulder. How was height of the shot? Being 30 yrds, even from a stand won't have a lot of angle. Good blood with bubbles so that's awesome. I'm hoping it wasn't too high of a shot?

I'm in the same boat. Private property that my Brother and I own. I lost a sweet Moultrie (had monitor to view images in woods) and a buck buggy. Both are gone. It's insanely frustrating. I, on the other hand have absolutely no idea who the thieves could be. In fact, I don't even know how you'd stumble across the camera. way up on my property in thickets.

Cooler for hanging deer near letchworth? ??
Taylormike replied to DanielT's topic in Deer Processing
I would have to agree with Paula. You just want to use their facility/set-up to hang it? If they allow it, I would say a tip is a must!!! -

Damn buddy, sorry to hear about this incident but glad everyone is safe. No matter your passion for deer, I agree, enough is enough. This will only escalate to serious trouble. -
I'm off and down to camp from the 1st-15th. I'm banking on the rut to get hot around the 3rd-10th... I think it will. I have done a decent amount of walking in Niagara County, my camp is in Alleghany county. I have seen 0 rubs 0 scrapes. I think we are a good two weeks out...

Fortunately I have never injured myself letting the bow back into the rest position. I was told by bow tuner to never draw a bow dry, especially with just fingers. If you use a release you should only draw with the release. I guess a lot of the new designed bows have such short brace heights with such quick cams, etc. that it is too risky to draw without the arrow. I don't let anyone draw my bow unless they have an arrow in it and preferably a release on too! I'm not uptight either, just trying to avoid a disaster. I actually know someone who dry fired their new bow hours after purchasing it. Tried to draw with fingers and no arrow and it slipped. It caused major damage. 375-500 or something. I sort of got off topic, sorry...

I also have a handful of pictures floating around on this site. Either way, this was most recent, my Columbus day doe.

WNY is right. I'm just saying it isn't legal for the general public to set-up stand there. I know the area pretty good. They have opened bait and shoot around there before. As far as the photo or deer being legit and/or legal or illegal, I have no idea.

Live about 10 miles from there, some monsters for sure. You cannot hunt there.

Sorry for double post, in and out with my coverage.

I use them because I have had success. I've also been detected while using the stuff. When I see that nice buck, I say to myself, please make a mistake. Who knows!?!?!

This is easy... You CAN'T. You can maximize comfort from all the above tricks and ideas. However, it will come down to a point where it really is mind over matter. Tough it and Fight it all the way. We all get cold, I know I do anyway. A thermos full of hot beverage definitely helps.

Hi fellow archer men and women. When does your vacations start or when do you plan on putting some substantial time on stand in order to harvest that trophy? My Brother and I will be down from the 1st-15th. We will take our children out on Halloween and plan to depart early the next morning but not before stealing a healthy portion of their candy. You see, there will be some all day sits and we will need some good protein like snickers, milky ways, and peanut butter cups to sustain us while out in the trees. Well good luck all and COME ON RUT, hit on or around the 4th or 5th!!!

Awesome!!! -
I think hearing is way under utilized in the woods. If you are fortunate enough to have good hearing, it can be such a beneficial asset. This is especially true when bow hunting... My Dad suffers from hearing loss, auto collision business, I cant tell you how many times he has been surprised by a stealthy whitetail. Do whatever to optimize your hearing, even if you're ears get cold. I wear a knit hat covering head and just tip of ears. It's weird my ears don't get cold.... My feet are a different story altogether.

Great Hunt! Great Read! I just love this, I can hear the excitement in you! Post pics when you can. -
Deer definitely eat crab apples. As some have stated, it all depends on other food sources and time of year. I am not a veteran on this topic, in fact, quite the contrary, a novice. However, I have began reading a lot on QDM and plan on putting in my first food plot next spring. Back to the question: For the longest time I have a practice of opening up the stomachs. I do this out of curiosity and to see what the deer graze on. I have experienced crab apples in the stomach but it is usually long after the cold whether has been established and other food sources dry up.

Enjoy that buck... Nice job. Let's not ruin a great memory or story, congrats!!!

Blackradio, if you have no time constraints you better give her 6 hrs. 3 is not enough. -

Wow, glad you guys are ok. Weird reading about something right around the corner. I live 7 or so miles from there.
